Dear All:

For the next IETF in Dallas, we are going to have 2 6TiSCH sessions, one 90
minutes for unchartered work (including DetNet) and one 150 minutes for
chartered work.
Our goal is to split the sessions as follows:

Day Time Room Topic
Monday Afternoon Session II 1520-1650 CDT Continental DetNet, IoT
PCE, Dynamic Scheduling, re-chartering
Thursday Morning Session I 0900-1130 CDT Continental WG Docs,
6top, ETSI Plugtest, Security, more re-chartering

On Monday, we'd wish to see discussions on:
- DetNet: Gap analysis - need for IETF work, problem statement and
architecture, requirement drafts
- IoT PCE: Gap analysis vs. 6TiSCH needs, Barcelona workshop highlights,
6TiSCH requirements for PCE and TEAS.
- Dynamic Scheduling: OTF draft status, local vs. distributed optimizations,
chunk appropriation and fairness.
- Rechartering: what of the above should be suggested as charter items. Call
for intent to actually produce related work.

On Thursday:
- Last calls on TSCH and architecture drafts.
- Minimal draft publication
- Status on 6top related drafts, chartered and non-chartered
- ETSI plugtest coverage. What's basic support and what's stretched
- Security: Status of join process work. Suggestions for chartered work.
Positioning vs. SEC area WGs.
- More rechartering: summary of the Monday session. Same questions including
the items above.

We are now calling for the agenda items for both WG sessions.
Please send your requests to 6tisch-chairs@tools.ietf.org and Chonggang
Chonggang.Wang@InterDigital.com, and include the following information:
.	Name and link to your draft, paper, or web page.
.	A brief description of your presentation topic
.	Requested time (5 to 20 minutes)
.	Session (Monday vs. Thursday)

We are going to evaluate the requests based on WG items, charters, WG
interests and issues that require face-to-face resolution and allocate time
as we see fit.

Thanks for all!

Thomas and Pascal

Dear all:

Please keep in mind that it is a lot easier to get a slot on the agenda if
you have a I-draft that got discussed on the ML.

And that we have only 2 week before the cutoff.

Cheers,

Pascal

Dear all:

With the agenda below, there will not be a dedicated DetNet meeting but =
we
will have 30+ minutes on gap analysis, and even more time on PCE.
Please submit a request as indicated to get a slot in the agenda, either
regarding PCE or the generic DetNet work.

Cheers,

Pascal

Subject: [Detnet] IETF92- Request for 6TiSCH WG Agenda items

Dear All:

For the next IETF in Dallas, we are going to have 2 6TiSCH sessions, one =
90
minutes for unchartered work (including DetNet) and one 150 minutes for
chartered work.
Our goal is to split the sessions as follows:

Day Time Room Topic
Monday Afternoon Session II 1520-1650 CDT Continental DetNet, IoT
PCE, Dynamic Scheduling, re-chartering
Thursday Morning Session I 0900-1130 CDT Continental WG Docs,
6top, ETSI Plugtest, Security, more re-chartering

On Monday, we'd wish to see discussions on:
- DetNet: Gap analysis - need for IETF work, problem statement and
architecture, requirement drafts
- IoT PCE: Gap analysis vs. 6TiSCH needs, Barcelona workshop highlights,
6TiSCH requirements for PCE and TEAS.
- Dynamic Scheduling: OTF draft status, local vs. distributed =
optimizations,
chunk appropriation and fairness.=20
- Rechartering: what of the above should be suggested as charter items. =
Call
for intent to actually produce related work.

On Thursday:
- Last calls on TSCH and architecture drafts.=20
- Minimal draft publication
- Status on 6top related drafts, chartered and non-chartered
- ETSI plugtest coverage. What's basic support and what's stretched
- Security: Status of join process work. Suggestions for chartered work.
Positioning vs. SEC area WGs.
- More rechartering: summary of the Monday session. Same questions =
including
the items above.

We are now calling for the agenda items for both WG sessions.
Please send your requests to 6tisch-chairs@tools.ietf.org and Chonggang
Chonggang.Wang@InterDigital.com, and include the following information:
.	Name and link to your draft, paper, or web page.
.	A brief description of your presentation topic
.	Requested time (5 to 20 minutes)=20
.	Session (Monday vs. Thursday)

We are going to evaluate the requests based on WG items, charters, WG
interests and issues that require face-to-face resolution and allocate =
time
as we see fit.

Thanks for all!

Thomas and Pascal

Hello Dan:

6TiSCH is an instance of DetNet but we care that what we do shares as =
much
as possible from a broader abstraction.
At the moment it is hard to separate which piece of DetNet is absolutely
irrelevant to 6TiSCH, if any.
So yes, we are talking of what 6TiSCH needs vs. what's out there at PCE =
and
TEAS, but I think that the discussion should try to preserve the =
interests
of IP networks in general as opposed to just our foo.

Does that make sense?

Pascal

Dear all,
I=C2=B4m currently working on a Gap analysis for
DetNet. I have some preliminary questions though:

- Are we targetting specific applicability areas, such
as Flow control systems and/or Real time control
systems on standard industrial plants, mission-critical
control systems?
- I have gone through the presentations from the detnet
BOF at IETF 91; I can deduce that we are targetting
a broader view (as Pascal mentioned in a former mail)
than 6TiSCH to cover a wider range of deterministic
networks (wider than what is covered by 6TiSCH)
which are not currently IP-enabled, including in-vehicle
networks, utility control long-range networks and
general purpose monitoring networks. Here I think
about the reverse of what I have observed on recent
commercial adaptations (Profibus, ModBus over IP).
- I can also think that the main gaps are on the
*scheduling management side (as 6TiSCH does)
*network management of timers, queue schedulers and
buffers
*anything else?

Thank you.

Hello Diego:

=20

I think that you can start with the well-understood 6TiSCH gap =
(industrial process control) and expand from there to others such as AVB =
and vehicule, with the aid of the group.

Please see below:

Dear all,

I=C2=B4m currently working on a Gap analysis for
DetNet. I have some preliminary questions though:

Fantastic!

=20

- Are we targetting specific applicability areas, such
as Flow control systems and/or Real time control=20
systems on standard industrial plants, mission-critical

control systems?

=20

This is certainly in scope and we can start there.

=20

- I have gone through the presentations from the detnet=20
BOF at IETF 91; I can deduce that we are targetting=20

a broader view (as Pascal mentioned in a former mail)

than 6TiSCH to cover a wider range of deterministic=20
networks (wider than what is covered by 6TiSCH)=20

=20

- Yes but still 6tiSCH is a good start, mostly if you are presenting at =
a 6TiSCH session.=20

The IETF will not be conformable if layer2 operations are discussed too =
much, since this is beyond our scope. It is really up to cross =
participation (which we do have) to ensure that the concepts that we =
manipulate are compatible with what IEEE is and will be doing.

- 6TiSCH needs to install tracks with all the Deterministic =
capabilities, scheduled transmissions, path and packet redundancy, =
etc=E2=80=A6 which means PCE/SDN operations

- And then we have identified the need to reuse opportunistically track =
slots to forward IPv6 packets and Link bundle slots to forward scheduled =
packets that missed their track, which means that IP has a role to play =
in the DetNet world.

Certainly what you=E2=80=99ll obtain applies to a larger world than =
6TiSCH, but you=E2=80=99ll find in 6TiSCH most of the gap that DetNet in =
general will have.

=20

which are not currently IP-enabled, including in-vehicle

networks, utility control long-range networks and=20

general purpose monitoring networks. Here I think

about the reverse of what I have observed on recent

commercial adaptations (Profibus, ModBus over IP).

=20

The way we designed today, 6TiSCH tracks can carry any 802.15.4 packet, =
but will not allow opportunistic operations for non IP packets.

In general, if we tag Deterministic payload with MPLS and some variation =
of PRP, we can carry anything, and I think we should aim at that.

=20

- I can also think that the main gaps are on the

*scheduling management side (as 6TiSCH does)

*network management of timers, queue schedulers and

buffers

*anything else?

=20

We need to decide if we want to work on the northbound interface. If we =
do, we need some abstraction of the TSPEC, and we need to describe the =
push model where the user agent / app requires a service implementing =
that TSPEC from the PCE (and then the PCE pushes the tracks onto the =
network over the southbound interface)

=20

We certainly need to work on the southbound interface,=20

- what adaptation of TEAS will carry the topology (neighbors, link =
quality, interference test..) as well as the capability (buffers, =
queues, timers) as seen by individual devices.

- what adaptation of CCAMP/RSVP-TE can be used to program individual =
tracks

- what adaptation of PCEP can be used to push a device schedule (PCE is =
currently not chartered to push things to individual nodes)

=20

We need to formalize how a packet is identified as pertaining a certain =
track (I=E2=80=99d rather not use flow, the word is just too =
overloaded). Use of DiffServ/DSCP and of MPLS have to be evaluated, =
including G-MPLS for 6TiSCH.

Whether NVO3 and SFC may apply also has to be evaluated, and there is no =
PRP that I know of at the IETF, so this is probably to be done entirely =
by DetNet.

6TiSCH adds the notion of Generalized for both flow tagging and PRP. The =
flow (the track) can be determined from the timeslot in a G-MPLS =
fashion, and the PRP sequence number can be determined from the ASN.

=20

And then we need to decide if we want an LMI (a UNI) between the first =
network device and the end point to indicate availability and other =
state information of a track.

=20

Thank you.

=20

Thank You!
