MobiHoc 2013 "Workshop on Airborne Networks and Communications"

Airborne networks are mobile ad hoc networks consisting of manned and
unmanned air vehicles as well as ground
vehicles. The ability of air vehicles to communicate voice, video, and data
offers enhanced safety and
efficiency for Next Generation airborne networks. Airborne networks can
benefit many civilian applications
such as air-traffic control, border patrol, and search and rescue missions.
This workshop is an opportunity
for researchers engaged in airborne networking to discuss state-of-the-art,
share their research with their
peers, and develop directions for future research in this emerging field.
The topics of interest include, but
are not limited to the following:

Communication and information foundations and fundamental limits
Models for mobility, connectivity, and coverage
Cyber-Physical System perspective of airborne networks
Airborne/Satellite Communication and networking platforms and strategies
Ad hoc routing protocols
Security protocols (authentication, and integrity verification of
communicating agents)
Swarming, collaboration, and self-organization
Network trials, test-beds, experiments, and measurements
Applications of airborne networking to real world domains such as border
patrol, air-traffic control, search
and rescue missions, and unmanned cargo

CALL FOR PAPERS

ICUFN 2013
The Fifth International Conference on Ubiquitous and Future Networks
July 2 (Tue) ~ July 5 (Fri), 2013, Da Nang, Vietnam
http://www.icufn.org

GENERAL INFORMATION:
During the last decade, we have witnessed fast developments of various
networking
technologies, and many forms of networking are becoming core parts of
our daily lives.
With the proliferation of future wireless technologies and electronic
devices,
there is a fast growing interest in ubiquitous and future networks.
In the days to come, we expect that the ubiquitous communication and
networking
technologies will become ubiquitous along with the emergence of many future
networking technologies. The ubiquitous and future network will offer
multiservice,
multimedia services convergence, mobility, service ubiquity and context
awareness,
fixed-mobile convergence, quality of service, variable connectivity,
spontaneous
networking, autonomic networking and other capabilities as the norm.
Building on the success of the last four years, the Fifth International
Conference on
Ubiquitous and Future Networks (ICUFN 2013) aims at addressing advances
in research
on ubiquitous and future networks, covering topics ranging from
technology issues
to emerging applications and test-bed developments. ICUFN 2013 solicits
original,
unpublished contributions in all aspects of ubiquitous and future
networking.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Elsevier - Computer Communications Journal
Special Issue on Opportunistic Networking
Submission Deadline: February 10, 2013
-----------------------------------------------------------------------=
---------

The widespread availability of mobile portable devices enriched with a =
variety of sensing capabilities, coupled with the impelling need of com=
munication anytime and anywhere, has rapidly raised the interest toward=
s new approaches to communications between users. Opportunistic network=
s are an instance of the delay tolerant paradigm applied to networks ma=
de up of users' portable devices (such as smartphones and tablets). As =
such, they are able to cope with challenged network conditions that are=
often present in real life, such as high node mobility, variable conne=
ctivity, and disconnections, which would impair communications in tradi=
tional Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. In this scenario, user mobility becomes =
one of the main drivers to enable message delivery. In fact, according =
to the store-carry-and-forward paradigm, user devices store messages an=
d carry them around while they move in the network, exchanging them upo=
n encounter with other nodes, and eventually delivering them to their d=
estination or to interested users. This new communication paradigm enab=
les legacy applications in challenged scenarios, as well as it paves th=
e way to innovative solutions. While opportunistic networks initially r=
eceived attention to support communication where an infrastructure is n=
ot available (for disaster recovery or in rural areas), nowadays a numb=
er of applications can be envisaged ranging from content sharing, throu=
gh mobile social networking, to participatory and urban sensing. All th=
ese applications rely on data forwarding amongst devices. As a consequ=
ence, two aspects become relevant, that is, the need for mechanisms gua=
ranteeing trusted and secure communications while preserving users' pri=
vacy (in the absence of infrastructure and sometimes even end-to-end co=
nnectivity), and incentive mechanisms able to boost the participation i=
n the network.

This Special Issue of Computer Communications seeks contributions pushi=
ng the state of the art in Opportunistic Networking. Topics of interest=
include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Mobility measurements and models, mobility trace analysis
- Measurements, models, and analysis for user behaviors on mobile devic=
es =20
- Unicast and multicast routing
- Transport, congestion control, and reliability issues
- Content dissemination, content caching, service composition, opportun=
istic computing
- Trust, security & privacy in opportunistic forwarding, incentive mech=
anisms, reputation systems, and key management
- Application support and middleware for opportunistic networks
- New applications and services relying on opportunistic networking
- Systems and experience for real-world deployments

The recent proliferation of sensor-rich portable devices is enabling novel
communication paradigms for users and contributing to the implementation of
the ubiquitous computing and networking vision. Opportunistic networking
represents a key communication paradigm for this vision. Either as a
standalone communication mode or as a complement to infrastructure-based
communication, opportunistic networking leverages the mobility of end users
to enhance their ability to communicate in the absence of reliable
end-to-end connectivity. Opportunistic networking opens up many
possibilities but also poses countless new challenges. The goal of the AOC
2013 workshop is to serve as a forum for researchers, professionals,
application developers, and other experts from both academia and industry
to exchange new ideas, discuss new solutions, and share their experiences.
As with previous editions, this year's workshop is particularly interested
in novel research directions, such as service composition techniques,
co-existence with infrastructure networks, and insights from game theory,
social networking analysis, and cognitive psychology. The workshop will
solicit original papers addressing theoretical and practical aspects of
autonomic and opportunistic communications as well as papers describing
prototype implementations and deployments.

Topics of interest for AOC 2013 include, but are not limited to:
*Routing, transport, and reliability issues
*Techniques for data dissemination and replication
*Applications and middleware support, mobile social networking applications
*Mobility models and statistical analysis of mobility traces
*Context and social awareness mechanisms and algorithms
*Co-existence of opportunistic networks with infrastructure mobile wireless
networks
*Service composition in autonomic and opportunistic networks
*Cognition-driven information processing and decision making
*Performance modelling, scaling laws, and fundamental limits for autonomic
and opportunistic communications
*Game-theoretic insights to the operation of autonomic and opportunistic
networks
*Participatory and urban sensing in autonomic and opportunistic networks
*Trust, security, and reputation
*Autonomic and opportunistic communication testbeds and prototypes,
measurement data from real experiments
*Socio-economic models for autonomic and opportunistic communications

Instruction for Submission:

Papers should neither have been published elsewhere nor being currently
under review by another conference or journal. Manuscripts are limited to 6
pages, single spacing, double column, and must strictly adhere to the
template format. Guidelines on paper submission and formatting are
available at http://aoc2013.dti.supsi.ch/submission.html.

Accepted papers will appear in the symposium proceedings published by IEEE.
There will be no separate workshop registration, as one single registration
will cover both conference and workshops participation. At least one author
of each accepted paper is required and present his/her work at the workshop=
.

Extended versions of workshop selected papers will be considered for
possible fast track publication on the Computer Communications Journal
(Elsevier).

IEEE WoWMoM 2013 is soliciting original and previously unpublished

research papers with direct industrial relevance, preferably involving

industry researchers and professionals for a dedicated Industry Track.

=20

You can submit 9-page papers to http://edas.info/N13963 before Feb 28th.

=20

http://wowmom2013.tmit.bme.hu/index.php?menu=3Dindustry

=20

Details follow.

=20

** SCOPE

=20

The Industry Track is intended to specially highlight system experiences

and proofs-of-concept in the areas above. Like regular papers,

the Industry Track submissions will undergo a review process by an

international TPC and will appear in the conference proceedings.

=20

However, the selection criteria are slightly different: papers should

describe applications, prototypes or experiments, testbed results, or

other practical experiences of clear industry relevance, whereas papers

with strictly algorithmic focus or only high-level design details are

discouraged.

=20

A key goal of this session is to present systems-oriented research that

exposes the academic and research communities to real-life issues and

problems being faced in industry. Accordingly, papers will be evaluated,

on the originality and general applicability of insights that can be

inferred from the authors' experience.

=20

** TOPICS OF INTEREST

=20

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

=20

- Wireless BAN, PAN, LAN and MAN

=20

** PAPER SUBMISSION

=20

Submission is managed electronically through EDAS.

=20

You can submit papers at http://edas.info/N13963.

=20

All the submission rules and instructions for regular papers apply to

the Industry Track papers, please see the link below for details:

http://wowmom2013.tmit.bme.hu/index.php?menu=3Dsubmission

=20

Submission implies the willingness of at least one author to attend the

conference and present the paper. Accepted papers will be included in

the proceedings of IEEE WoWMoM 2013 and published in the IEEE Digital

Library. WoWMoM organizers reserve the right to exclude a paper from

distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore)

if the paper is not presented at the conference.

=20

Papers should contain original material and not be previously published,

or currently submitted for consideration elsewhere. Accepted papers

will be published by the IEEE in the combined WoWMoM 2013 proceedings,

hence manuscripts must be formatted in accordance with the IEEE Computer

Society author guidelines.

=20

The IEEE LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates, as well

as related information, can be found at the following URL:

http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting.=20

You are requested to strictly comply with the format specified therein.

=20

Specifically, please note the following format requirements:

- The submission must be in PDF format.

- Manuscripts must be limited to 9 pages, single spacing,
double column,

and must strictly adhere to the template format.

- We must be able to print your paper once it is submitted.

Please embed all the fonts used in the PDF.

- The paper must be able to print clearly on standard b/w

Abstract:
This specification defines extensions to Mobile IPv4 protocol for
allowing a mobile node with multiple interfaces to register a care-of
address for each of its network interfaces and to simultaneously
establish multiple Mobile IP tunnels with its home agent. This
essentially allows the mobile node to utilize all the available
network interfaces and build an higher aggregated data pipe with the
home agent for its home address traffic. Furthermore, these
extensions also allow the mobile node and the home agent to negotiate
flow policies for binding individual traffic flows with the
   registered care-of addresses.
