------------------------------------------------------------------------

****** SUBMISSION DEADLINE: August 15th, 2011 *******

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Eighth Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous=20
Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous 2011) will=20
provide a forum for practitioners and researchers from diverse=20
backgrounds to interact and exchange experiences about the design and=20
implementation of mobile and ubiquitous systems. Areas addressed by the=20
conference include systems, applications, social networks, middleware,=20
networking, data management and services, all with special focus on=20
mobility and ubiquitous computing.=20

ICST MobiQuitous 2011 is soliciting original and previously unpublished=20
research papers from industry researchers and professionals for the 1st=20
Industry Track session of the conference.=20

Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  - Ubiquitous architectures, systems and applications
  - Wearable computing and personal area networks
  - Enabling wireless technologies (BT, ZigBee, 802.15.x, WiFi, WiMAX)
  - Ad hoc and sensor networks for ubiquitous computing
  - Reconfigurability and personalization
  - Wireless/mobile service management and delivery
  - Security, privacy and trust of mobile and ubiquitous systems
  - Social networks for mobile and ubiquitous computing
  - Community based computing
  - Service and knowledge discovery, matching and composition mechanisms
  - Localization and tracking in ubiquitous environments
  - Context- and location-aware applications
  - Agent technologies in ubiquitous, wearable, and mobile systems
  - Energy-efficient and green ubiquitous systems
  - Toolkits, testbeds, dev. environments, languages for ubiquitous comp.
  - Rapid prototyping of ubiquitous applications
  - Mobile and ubiquitous data management and processing
  - Data replication, migration and dissemination in ubiquitous env.
  - Queries, transactions and workflows in mobile and ubiquitous env.
  - Multimodal sensing and interfaces
  - User generated content
  - Content management and distribution in IoT and ubiquitous systems
  - Vehicle-to-X communication (V2V, V2I, V2B) for ubiquitous computing
  - Mobile P2P networks for ubiquitous computing
  - Ubiquitous system prototypes, measurements, deployment experiences

The Industry Track session is intended to specially highlight system
experiences and proofs-of-concept in the areas above. Like regular=20
papers, the Industry Track papers will undergo a review process by an
international TPC and will appear in the conference proceedings.

However, the selection criteria for Industry Track papers are slightly
different. Particularly, papers should describe applications, prototypes
or experiences of clear industry relevance. Papers with narrow=20
algorithmic focus or only high-level design details are discouraged. A=20
key goal of this session is to present systems-oriented research that
exposes the academic and research communities to real-life issues and=20
problems being faced in industry. Accordingly, papers will be evaluated,=20
less on the novelty of specific algorithmic content, but by the=20
originality and general applicability of insights that can be inferred
from the authors' implementation experience.

PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paper submission will be handled electronically (see the details and=20
instructions at http://mobiquitous.org/industry.php). Authors should
prepare an Adobe Acrobat PDF version of their full paper. Papers must
not exceed 12 pages single column (US Letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches)
including text, figures and references. The font size must be at least
10 points.

Hi Alex. At this point, I don't think we should debate DHCPv4-based vs =
NEMOv4-based prefix allocation. Given your implementation does not =
support explicit mode, the issue identified with the draft would not be =
encountered.

Our NEMOv4 implementation does not use explicit mode, but only the=20
implicit mode (i.e. no prefix in the RegReq). As such there is no means =

for our HA to check for a request of prefix allocation.

Currently I am divided between trying DHCP subnet allocation or NEMOv4=20
prefix allocation.

Subject: [Mip4] AD review of draft-ietf-mip4-nemov4-dynamic

I have reviewed this draft. I think it is short, well written and ready=20
to move forward with the exception of one issue:

> According to this specification, a Mobile Router MAY include one or
> more mobile network request extensions with the prefix field set to
> zero.=20
...
> In this case, the Mobile Router MAY set the
> prefix length field of such extensions to zero or to a length of its
> choice as a hint to the home agent.
...
> If in response to a registration request with a mobile network
> request extension with the prefix field set to zero, a Mobile Router
> receives a registration reply with a network acknowledgement
> extension including Code field set to 1 "invalid prefix", it may use
> it as a hint that the home agent does not support dynamic prefix
> allocation.
> =20

But RFC 5177 says:
> When the prefix
> length is zero or greater than decimal 32, the status Code MUST be
> set to MOBNET_INVALID_PREFIX_LEN.
> =20

I think the model for backwards compatibility needs work. Specifically,=20
if the mobile router uses a non-zero prefix length as a hint, it may=20
happen that a plain RFC 5177 implementation thinks its a real prefix=20
request, mistakenly inserts the prefix (with zero bits) to some routing=20
table somewhere but does not check that this causes an error or=20
undefined behavior. There is no text in RFC 5177 that asks to check for=20
zero bits.

I see a few possibilities to fix this problem.

1) Convince ourselves that existing NEMOv4 implementations do in fact=20
check for zero, despite RFC 5177 text.

2) Drop the prefix size hint functionality from this draft.

3) Move the prefix size hint to a new optional attribute that is carried

separately in the requests.

Do you agree that this is a problem, or am I missing something obvious?=20
If this is a problem, what does the working group want to do?

Jari

****** SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO: August 29th, 2011 *******

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Eighth Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous=20
Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous 2011) will=20
provide a forum for practitioners and researchers from diverse=20
backgrounds to interact and exchange experiences about the design and=20
implementation of mobile and ubiquitous systems. Areas addressed by the=20
conference include systems, applications, social networks, middleware,=20
networking, data management and services, all with special focus on=20
mobility and ubiquitous computing.=20

ICST MobiQuitous 2011 is soliciting original and previously unpublished=20
research papers from industry researchers and professionals for the 1st=20
Industry Track session of the conference.=20

Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  - Ubiquitous architectures, systems and applications
  - Wearable computing and personal area networks
  - Enabling wireless technologies (BT, ZigBee, 802.15.x, WiFi, WiMAX)
  - Ad hoc and sensor networks for ubiquitous computing
  - Reconfigurability and personalization
  - Wireless/mobile service management and delivery
  - Security, privacy and trust of mobile and ubiquitous systems
  - Social networks for mobile and ubiquitous computing
  - Community based computing
  - Service and knowledge discovery, matching and composition mechanisms
  - Localization and tracking in ubiquitous environments
  - Context- and location-aware applications
  - Agent technologies in ubiquitous, wearable, and mobile systems
  - Energy-efficient and green ubiquitous systems
  - Toolkits, testbeds, dev. environments, languages for ubiquitous comp.
  - Rapid prototyping of ubiquitous applications
  - Mobile and ubiquitous data management and processing
  - Data replication, migration and dissemination in ubiquitous env.
  - Queries, transactions and workflows in mobile and ubiquitous env.
  - Multimodal sensing and interfaces
  - User generated content
  - Content management and distribution in IoT and ubiquitous systems
  - Vehicle-to-X communication (V2V, V2I, V2B) for ubiquitous computing
  - Mobile P2P networks for ubiquitous computing
  - Ubiquitous system prototypes, measurements, deployment experiences

The Industry Track session is intended to specially highlight system
experiences and proofs-of-concept in the areas above. Like regular=20
papers, the Industry Track papers will undergo a review process by an
international TPC and will appear in the conference proceedings.

However, the selection criteria for Industry Track papers are slightly
different. Particularly, papers should describe applications, prototypes
or experiences of clear industry relevance. Papers with narrow=20
algorithmic focus or only high-level design details are discouraged. A=20
key goal of this session is to present systems-oriented research that
exposes the academic and research communities to real-life issues and=20
problems being faced in industry. Accordingly, papers will be evaluated,=20
less on the novelty of specific algorithmic content, but by the=20
originality and general applicability of insights that can be inferred
from the authors' implementation experience.

PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paper submission will be handled electronically (see the details and=20
instructions at http://mobiquitous.org/industry.php). Authors should

	Date : 2011-08-16

This specification defines extensions to Mobile IPv4 protocol for
allowing a mobile node with multiple interfaces to register a care-of
address for each of its network interfaces and to simultaneously
establish multiple Mobile IP tunnels with its home agent. This
essentially allows the mobile node to utilize all the available
network interfaces and build an higher aggregated data pipe with the
home agent for its home address traffic. Furthermore, these
extensions also allow the mobile node and the home agent to negotiate
flow policies for binding individual traffic flows with the
   registered care-of addresses.

Scope:
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

With the increasing number of vehicles and rapid development of wireless
technologies, vehicular communications, networks and systems are becoming
more and more popular. This area of research is in its early stages and the=
re is
still much to be done in order to realize the vision of Intelligent Transpo=
rtation
Systems (ITS). The aim of vehicular communication systems, and thus ITS, is=
 to
improve traffic safety, protect environment by reducing traffic congestion =
and
fuel consumption, and enable a plethora of new applications such as mobile
infotainment and location-based services for mobile users. To facilitate bo=
th
safety and non-safety applications, the integration of communications and
computing technologies into vehicular and transportation systems becomes a
must. These result in various types of cooperative vehicular communications
and networks: intra-vehicle, vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), vehicle-to-ro=
adside
(V2R), and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications.

While many conferences and workshops provide a venue to present and discuss
vehicular communication, network protocols and solutions, only few research
works addressed issues related to measurements, modeling and experimentatio=
ns
in such systems. So, the primary objective of the WVCN workshop will be to =
discuss
the issues related to these themes.

The focus of this workshop is to serve as a forum to share new ideas/experi=
ences in
all experimental, measurement and modeling aspects of vehicular communicati=
ons
and networks, and facilitate discussions of key unresolved challenges in th=
is area.
Submitted papers should be original and previously unpublished.

Dear iesg-secretary (BCC'd):

This is a request for the IESG to consider publication of
draft-ietf-mip4-nemo-haaro-05 as an Experimental RFC.
Answers to the questionnaire are below.

> (1.a) Who is the Document Shepherd for this document? Has the
> Document Shepherd personally reviewed this version of the
> document and, in particular, does he or she believe this
> version is ready for forwarding to the IESG for publication?

The document shepherd is Pete McCann. Yes, I have reviewed
this version of the document and I believe it is ready for publication.

> (1.b) Has the document had adequate review both from key WG members
> and from key non-WG members? Does the Document Shepherd have
> any concerns about the depth or breadth of the reviews that
> have been performed?

Yes, and no.

> (1.c) Does the Document Shepherd have concerns that the document
> needs more review from a particular or broader perspective,
> e.g., security, operational complexity, someone familiar with
> AAA, internationalization or XML?

No.

> (1.d) Does the Document Shepherd have any specific concerns or
> issues with this document that the Responsible Area Director
> and/or the IESG should be aware of? For example, perhaps he
> or she is uncomfortable with certain parts of the document, or
> has concerns whether there really is a need for it. In any
> event, if the WG has discussed those issues and has indicated
> that it still wishes to advance the document, detail those
> concerns here. Has an IPR disclosure related to this document
> been filed? If so, please include a reference to the
> disclosure and summarize the WG discussion and conclusion on
> this issue.

The document contains a novel compression scheme for realm names
that perhaps could have instead borrowed from existing practice in the
DNS protocol. However, the authors claim greater efficiency.
No IPR claims were filed against this draft.

> (1.e) How solid is the WG consensus behind this document? Does it
> represent the strong concurrence of a few individuals, with
> others being silent, or does the WG as a whole understand and
> agree with it?

Consensus is solid.

> (1.f) Has anyone threatened an appeal or otherwise indicated extreme
> discontent? If so, please summarise the areas of conflict in
> separate email messages to the Responsible Area Director. (It
> should be in a separate email because this questionnaire is
> entered into the ID Tracker.)

No.

> (1.g) Has the Document Shepherd personally verified that the
> document satisfies all ID nits? (See the Internet-Drafts Checklist
> and http://tools.ietf.org/tools/idnits/). Boilerplate checks are
> not enough; this check needs to be thorough. Has the document
> met all formal review criteria it needs to, such as the MIB
> Doctor, media type and URI type reviews?

Nits checker reveals 4 lines that are slightly too long, two slightly outdated
references. These can be fixed as part of the RFC editor process.

> (1.h) Has the document split its references into normative and
> informative? Are there normative references to documents that
> are not ready for advancement or are otherwise in an unclear
> state? If such normative references exist, what is the
> strategy for their completion? Are there normative references
> that are downward references, as described in [RFC3967]? If
> so, list these downward references to support the Area
> Director in the Last Call procedure for them [RFC3967].

The document contains a split references section. None of the normative
references are downward. One informative reference is to a draft in progress.

> (1.i) Has the Document Shepherd verified that the document IANA
> consideration section exists and is consistent with the body
> of the document? If the document specifies protocol
> extensions, are reservations requested in appropriate IANA
> registries? Are the IANA registries clearly identified? If
> the document creates a new registry, does it define the
> proposed initial contents of the registry and an allocation
> procedure for future registrations? Does it suggest a
> reasonable name for the new registry? See [RFC5226]. If the
> document describes an Expert Review process has Shepherd
> conferred with the Responsible Area Director so that the IESG
> can appoint the needed Expert during the IESG Evaluation?

The document has a properly labeled IANA considerations section
which requests several actions from IANA, including new Mobile IP
message types, reply codes, and extension codes. These are from
existing number spaces with well defined allocation policies. Three
new number spaces are allocated and the assignment policies are
currently unspecified; I would suggest Expert Review with specification
required.

> (1.j) Has the Document Shepherd verified that sections of the
> document that are written in a formal language, such as XML
> code, BNF rules, MIB definitions, etc., validate correctly in
> an automated checker?

No such formal languages are used in the document.

> (1.k) The IESG approval announcement includes a Document
> Announcement Write-Up. Please provide such a Document
> Announcement Write-Up? Recent examples can be found in the
> "Action" announcements for approved documents. The approval
> announcement contains the following sections:
>
> Technical Summary

This document describes a Home Agent assisted Route Optimization
functionality to IPv4 Network Mobility Protocol. The function is
designed to facilitate optimal routing in cases where all nodes are
connected to a single Home Agent, thus the use case is Route
Optimization within single organization or similar entity. The
functionality adds the possibility to discover eligible peer nodes
based on information received from Home Agent, Network Prefixes they
represent, and how to establish a direct tunnel between such nodes.

> Working Group Summary

The draft has strong consensus within the working group.

> Document Quality

Document quality is good.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

****** SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO: September 7th, 2011 *******

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Eighth Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous=20
Systems: Computing, Networking and Services (MobiQuitous 2011) will=20
provide a forum for practitioners and researchers from diverse=20
backgrounds to interact and exchange experiences about the design and=20
implementation of mobile and ubiquitous systems. Areas addressed by the=20
conference include systems, applications, social networks, middleware,=20
networking, data management and services, all with special focus on=20
mobility and ubiquitous computing.=20

ICST MobiQuitous 2011 is soliciting original and previously unpublished=20
research papers from industry researchers and professionals for the 1st=20
Industry Track session of the conference.=20

Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  - Ubiquitous architectures, systems and applications
  - Wearable computing and personal area networks
  - Enabling wireless technologies (BT, ZigBee, 802.15.x, WiFi, WiMAX)
  - Ad hoc and sensor networks for ubiquitous computing
  - Reconfigurability and personalization
  - Wireless/mobile service management and delivery
  - Security, privacy and trust of mobile and ubiquitous systems
  - Social networks for mobile and ubiquitous computing
  - Community based computing
  - Service and knowledge discovery, matching and composition mechanisms
  - Localization and tracking in ubiquitous environments
  - Context- and location-aware applications
  - Agent technologies in ubiquitous, wearable, and mobile systems
  - Energy-efficient and green ubiquitous systems
  - Toolkits, testbeds, dev. environments, languages for ubiquitous comp.
  - Rapid prototyping of ubiquitous applications
  - Mobile and ubiquitous data management and processing
  - Data replication, migration and dissemination in ubiquitous env.
  - Queries, transactions and workflows in mobile and ubiquitous env.
  - Multimodal sensing and interfaces
  - User generated content
  - Content management and distribution in IoT and ubiquitous systems
  - Vehicle-to-X communication (V2V, V2I, V2B) for ubiquitous computing
  - Mobile P2P networks for ubiquitous computing
  - Ubiquitous system prototypes, measurements, deployment experiences

The Industry Track session is intended to specially highlight system
experiences and proofs-of-concept in the areas above. Like regular=20
papers, the Industry Track papers will undergo a review process by an
international TPC and will appear in the conference proceedings.

However, the selection criteria for Industry Track papers are slightly
different. Particularly, papers should describe applications, prototypes
or experiences of clear industry relevance. Papers with narrow=20
algorithmic focus or only high-level design details are discouraged. A=20
key goal of this session is to present systems-oriented research that
exposes the academic and research communities to real-life issues and=20
problems being faced in industry. Accordingly, papers will be evaluated,=20
less on the novelty of specific algorithmic content, but by the=20
originality and general applicability of insights that can be inferred
from the authors' implementation experience.

PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Accepted industry track papers will appear in the main conference=20
proceedings and will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes of=20
the Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Tele-
communications Engineering (LNICST) series.

Paper submission will be handled electronically (see the details and=20
instructions at http://mobiquitous.org/industry.php). Authors should
prepare an Adobe Acrobat PDF version of their full paper. Papers must
not exceed 12 pages single column (US Letter size, 8.5 x 11 inches)
including text, figures and references. The font size must be at least
10 points.
