In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-gsmp-06.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

VC Directionality
A value specifying bidirectional VC capability, which means that the
Switch can (within a given VPI) support the use of a given VCI as
a label for both link directions independently.
Or it specifies unidirectional VC capability, which means (within a
given VPI) that a given VCI may be utilize for only one direction at
        the link.

We develop MPLS system based on ATM switch using GSMP and LDP/CR-LDP Protocols.

Label Allocation Procedure of LDP/CR-LDP Protocol is different according to the VC Directionality of Port.

But, Currently GSMP Protocol doesnot have the field that indicates the VC directionality.

LDP/CR-LDP don't know the VC-Directionality for Port. Current, LDP/CR-LDP assume that VC Directionality

for Port has Bi-Direction capability.

So, I suggest that one bit of Label Range field of Port Type Specific Data in Port Configuration Message

be deleted and Direction Field be added at the bit.

How do you think about it?

Best regards,
Hoyong Ryu.

Hi,

I was about to send the list a last call on the Spec when I received
your message. I have been thinking about how to respond to this
request, and hoping that someone else on the list would have an
opinion on the topic.

Personally I have a few concerns:

- I don't really think that halving the label count range is a good
idea. I know that even 127 label count ranges seems reasonable, but
256 includes some insurance for the future or for extreme designs.

-I think you are right that that this is an item that the switch should
include in the port configuration. I would be more likely to include
it in the general part of the message since it would not necessarily be
an ATM specific issue.

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
| PortType |S|B|x|x|x|x|x|x| Data Fields Length |
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

B: if set indicates that switch is capable of using an individual
label as both an input and an output label in the same session.
(or since this may be the rule, a U flag could be defined as the
obverse)

-I am wondering if this constitutes a substantive change and whether
I would need to recycle the draft due to this change. If so, I should
recycle before I start the last call. Except for the fact that I
cannot
submit a new draft for a least 2 weeks and that would delay the process.
And I don't want to delay the last call - i.e. I want to initiate it
today
or tomorrow.

Opinions on all of the issues is invited.

thanks
a.

Hi,

It is time to create the agenda.

I have these topics:

- Discussion of last call docs (spec, encap, mib, applicability)
note: last call will be announced shortly.
- discussion of proposed new charter
- discussion of draft-khosravi-IP-Fwd-PIB-00.txt

Anything else?

Regards,
a.

This message is to announce working group last-call on the memo
described below:

This draft is on the Standards Track.

----------------------------------------------------------------

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
This draft is a work item of the General Switch Management Protocol
Working Group of the IETF.

Title : General Switch Management Protocol V3
	Author(s)	: A. Doria, F. Hellstrand, K. Sundell, T. Worster
	Filename	: draft-ietf-gsmp-06.txt
	Pages : 152
	Date : 07-Jul-00

This memo provides the sixth draft of the standards track
specification of the General Switch Management protocol (GSMP).
This release is intended for working group last call.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-gsmp-06.txt

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username
"anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After logging in,
type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-gsmp-06.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-gsmp-06.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

Title : GSMP Packet Encapsulations for ATM, Ethernet and TCP
	Author(s)	: T. Worster, A. Doria
	Filename	: draft-ietf-gsmp-encaps-02.txt
	Pages : 7
	Date : 12-Jul-00

This memo specifies the encapsulation of GSMP packets in ATM,
Ethernet and TCP.

Avri,

Reading through the document, I noticed a few minor editorial problems:

section 3.1.3.2.8
The section is titled 'Unstructured DS1 Service', but the first sentence
contains 'Type = E3-E1'. I believe it should read 'Type = U-DS1'.

the description of the B Flag reads 'Details on the use of the B flag can be
found in section '. It looks like the particular section to be referenced
was left off.

Should the description of the PortType for DS3/E3 and DS1/E1 be referred to
as 'DS3/E3 CES' and 'DS1/E1 CES'. This would be more consistent given the
fact that ATM, FR, and MPLS ports could physically be DS3/E3 or DS1/E1.

section 8.2.1.5
The section is titled 'PortType Specific data for PortType=DS1/E1, but the
first sentence contains 'PortType=DS3/E3. I believe it should read
'PortType=DS1/E1'

Sorry for not being able to provide more help in contributing towards this
effort, but my priorities were shifted to other things. Good work on
getting v3 to its current state.

Clint

correct. the spec will reflect your observation.

yes, and the pointer to the missing reference should be removed as well since we
don't use the B- or BA- flag any longer. thanks.

ok, does anybody on the list object to this?

COPS-PR to set IP forwarding entries in an IP forwarding device.
I will be presenting this draft in the GSMP wg for discussion
as I believe that it will be of interest to the working group.
