The 4th IEEE International Conference on

                             Network Softwarization

                     “Achieving smart network softwarization”

                        25-29 June 2018, Montreal, Canada

                             http://ieee-netsoft.org

======================================================================

Important Dates

- Demo submission deadline: March 16, 2018
- Acceptance notification: April 6, 2018
- Camera-ready submission: April 20, 2018

======================================================================

The IEEE conference on Network Softwarization, NetSoft 2018, invites
demonstration proposals on networking software related research
prototypes. As a high-profile, leading edge forum for researchers and
engineers in the field of networking software, Software Defined
Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV), NetSoft 2018
offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate innovative and leading-edge
networking software prototypes, engage with highly-skilled technical
audience, and discuss emerging technologies with key thought leaders.
Demonstrations showcasing working systems, innovative applications,
ground breaking ideas, and novel concepts related to networking software
are welcome. We are seeking the following types of contributions without
implying any order of preference:

- Demonstrations on topics related to NetSoft 2018
- Demonstrations from industrial and academia researchers.
- Demonstrations from open source communities.
- Demonstrations from 5G/NFV/SDN testbeds and prototypes.
- Demonstrations from student authors related to the concepts presented
in their paper(s).
- Demonstrations from authors whose contributions have been accepted in
the main conference and workshops

======================================================================

Demo Submission

Prospective contributors are expected to turn in a demo proposal in the
form of a 3-pages paper in IEEE conference double-column format,
preferably incorporating a demo system architecture illustration. Demo
papers will be peer-reviewed and accepted demo papers will be included
in the electronic conference/workshops proceedings bundle provided to
NetSoft 2018 attendees and will be subsequently submitted to IEEE
Xplore. The paper should incorporate the following:

- Title
- Author’s names and affiliation
- Abstract
- Description
 - Key networking concepts involved and what is demonstrated and
distinguishing aspects with respect to previous related work
- Prototype Illustrations
- Highlights of the innovation, with a clear description of novel ideas
in Networking Software.
- A crisp list of individual items that will be demonstrated.
- Relevant references, in particular if the demo is related to a paper
being accepted in the main conference or a workshop

The proposal may include additional documents like powerpoints, etc.,
that clarify the demonstration, as well as the list of technical
requirements for the demonstration (power outlet, space, etc.).

Demonstration proposal papers should be submitted through electronic
mail (e-mail) to the Demo Co-Chairs of NetSoft 2018:

Jérôme François, Inria, France (jerome.francois@inria.fr)
Rashid Mijumbi, Nokia Bell Labs, Ireland (rashid.mijumbi@nokia.com)
Jeebak Mitra, Huawei, Canada (Jeebak.Mitra@huawei.com)

At least one author of each accepted demo proposal is required to
register for the NetSoft 2018 main conference and present their demo at
the scheduled demo session(s).

Workshop on Mobile Network Measurement (MNM=E2=80=9918)
Hosted @TMA Conference 2018
June 25, 2018, Vienna, Austria
http://tma.ifip.org/2018/mnm-workshop/

The second edition of the MNM workshop is a full-day, pre-TMA conference =
event, and takes place on Monday the 25th of June. Proceedings of the =
2nd MNM workshop will be included within the TMA conference proceedings, =
published in the IFIP Open Digital Library, with open access, and =
submitted to IEEE Xplore.

***Important dates***

Paper submission: Friday, April 20, 2018
Author notification: Monday, May 21, 2018
Camera ready: Monday, May 31, 2018
Workshop date: Monday, June 25, 2018

***Overview***

Network measurement provides essential input for operations and =
diagnostics as well as a basis for the network design and development of =
protocols in today=E2=80=99s complex networks. Over the last few =
decades, mobile networks have become a vital piece of the modern =
communications infrastructure, underpinning many aspects of modern =
society. However, measurement is challenging for mobile networks, =
because the mobile ecosystem is complex with many different components =
required to work together in a dynamic environment where channel =
conditions constantly change and users move. The workshop will focus on =
active and passive measurement methods and results for mobile networks.

The objective of the MNM workshop is to bring together researchers and =
industry, especially mobile operators and businesses whose operations =
depend on mobile networks, for discussion of measured network effects as =
well as optimization and advancement of measurement tools and methods =
for mobile environments. We solicit contributions on the =
state-of-the-art, results of ongoing research, open issues, trends and =
new ideas.

***Topics***

+ Measurement results of end-to-end and application-level performance =
(Quality of Experience) in mobile broadband networks
+ Tools and methods for end-to-end as well as application-level =
performance that are optimized for measurements in mobile networks
+ Measurement tools for middlebox and proxy detection as well as reports =
of measured middelbox behavior
+ Classification and modeling of in-network function in mobile networks
+ Machine learning and data analytics for monitoring and analysis of =
mobile network traffic
+ Visualization of dynamics in mobile networks for diagnostics
+ Approaches and protocols to support measurements and monitoring in =
mobile networks

***Submission***

Authors should only submit original work that has not been published =
before and is not under submission to any other venue. Submissions must =
not exceed 6 pages in IEEE 2-column style, including all figures and =
references.

***Contact***

Feel free to contact the MNM workshop co-chairs if you have any =

Jan, MAPRG-ers

IW measurements were coincidental to the focus, but still useful and the
dataset is available if you want.
Particularly given the CDN profile of mobile operators is not
necessarily similar to fixed.

Paper is in this month's IEEE CommMag
Preprint, Dataset, slides in TCPM (Nov 2017), etc are available from:
http://www.it.uc3m.es/amandala/ecn++/
Data collected: Jan & May 2017.

Cheers

Bob
