Ethen,

After you finish your editing, you should not paste back into Etherpad,
it's better to leave that as a record of the meeting editing. Rather, you
should save the minutes as a text-only file from Word, and then follow
these instructions:

Please upload meeting minutes, as well as any presentations from your
sessions, at your earliest convenience using the Meeting Materials Manager
found here: https://datatracker.ietf.org/meeting/105/materials

Alternatively, you are welcome to send them to proceedings@ietf.org for
manual posting.

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Ethan,

This is a topic best discussed, off list, with the chairs. I suspect this
was your intent.

Your approach sounds fine.

Andy,

Thanks for the input. Different wgs do different things. It has been our
(chairs) practice to update the etherpad with the final minutes so there
aren't multiple versions available from different sources which may confuse
readers. Old versions of the etherpad remain available via the time-slider
function on the upper right of the etherpad page.

Lou

Hi Liang,
This is regarding your draft on DetNet Bounded Latency Requirements, and it=
s relation to the published DetNet Use Cases (RFC8578), as we discussed at =
the DetNet IETF 105 session. The point that I would like to make is that du=
ring the three years we worked on the DetNet Use Cases draft, we always exp=
ected that DetNet would be successful and so there would of course be more =
use cases after the DetNet Use Cases draft was published. So with that in m=
ind we created the DetNet Use Cases Common Themes section of RFC8578, which=
are basically the =1B$B!H=1B(Blowest common denominator=1B$B!I=1B(B of req=
uirements (parameterization) based on examining all of the use cases that w=
e had, with the reasoning that if these were enough to cover these nine use=
cases from very diverse industries, they should cover pretty much any futu=
re use case for DetNet.

So my question for you is, once you have reviewed those Common Themes (RFC8=
578 section 11), can you identify any specific gap between those Common The=
mes and what your requirements draft is asking for?

Regarding the degree of specific-ness of the RFC8578 use cases compared to =
your draft, as Janos observed during the session, there are many specific p=
erformance requirements listed in the individual use case sections, and the=
goal was to make sure that none of those were excluded from the network de=
signer=1B$B!G=1B(Bs ability to create a network that would serve that appli=
cation. In other words the Data Model (and thus YANG models) would be desig=
ned to include the relevant levers (parameters) to enable a DetNet network =
to be configured for any of these (and presumably future) use cases.

So if there are any gaps that you can see, I would say that the most import=
ant thing is to identify those gaps and present them to the WG. Then you ca=
n request from the WG that the Data Model and YANG models include these add=
itional parameters. These are still open drafts, and they represent the act=
ual ability of the network to provision a DetNet to the requirements as exp=
ressed in your draft.

Sincerely,
Ethan (as RFC8578 Editor and DetNet Secretary)

Abstract:
A deterministic network is one that can carry data flows for real-
time applications with extremely low data loss rates and bounded
latency. Deterministic networks have been successfully deployed in
real-time operational technology (OT) applications for some years
(for example [ARINC664P7]). However, such networks are typically
isolated from external access, and thus the security threat from
external attackers is low. IETF Deterministic Networking (DetNet)
specifies a set of technologies that enable creation of deterministic
networks on IP-based networks of potentially wide area (on the scale
of a corporate network) potentially bringing the OT network into
contact with Information Technology (IT) traffic and security threats
that lie outside of a tightly controlled and bounded area (such as
the internals of an aircraft). These DetNet technologies have not
previously been deployed together on a wide area IP-based network,
and thus can present security considerations that may be new to IP-
based wide area network designers. This draft, intended for use by
DetNet network designers, provides insight into these security
considerations. In addition, this draft collects all security-
related statements from the various DetNet drafts (Architecture, Use
Cases, etc) into a single location Section 8.

Hi All,
This update to the DetNet Security draft is primarily to keep the draft fro=
m expiring, but I did add a section for the technology-specific section, an=
d put some text for the IP sub-section based on list discussion. I am still=
waiting for text to be contributed for the MPLS sub-section.=20

I added a sub-section for TSN, since it is named as a sub-network technolog=
y in the Architecture draft, but as usual I'm not sure what to put there. A=
ny input is welcome, and we can always say "there is nothing to add here" (=
as we did for IP) if we believe that to be the case.=20

As always your input is solicited.=20
Thanks,
Ethan (as DetNet Security draft editor)
