The Message Session Relay Protocol (MSRP) defines a mechanism for
sending instant messages (IMs) within a peer-to-peer session,
negotiated using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and the
Session Description Protocol (SDP). This document defines the
necessary tools for establishing multi-party chat sessions, or chat
rooms, using MSRP.

This document is a product of the SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions Working Group of the IETF.

This is now a Proposed Standard.

STANDARDS TRACK: This document specifies an Internet Standards Track
protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions
for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the Official
Internet Protocol Standards (https://www.rfc-editor.org/standards) for the
standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this
memo is unlimited.

This announcement is sent to the IETF-Announce and rfc-dist lists.

what caused the delay. Wasn't it hung up on dependencies?

	Thanks,

It was hung up on i18n stuff. The main PRECIS spec was published minutes
before this one.

Hi Everyone,

The SIMPLE working group officially closed some time ago, but we kept
the mail list open for any additional discussion. With the recent
publication of simple-chat as an RFC, all of it's documents have been
published. The mailing list will close shortly. If people find new
things to work on that would have been related to SIMPLE, please take
them to DISPATCH.

I'd like to thank everyone who worked on SIMPLE for all their years of
hard work.

Thanks!

Ben.
