After a (long) delay, we've decided to put out a new release of the
DTN2 reference implementation. As usual, it is available for download
from the web site at http://www.dtnrg.org/wiki/Code

This release is version 2.1.99 -- named as such because I really had
wanted this to be 2.2, but I ran out of time to get it there. In
particular, this version of the code is not yet up to date with the
latest version of the bundle spec (version 04), but is very close.

However, due to personal reasons, I won't be able to do much more
development work for the next month or so, and since it's been a long
while since the last release, we figured this version is at least more
up to date and stable than the previous one.

We plan to have a full 2.2.0 release by the end of March 2006 which
will fully implement the bundle specification.

Please feel free to post bugs and other usage questions to the
dtn-users mailing list.

Enjoy!

-mike

The '-d' option will cause dtnd to run as a daemon, then you can
background it with 'dtnd -d &'

It's useful when running it in the background (I find it useful,
anyway) to cause the console to listen on a port so that if one wants
to get at the daemon info like the list of queued bundles, you can.
The config line 'console set port XXXXX' does this (thanks, Mike!)
Then you can telnet to that port and get at the dtnd console.

Hi

There is any way of run dtnd in background. I don't
want the dtn% prompt.

Thanks,

Lídice

Hi,

not the paper you are looking for but we have done some TR earlier this
year related to DTN usage with proxies for web access.

See http://www.drive-thru-internet.org/pub/tr-tzi-050701.pdf

Cheers,
Joerg

Thanks a lot,

¿Does anybody have a copy of the paper "Disruption Tolerant Networking
Proxies for On-The-Move Tactical Networks" in MILCOM2005, describing
its concept and rationale? It seems that the proceedings are not yet
published.

It wasn't being sync'd to the anonymous cvs repository, but I just
fixed that so it's there now and you can download it.

TierStore is still too new and under development to really be usable
by other people. I'll make announcements on some dtn related forum
when it is.

Well, as nontrivial I mean a disconected web proxy, an e-mail system, or
a computer based learning application. If DTN is to be useful, such
applications must be built, or standard applications adapted.

I guess DTNperf is very useful, but it is not what I am looking for...:-)

You can try DTNperf, downloadable at www.pieroland.net

Hi all,

I cannot find wwwoffle_dtn. I tried:

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@code.dtnrg.org:/orig checkout wwwoffle_dtn

Is it there?
Is there any other nontrivial DTN application on top of the reference
implementation?
¿what about TierStore? ¿Is this the rigth place to talk about it?

Regards,

Joaquín Seoane

I'm assuming this is a question of how to declare a default...

A default route for the dtn scheme would be dtn://* but be warned that
there's currently no good support for choosing between different
routes (like a preference) so this will make receiving locally
addressed bundles not work very well. This is something on my todo
list to fix in the static router.

Also note that each scheme has its own wildcarding mechanism. You
could also try *:* but I haven't tested that in a while so I'm not
sure if it would work.

Thanks Michel

And there is another way to declare a default route.

No... The pattern matching for the "host" part of the dtn:// uri is
very rudimentary -- basically you can either have "*" to match
everything, or you need to fully qualify it.

That said, adding support for what you want to do is not hard, I just
haven't done it yet, though it seems like it would be useful.

The relevant function is DTNScheme::match_ssp, found in
DTN2/servlib/naming/DTNScheme.cc.
