Hi,

I have a question to the Header object (section 5.9). Sorry if this has been
asked/answered already, I just subscribed to the list in order to clarify an
understanding problem that came up and did not want to walk through all the
previous posts.

The question is rather simple: is the Header object mandatory, and if so, may it
also be placed at the end of the deposit (which should be possible from an XML
schema standpoint)? One the one hand, we would like to avoid the extra counting
in the database, on the other hand we would like to avoid to build up the whole
XML document in the memory first just to insert the header at the top after
having counted the objects during the generation of their XML representation.

Regards,

Klaus

Stuart,

I believe that both internal and external hosts need to be included in the =
deposit, since the goal of the deposit is to capture the information contai=
ned in the registry database. Both internal and external hosts are first-c=
lass objects in the registry database, so they must be included in the depo=
sit. The name server links between the domain names and the hosts should r=
esult in an objects at both ends of the links, meaning external hosts canno=
t be excluded from the deposit to make the links complete.

Subject: [ire] About Host Data Issue

Hi All,

We are puzzled with the host data in deposit, we used to think that the hos=
t data should be the name servers associated with domain in the deposit, in=
 this case some other gTLD's NSes may be included in deposits such as ns1.=
google.com,etc.
But now we tend to believe that the hosts under the same registry should be=
 the answer, that is only the hosts under new gTLD 'xn--fiq64b' should be i=
ncluded in xn--fiq64b's deposit file.

Are we right? Or both of the hosts under the registry and the NSes which ma=
y not under the registry should be included?

Regards,
Stuart

I see no need for a deposit to include external hosts, however their omissi=
on may complicate the process of restoring a registry. Furthermore, I'd exp=
ect escrow agents check that all name-server associations have correspondin=
g host objects, where host objects are used.

James

Regards,
Stuart

It would be ideal if we could get some clarity with regards of what type =
of checks Escrow agents are supposed to be doing.

They could technically:

A) Verify just the signature
B) Verify the signature + schema
C) Verify the signature + schema + object relationships
D) Do none of the above

Registries now need to send a report to ICANN regarding escrow deposits
sent to the Escrow Agent. The details about the response that I see are:

After successfully receiving a <rdeReport:report> object, ICANN
validates it and provides a result code in the same HTTP transaction.
2.1.1 <http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-lozano-icann-registry-interfaces-00#section-2.1.1>.
 Result codes

   The following table lists the result codes of the interface:

   +-----------+-------------------------------------------------------+
   | Result    | Description                                           |

   | 1000 | No ERRORs were found and the report has been accepted |
   |           | by ICANN.                                             |
   | 2001 | The report did not validate against the schema. |
   | 2002      | A report for that day already exists, the cut-off     |
   |           | date already passed.                                  |

                    Data Escrow Reporting Result Codes

Are there any more details about this response? Will the result code
be in an html snippet that we parse to get the result code?

We placed the <header> element at the end of the deposit, and our escrow
agent has not had any issues processing and validating our deposit.

Thanks,
James

Colleagues,

This is to let you know that we are launching a public, open mailing list
for technical discussions regarding gTLD registries and registrars. The
intention is to provide a forum for discussion of issues that may appear
during ongoing operation and particularly with the upcoming launch of new
gTLDs.

You can subscribe to the list at:

https://mm.icann.org/mailman/listinfo/gtld-tech

Hi,

I am currently working on implementing escrow for us and encountered
some problems for NNDN and EppParams

All the xsd definitions from
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-arias-noguchi-dnrd-objects-mapping-03
work fine for me but:

urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:rdeNNDN-1.0
urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:rdeEppParams-1.0

both define the the content type as abstract="true" which does not work
for a validating XML creator

  <element name="abstractEppParams"
     type="rdeEppParams:abstractContentType"
     substitutionGroup="rde:content" abstract="true"/>

and

   <element name="abstractNNDN" type="rdeNNDN:abstractContentType"
     substitutionGroup="rde:content" abstract="true"/>
   <element name="NNDN" substitutionGroup="rdeNNDN:abstractNNDN"/>
   <element name="delete" type="rdeNNDN:deleteType"
     substitutionGroup="rde:delete"/>

   <!-- Content Type -->
   <complexType name="abstractContentType">
     <complexContent>
       <extension base="rde:contentType">
         <sequence>

vs correctly

  <element name="contents" type="rdeContact:contentsType"
substitutionGroup="rde:contents"/>
   <complexType name="contentsType">
     <complexContent>
       <extension base="rde:contentsType"/>
     </complexContent>
   </complexType>

abstract types may not be instantiated so I am not able to build a valid
XML based on those definitions

If there is a misunderstanding on my side please excuse & correct me,
but I think the definitons have to be reconsidered

best regards
Mark Hofstetter
