Hello folks,

I've written up a new Internet Draft for submission next week.

Here is the abstract.
> Some implementations of Mobile IP home agents have been observed to
> supply zero authentication data when sending a Registration Reply to
> the mobile node that contains rejection code 131 (Mobile Node Failed
> Authentication). This creates a vulnerability whereby a mobile node
> could be denied service from its home agent, and thus lose
> connectivity to the Internet even though mobile node and home agent
> were otherwise functioning properly.
>

If possible, I would like to have a slot at the
upcoming IETF to discuss this matter. It would
be a short presentation.

Regards,
Charlie P.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
This draft is a work item of the Mobility for IPv4 Working Group of the IETF.

Title : IP Mobility Support for IPv4, revised
	Author(s)	: C. Perkins
	Filename	: draft-ietf-mip4-rfc3344bis-08.txt
	Pages : 108
	Date : 2009-10-7

This document specifies protocol enhancements that allow transparent
routing of IP datagrams to mobile nodes in the Internet. Each mobile
node is always identified by its home address, regardless of its
current point of attachment to the Internet. While situated away
from its home, a mobile node is also associated with a care-of
address, which provides information about its current point of
attachment to the Internet. The protocol provides for registering
the care-of address with a home agent. The home agent sends
datagrams destined for the mobile node through a tunnel to the
care-of address. After arriving at the end of the tunnel, each
datagram is then delivered to the mobile node.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-mip4-rfc3344bis-08.txt

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP at:
ftp://ftp.ietf.org/internet-drafts/

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

Charles,

Do you think it could make sense to cite rfc5177 "Network Mobility
(NEMO) Extensions for Mobile IPv4" in this 3344bis Mobile IPv4 draft?

I am asking because (contrary to the Mobile IPv6 situation) the
rfc3344bis draft makes explicit textual statements about "Mobile
Router", which is a central entity of rfc5177.

Alex

Hello Alex,

Yes, I think it would be a better fit.
Do other people have opinions about this?

Regards,
Charlie P.

Hello Alex,

Yes, I think it would be a better fit.
Do other people have opinions about this?

* Overview:
e-Energy 2010 is the first international conference on energy-efficient
computing and networking. Due to the increasing significance of power
consumption, the goal of e-Energy is to bring together researchers,
developers, practitioners working in this area to discuss recent and
innovative results, and identify future directions and challenges.
The spreading of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has
contributed much to the reduction of energy consumption in many areas of
everyday life. Nevertheless ICT has to move ahead and be more
energy-efficient itself. e-Energy addresses the entire IT-world.
The conference addresses the fields of servers and communication
infrastructures, services in data centers, end-systems in home and
office environments, sensor networks, and future networks such as
the Future Internet.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Instrumentation and measurement of energy-efficient computing and
networking
- Energy and performance profiling, accounting of energy consumption
- Metrics, benchmarks, interfaces, tools
- Monitoring and management concepts
- Energy, performance, quality of service and other resource tradeoffs
- Energy-efficient networking and protocols
- Energy-efficient peer-to-peer networking and overlays
- Future energy-efficient architectures
- Energy-efficient application design
- Load, heat, and resource modeling
- Load, heat, and resource management
- Reliability and power management
- Energy-efficient grid, cloud, and data-center technology
- Energy-efficiency and virtualization
- Energy-efficiency, resource sharing and security
- SmartGrids: new computing and networking contributions
- Sensing techniques and sensor networks for energy awareness
- Energy-efficient network components (switches, routers etc.)
- Design methodologies and tools for energy-efficient services
- Security challenges in energy-efficient computing and
networking

Hi everyone,

Last week, I posted a new version of Home Agent Assisted Route
Optimization draft. There are quite a few changes, mostly coming from
clarifications, clean-ups and even small functional changes, mostly due to
experiences gathered during simulation work.

Draft is now viewable at
http://www.ietf.org/id/draft-makela-mip4-nemo-haaro-05.txt
if you wish to take a look.

I have sent a request to the chairs for adopting this as an IETF draft
for eventual publication as an experimental RFC, as per the new charter.

See you all in Hiroshima!

* Overview:
e-Energy 2010 is the first international conference on energy-efficient
computing and networking. Due to the increasing significance of power
consumption, the goal of e-Energy is to bring together researchers,
developers, practitioners working in this area to discuss recent and
innovative results, and identify future directions and challenges.
The spreading of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has
contributed much to the reduction of energy consumption in many areas of
everyday life. Nevertheless ICT has to move ahead and be more
energy-efficient itself. e-Energy addresses the entire IT-world.
The conference addresses the fields of servers and communication
infrastructures, services in data centers, end-systems in home and
office environments, sensor networks, and future networks such as
the Future Internet.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Instrumentation and measurement of energy-efficient computing and
networking
- Energy and performance profiling, accounting of energy consumption
- Metrics, benchmarks, interfaces, tools
- Monitoring and management concepts
- Energy, performance, quality of service and other resource tradeoffs
- Energy-efficient networking and protocols
- Energy-efficient peer-to-peer networking and overlays
- Future energy-efficient architectures
- Energy-efficient application design
- Load, heat, and resource modeling
- Load, heat, and resource management
- Reliability and power management
- Energy-efficient grid, cloud, and data-center technology
- Energy-efficiency and virtualization
- Energy-efficiency, resource sharing and security
- SmartGrids: new computing and networking contributions
- Sensing techniques and sensor networks for energy awareness
- Energy-efficient network components (switches, routers etc.)
- Design methodologies and tools for energy-efficient services
- Security challenges in energy-efficient computing and
networking

Hello:

IPv6 migration is the burning issue for all mobile operators
today. From operational perspective, IPv6 migration is not
a trivial issue. It has wide implications on the OSS and on
many infrastructure elements. It is important that we discuss
the IPv6 migration issues in the context of IP mobility
architectures and explore the potential solutions, so we can
provide reasonable guidance to all mobile operators.

With this objective in mind, I will be presenting the Gateway
Initiated Dual-stack lite at the next mip4 meeting. I will use
the 15 mins slot to provide sufficient background on all
potential solutions along with the proposed solution.

Topic: IPv6 Migration support in Mobility Architectures

Draft:
http://www.ietf.org/id/draft-gundavelli-softwire-gateway-init-ds-lite-00.txt

Regards
Sri
