Hi,

I would like to run the DTN daemon with a MYSQL server. Unfortunately, I'm not able to install the MYSQL and Berkeley database in a way, that MYSQL and Oasys works. I can either install a downloaded Berkeley package --> in this case I'm able to make the Oasys package but not MYSQL (ha_berkley.cc errors) ; or I can use the Berkeley files from the MYSQL package --> in this case I'm able to make the MYSQL but Oasys can't find the lib and include paths (which don't exist).

Can someone please give me a hint what I’m doing wrong?!

I’ve tried MYSQL several 5.0.x and 4.1.x versions and also several Berkeley versions (4.0,4.3,4.6,4.8)

on an Ubuntu Version 9.1 distribution.

Thank you,

Hannes Mair

Summary: Build on a 64-bit host fails

Initial Comment:
Updated aclocal/gcc.ac to add $picflags so resulting configure script will recognize shared library support in 64-bit systems.

In our wiki, we have some notes dated August 2006, which describe how a
student working here built dtnd for the gumstix platform.

I can't really comment on this further, as I've not tried it, don't have
access to a gumstix target, and don't have the gumstix dev tools available
to me. I'm posting it in case it is of some use. Note that this is old
info and may not be relevant anymore.

Cheers,

Darren

DTN

I also got the DTN <http://www.dtnrg.org/> reference implementation to
compile in the buildroot, using dtn.mk
<http://wiki.pto.optronics.co.uk/wiki/index.php/Gumstix_buildroot_dtn.mk> .

*	DTN requires RPC to be enabled in uClibc. Instructions are provided
in the gumstix-buildroot.
*	The Tcl package seemed broken: make sure Tcl include files are in
/include in both the staging and target directories, and copy the Tcl
libraries from the target directory back to the staging directory.
*	Use the CVS version of DTN. The Makefile won't download from CVS, so
get it manually, place it in $(BUILD_DIR)/dtn_cvs, and create the .source
file in dtn_cvs.
*	DTN Bluetooth support didn't compile, so I disabled it.

On the Gumstix, the DTN server didn't like the way the time defaults to
December 31st 1969. I had trouble setting the time on the Gumstix, with
unreliable success using NTP, but once it was set the DTN server seemed to
work. However, all the other DTN applications (dtnping, dtnsend etc) caused
Segmentation Faults.

I tried this CC=/usr/local/arm-linux/bin/

gcc
./configure --host=i686-linux --prefix=/usr/local/arm-linux
--target=arm-linux

Configure worked well, however when did a make i ended up with the error

CROSS COMPILE BADNESS: /usr/include in path /usr/include/tcl8.4

cc1:internal compiler error in addpath at c-incpath.c 362

Please help

I did something along these lines:

CC=/usr/local/arm-linux/bin/gcc
./configure --host=i686-linux --prefix=/usr/local/arm-linux
--target=arm-linux

This "mostly" worked. I had to change a little here and there (given the
various sets of packages one needs) but did ultimately get something out the
other side.

&gt; Hiya,<br>
&gt;<br>
&gt; Its not that well documented in DTN2 afaik, and I&#39;d<br>
&gt; bet that no-one has time to fix that quicker than<br>
&gt; you&#39;ll figure it out;-)<br>
&gt;<br>
&gt; Briefly, the way it works is you first setup your<br>
&gt; cross-compiler for the relevant target architecture<br>
&gt; (that&#39;s generic gcc stuff, documented in loads of<br>
&gt; places), and then you do:<br>
&gt;<br>
&gt; =A0 $ ./configure --target=3D&lt;&lt;arm-linux&gt;&gt;<br>
&gt;<br>
&gt; Where &lt;&lt;arm-linux&gt;&gt; is whatever your gcc cross<br>
&gt; compiler expects to be there.<br>
&gt;<br>
&gt; Then just build as normal and you end up with arm<br>
&gt; binaries.<br>
&gt;<br>
&gt; Only other thing to mention is that its possible<br>
&gt; to build from one source tree with the object etc.<br>
&gt; for more than one target architecture, but I forget<br>
&gt; just how to set that up. (It does work though.)<br>

Summary: Build on a 64-bit host fails

Initial Comment:
Updated aclocal/gcc.ac to add $picflags so resulting configure script will recognize shared library support in 64-bit systems.

Hi All,

I am trying to enable security features in DTN2.
I have dtn-2.6.0 installed on Fedora core 8. I followed the instructions from this link:

http://www.tslab.ssvl.kth.se/csd/projects/1011248/sites/default/files/How%20to%20enable%20security%20in%20DTN2.pdf

The configuration went well, however during MAKE I encountered this error.
I will appreciate any help with this.

Hi,
In BundleProtocol.h, the bundle type code 0x09 is being used for sessionblock processing while it should be assigned to Extension Security Block ...

Is there any demonstration application to show the security functionality implemented in DTN2..

thanks ..

regards,
Nasir

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has configuration files for the ONE simulator for
any of the following protocols:
Direct Delivery
Mobile Vehicle
First Contact
Simple Replication
Or if you know of any useful sites that can assist me in creating them. I am
trying to evaluate which of these will be the best. Also, I intend to use
the most useful components of to generate a very diverse protocol. I am
willing to share my results if anyone would like to see them. I can also use
basically any other protocol that is out there I know there are many more,
so if someone does have the files configured for ONE, I would be grateful
for those also. Feel free to contact me directly if need be.
Thank you for your time.
Sean

I did something along these lines:

CC=/usr/local/arm-linux/bin/gcc
./configure --host=i686-linux --prefix=/usr/local/arm-linux --target=arm-linux

This "mostly" worked. I had to change a little here and there (given the various sets of packages one needs) but did ultimately get something out the other side.

The caveat with cross compiling is that DTN2 has a fair number of external dependencies now, and you'll have to cross compile and install those too. If you've never cross compiled before, this is a pretty rough place to start.

Dear DTN developers,

I believe TableBasedRouter.cc does not handle ECLA based links
correctly. DTN will crash if there is a bundle that should be routed
to a ECLA managed link and an external handler is not yet registered
(which happens everytime we start the DTN daemon). I attach a quick
fix for this problem that I would like you to review and comment
(probably we should fix this elsewhere - maybe in the ECLA code).

Regards,
Ricardo Martins

Hiya,

Its not that well documented in DTN2 afaik, and I'd
bet that no-one has time to fix that quicker than
you'll figure it out;-)

Briefly, the way it works is you first setup your
cross-compiler for the relevant target architecture
(that's generic gcc stuff, documented in loads of
places), and then you do:

   $ ./configure --target=<<arm-linux>>

Where <<arm-linux>> is whatever your gcc cross
compiler expects to be there.

Then just build as normal and you end up with arm
binaries.

Only other thing to mention is that its possible
to build from one source tree with the object etc.
for more than one target architecture, but I forget
just how to set that up. (It does work though.)

Stephen.

PS: If you do figure this out, feel free to document
it for the next person!
