Hallo,

I have two questions:about 'requirements of interoperable Internet EDI'

* When will the solution become a standard, protocol because that would make
things a lot easier

* Is S/MIME accepted as a standard

If you can help me please do so

thanks

Marc

Hallo,

I have read the book 'XML/EDI Cyber Assisted Business in practice'. (Dick
Raman)

I am not sure if I understood it correctly. That is why I am looking for an
example

for instance "an order" in:

*EDIFACT
* XML/EDI Top-down approach
*XML/EDI Bottom-up Approach (like UN-XML) ( keeping the existing standard
intact )

So what I am looking for is three structures of the same example

Is there anyone that can provide me this information?
You'd do me a pleasure

Thanks!

Marc

We have a number of customers up on EDIINT in support of Dell Computer...
neither here nor there... and would also be interested in this list as it

Kit,

Several vendors last year performed the EDIINT AS1 interoperable tests and
were certified by
CommerceNet...

Cyclone Commerce - aka Cyclone Software
GEIS
DEC
Harbinger
IPNet
Microsoft
Netscape
SAA - UK
SoftShare
Sterling Commerce
Waltrip.

AS2 - There has never been any official test for AS2, so which vendors
support AS2 is
still an unknown.....

I do know that Cyclone, Sterling and Harbinger have indicated that they
supported various portions
of AS2.

I hope this helps....

Terry Harding

Thanks ... I had seen that information in a previous note. My question was
about actual production use.

Thanks.

If I might just add Perwill plc (http://www.perwill.com) to the list -
although not CommerceNet certified, we were party to a UK based equivalent
scheme and we have several clients who are using EDIINT in production
environments (being cheaper than traditional VANs).

We currently do customer oriented X12 PO's, Invoices, etc. either through a
VAN or have the data FTP'd to a server outside of our firewall. I have been
asked to explore "Web EDI". Anybody have any suggestiobns, know of any

I guess it depends on what you want to do. When I think of Web EDI, I think
of browser based forms which are completed by someone without EDI
capability. All the big EDI software providers have solutions for this,
e.g., Sterling Commerce, Harbinger, GEIS, etc., and there are others. The
other possibility is the transmission of EDI documents over the Internet.

Take a look at http://www.edi-info-center.com/#Internet There are a lot of
links there on EDI/EC Internet topics. Particularly appropriate for this
mailing list is http://www.ietf.org/ids.by.wg/ediint.html which includes:
"Requirements for Inter-operable Internet EDI", Rik Drummond, T Harding, C.
Shih, 10/12/1999. (114489 bytes)
This document is a functional specification, discussing the requirements for
inter-operable EDI, with sufficient background material to give an
explanation for the EDI community of the Internet and security related
issues.
"MIME-based Secure EDI", Rik Drummond, T Harding, C. Shih, 10/12/1999.
(59187 bytes)
This document describes how to securely exchange EDI and other business
related documents using MIME and public key cryptography.
"HTTP Transport for Secure EDI", Dick Brooks, Rik Drummond, Dale Moberg,
10/14/1999. (60383 bytes)
This document describes how to exchange EDI documents securely using http
transport for EDI data that is packaged in MIME messages that use public key
security body parts.

I am using a product from Netscape called TradingXpert. It allows you to
send POs, PO Changes and others. You can also turn the documents around into
and invoice, credit invoice, PO acknowledgement. You can receive functional
acknowledgements. You can send e-mail when a document arrives at the
destination. There are many other features.

I have had this product in production since 12/01/99.
