Sure, but not much. Basically, as part of our new DTN project (N4C) [1]
we have budget for the next 3 years that includes effort for some
DTN code maintenance, so we're happy, (and this time able:-), to help
with this,

S.

As you may or may not know, I'm going to be graduating shortly and
will no longer be the maintainer of the DTN reference implementation
source tree.

In addition to the continued interest from Berkeley / Intel in the DTN
work, some folks at Trinity College may be picking up some of the
maintenance tasks -- Steven Farrell can elaborate more.

Given this transition though, we have been considering moving the main
hosting location for the code repository to sourceforge. This should
enable other folks to contribute to the project administration more
easily, as the sourceforge site has resources to support multiple
administrators, has separate access control to code repositories,
documentation, etc, and thus will make the process more straightforward.

I've done some investigation and it looks like this should work fine,
and I've tested the ability to access a mercurial repository in
essentially the same way that we set it up on code.dtnrg.org. There
will certainly be some transition pains, but all in all I personally
think this is the right direction to go.

So, the main reason for this email is to a) inform you all of the
potential move and b) to solicit feedback from anyone who thinks this
is a bad idea and wants to propose an alternative. Barring any
objections, I'm planning on doing the move sometime early next week.

Cheers,
-mike

although I should add that, after enough people complained, the Cygwin
maintainers added decent support for the we'll-never-support-it-or-
properly-implement d_ino:
http://info.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/L.Wood/software/SaVi/building-under-Windows/cygwin-1.5.19-problem.html

so maybe there's hope for d_type on Cygwin yet.

see

It's a Cygwin-doesn't-support-d_type-at-all issue and they won't. See
http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2005-04/msg01017.html

No idea why the reference implementation is using d_type; it didn't at
one point. Since Cygwin is not the best choice for networking support
(no IPv6, no multicast) I'd find another platform.
