I've seen no objections to the decision from the interim meeting on
list. Both RFC4582bis and RFC4583bis are being structured and
"patched" according to these decisions.

Therefore, draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4583bis-00 was submitted yesterday (a
couple of hours before the cut-off time for initial document
submission). We'll finish the next version of
draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4582bis during this week.

Never mind the abstract, here's the changes and fixes:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4583bis-00#section-12

Due to the IETF-83 cut-off date for initial version documents,
rfc4583bis arrived first.

According to decisions on document structure in the interim meeting,
the RFC 4583 related changes in draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4582bis are
merged into RFC 4583 to build this draft. An errata and typo fix in an
example is changed as well.

Hi all,

Re-reading rfc4582bis, I noticed some confusing terminology. The 'I' Bit is
described as the 'Transaction Initiator' flag. But, by its description, it
is set by the Transaction _Responder_, not the initiator. This seems a
recipe for confusion. I think it would it be better to rename it the 'R'
bit, as the 'Transaction Responder' flag.

As a secondary point, we are starting to define multiple BFCP version values
with this spec. It seems to me that it was an oversight in the original spec
not to include an error message of "Unsupported Version". Is there any
reason why we should not take this opportunity to define this value?

I agree, this is a better name for the flag clarifying the actual
usage of the flag bit.

Also a good idea, since we are now specifying a new version value and
the chances for "version clash" occurs.

No objections to these two proposal was sent to the list. Given no
negative reactions, I'll add them to the upcoming version of the
rfc4582bis draft tomorrow - before the cut-off time for IETF-83.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts director=
ies. This draft is a work item of the Binary Floor Control Protocol Bis Wo=
rking Group of the IETF.

Title : The Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP)
	Author(s) : Tom Kristensen
	Filename : draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4582bis-02.txt
	Pages : 85
	Date : 2012-03-12

Floor control is a means to manage joint or exclusive access to
shared resources in a (multiparty) conferencing environment.
Thereby, floor control complements other functions -- such as
conference and media session setup, conference policy manipulation,
and media control -- that are realized by other protocols.

This document specifies the Binary Floor Control Protocol (BFCP).
BFCP is used between floor participants and floor control servers,
and between floor chairs (i.e., moderators) and floor control
   servers.

This document obsoletes RFC 4582. Changes from RFC 4582 are
   summarized in section 16.

The draft is now restructured as agreed in the interim meeting and
(silently) confirmed on list, i.e. diff style changes merged in from the
-01 version of the draft. No technical changes in the extensions for
reliable transport, just some minor - more editorial - clarifications of
the text.

The tools page diff tool seems to work fine. Changes from RFC 4582
displayed side-by-side this way:
<URL:
http://tools.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4582bis-02.txt&url1=http://tools.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4582.txt
 >

The (non-normative) overview of changes from RFC 4582 is contained in
Section 16:
<URL:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4582bis-02#section-16 >

Please, review and provide any comments that will make this overview of
changes more useful and clear.

When creating the XML equivalent to RFC 4582 - as starting point, I
stumbled upon a couple of typos and bugs in the final RFC 4582. These
are listed in Section 16. I will especially ask for review and
confirmation of the last fix in the list:

Corrected attribute type (Section 13.1.1 <http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-bfcpbis-rfc4582bis-02#section-13.1.1>):
Change from PARTICIPANT-PROVIDED-INFO to PRIORITY attributed in
the ninth paragraph, since the note below describes priority and
that the last paragraph deals with PARTICIPANT-PROVIDED-INFO.

Corrections:

- The extensions is of course for unreliable transport, not reliable
transport as stated above!

- The addition of the new "unsupported version" error code is a
technical change, and was announced separately on this list.

BFCPBIS WG,

We have proposed functionality for media stream selection and our
initial pick of protocol for this functionality has been BFCP. If you
think that is a good idea or terrible idea, please come to dispatch and
argue it.

The discussion will happen in Paris in the
Dispatch WG session, currently scheduled for Tuesday (27th of March) at
1300-1500.

If you already now have input in the discussion please send email to the
Dispatch WG mailing list.

Cheers

Magnus

Dispatch,

With 10 days until the meeting I would like to provide a reminder on the
upcoming discussion and some clarification on what we believe to be the
high level question that Dispatch needs to resolve for us to be able to
make progress.

First of all we have not updated our drafts. They are still relevant
background material for this discussion:

Media Stream Selection:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-westerlund-dispatch-stream-selection=
/

Pause and Resume:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-westerlund-avtext-rtp-stream-pause/

The above drafts propose the need for two functionalities:

Choose What Content to Receive - A media receiver wants to dynamically
choose which media stream to receive, out of many possible, from a
certain media sender, out of many possible

Request to Pause Sending of a Content - A media receiver wants to ask
the media sender to temporarily stop sending a specific media stream,
and to resume it with short notice

>From our perspective there exist three different high level methods for
realizing this functionality:

- Using a media control protocol, like BFCP or Media Control Framework
- Using the media plane, like RTCP
- Using the signaling plane, like SIP/SDP or other SIP carried data

What we want out of the Dispatch session is clear indications on what
are the most suitable method or methods (as we have two different
functionalities) that should be worked out. That indication can then
hopefully be turned into a decision pretty quickly to take the work to
one or more WG. We want to be able to continue working on this and
making progress.

Cheers

Magnus Westerlund

Hi!

See the attached diffs to the 4582bis and 4853bis drafts.

The motivation of the 4582bis change is to make sure nobody thinks
Conference ID = -42 is legal. (I left Transaction ID as it was, since
it carries no meaning apart from uniqueness.)

The motivation of the 4583bis change is to make sure nobody thinks they
can put "a=userid: 0xa" in the SDP to express User ID = 10.

Regards,
Kristoffer

I agree. I will present these clarifications in the IETF-83 WG session tomorrow.

Hi all,

a virtual room has been reserved on the Meetecho system for Friday's
BFCPBIS WG meeting session.

Access to the on-line session (including audio and video streams) will
be available at:
http://www.meetecho.com/ietf83/bfcpbis

The Meetecho session automatically logs you into the standard IETF
jabber room. So, from there, you can have an integrated experience
involving all media and allowing you to interact with the room.
Remote participants might also send their own voice to the room, if they
want to, by either calling a landline phone number, or using our
embedded VoIP applet (in this last case they are *strongly* advised to
use a headset).

A tutorial of interactivity features of the tool can be found at:
http://www.meetecho.com/ietf83/tutorials

Cheers,
the Meetecho team

My own handwritten scribble from the meeting didn't quite work. So,
reading through the minutes reveals that the following are missing in
the current rfc4582bis draft:

- Adding a note explaining the benefit of having version == 2 to
differentiate between BFCP and STUN packets.

- Remove description of using the new Goodbye primitive for reliable
transport, since we increased the version number for the new extensions
(for unreliable transport).

- Adding an example of DTLS usage during call setup.

Hi Tom,

Thank you for cross referencing and pointing out the necessary changes
in the drafts.
The chairs will post minutes from today's session more promptly, so no
need for you to take a handwriting course :)

Cheers,
Charles

(As WG cochair)

I didn't get round to say this in the meeting but the late posting of the i=
nterim minutes and its cosequent effects on the editor of the drafts was my=
 fault.

I'll try and do better in future.

Keith
