You may also want to take a look at KioskNet, which uses the reference

Hi Sujz,

One project you might want to check out in terms of 'real life' DTN
implementations
is UMass' DieselNet
(http://prisms.cs.umass.edu/dome/index.php?page=umassdieselnet).
The deployment environment is comprised of a number of buses equipped
with low-power
devices communicating over DTN, though I'm not sure they use the reference
 implementation.

Best,

- Marc

Hello,everyone!

As we know DTN can be utilized in deep space communication in
high-delay environmnets,
satellite networks with moderate delays and periodic connectivity.etc.

But I can't find a specific senario for DTN in real ordinary life, can

Yes, I think you explained it well, but note that non-geographic routing
and late binding is possible as well.

In terms of whether to wait for the link to reappear, to find another
path, or for that matter, attempt to forward along multiple paths
simultaneously is a matter of the specific routing algorithm you choose.
I have seen all of those options being proposed.

This is a great question. Let us consider a couple of existence proofs
of how late binding is possible in practice.

* One way to think about late binding is that the endpoint names have
multiple attributes and not a single number. In this case, progress can
be made by resolve a subset of the attributes, say, ones based on rough
geographical attributes that will move information closer, before
binding other attributes that correspond to the exact topological
location. For example if you know that you are trying to reach a node
in some region, you may forward the information to a train going there,
and further resolution can happen once the train gets there.

In some cases, due to partial information availability, the routing
stretch may be more than what is achievable with an omniscient scheme.
This is a general case of the telescoping of routes that can occur in
routing to mobile endpoints based on fixed addresses. In many cases,
the latency to acquire the information will render omniscient schemes
impractical in a DTN.

Note although I used geographical attributes in the above example, you
can construct schemes that use other attributes that are not location
based, provided you create protocol infrastructure for sharing dynamic
information about those attributes.

* Another extreme alternative to support late binding in very small
networks is the use of Epidemic approaches with the destination(s)
matching and delivering the information to applications. Such a
broadcast-based approach obviously has limited scalability.

I have barely scratched the surface of this topic here, but hopefully
conveyed my opinion that this is a problem area with excellent potential
for research. :)

Best Regards,
Rajesh

Hello everyone,

I have some questions to ask:

When the source node deliveries/transfers some information to a
destination node,DTN adopts late binding
in contrast to conventional DNS's early binding,as the source node can't get
the whole toplogy of the network,
how could it begin its delivery?
If there are more than one link available simultaneously, will the
source node broadcast the bundle to each
of its remote peers? or if the next-hop link is unavailable, will the
in-between node select another available link to
instead?

      thanks a lot!

Look in directory ./servlib/routing under your DTN source root.

In the current implementation there are no specific queue limits and
the implementation model is not like a standard queue-based router,
rather there are a number of lists of bundles used throughout the
system for various purposes.

Dear.

I want to know the queue size of DTN2 implementation.
Is it using single queue for sending packet? and what is the maximum bundles
to hold?

Any comment will be appreciated.
Thank you

The problem is in your "route add" syntax -- in particular, you
probably want to use a wildcard route instead, so on node A for example:

route add dtn://B.dtn/* tcp0
route add dtn://C.dtn/* tcp0

using the /* syntax means that EIDs like dtn://C.dtn/ping will match
the route, otherwise they will not.

I'm not really sure what it is you want to know... the configuration
layer has a general mechanism for setting parameters and variables,
using the <cmd> set <var> <val> syntax.

In this case, you're selecting the string name of a routing
algorithm, which is then used in BundleRouter.cc to instantiate the
particular class that will implement the routing scheme.
