CALL FOR PAPERS

Elsevier - Pervasive and Mobile Computing
Special Issue on
Pervasive Social Computing
http://www.journals.elsevier.com/pervasive-and-mobile-computing/call-for-papers/

Submission Deadline: 30 November 2015

Pervasive Social Computing represents a new paradigm resulting from
the convergence of Pervasive Mobile Computing with Social Networking;
it aims to take advantage of human social relationships to enable the
attainment of users' tasks in different domains. On the one hand, the
impressive diffusion of Online Social Networking platforms is making
OSNs a pervasive tool for maintaining social relationships between
people. On the other hand, the diffusion of mobile personal devices
with rich networking and computing capabilities is fostering novel
patterns of users interactions through social networks, also depending
on the dynamic context and locations of the users. Last but not least,
pervasive mobile technologies enable completely novel types of social
networking applications and services, such as Mobile Social Networks.
The enormous potential of Pervasive Social Computing is leading
scientific communities in different disciplines, from computer science
to social science, communication science and economy, to analyze,
study and provide new theories, models, methods, technological
solutions and case studies. Interestingly, more and more Pervasive
Mobile Computing technologies are designed using inter-disciplinary
approaches, that exploit models of the users personal and social
behavior to design algorithms, protocols, services and applications.

The special issue aims to encourage the multidisciplinary discussion
involving academics, researchers and professionals on theories,
approaches, analysis, design and evaluation of services and networking
solutions for Pervasive Social Computing. Researchers are increasingly
interested in addressing a wide range of Pervasive Social Computing
challenges residing in Social networks and Social Computing systems
including: their architecture, algorithms and protocols for social
networking services, the creation of new analysis models, the
monitoring of emerging trends, studies on trust, privacy and security
issues and their potential applications.

The list of topics includes, but is not limited to:
- Security, privacy and trust in Pervasive Social Computing systems
- Innovative Pervasive Social Computing services and applications
- Architectures, algorithms and protocols for Pervasive Social
  Computing systems
- Mobile networking solutions for Pervasive Social Computing

Scope
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D

Much effort has been invested in the field of mobile communications, aimed
especially at enhancing the Quality of Service (QoS) experienced by
end-users (QoE). The field of centralized or distributed mobile computing
introduces many advantages (such as flexibility and robustness). However,
at the same time, many issues arise when QoS needs to be guaranteed. For
example, user mobility affects channel conditions (Doppler and fading
degradations), bandwidth availability (when users move among different
coverage areas in infrastructure networks), or traffic flowing (with
dynamic congestion levels), with huge fluctuations in communications
quality and relevant QoS parameters (throughput, e2e-delay, jitter,
packet-loss, etc.).

The development of prediction algorithms, regarding different OSI-layers,
is showing relevant results in the last years, especially if unconventional
approaches are involved. This special issue is soliciting original quality
and high level technical papers addressing the main research challenges in
QoE-aware mobile networking, by the introduction of new algorithms based on
emerging unconventional approaches, like swarm intelligence, evolutionary
genetics, neural networks, artificial intelligence, and so forth.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

- Mobility prediction in infrastructure networks
- Patterns evaluation in 3G/4G networks
- Channel quality estimation and prediction in new technologies
- Aerial drone object tracking through predictive estimations
- Predictive congestion and admission control in wireless networks
- Unconventional analysis of distributed mobile networks
- Mobility management and congestion avoidance in vehicular environments
- New tools and prediction techniques for measuring and monitoring mobile
networks
- Performance evaluation of mobile networks
- QoS and QoE
- Predictive routing
- Simulation of mobile network structures
- Traffic analysis in mobile networks
- Modeling of performance metrics

of mobile communications, aimed especially at enhancing the Quality of Serv=

Series on Adhoc and Sensor Networks=20

The IEEE Communications Magazine announces for the 10th Anniversary of =
the Series on Adhoc and Sensor Networks, a Feature Topic on Social and =
Mobile Solutions in Ad Hoc and Sensor Networking.=20

The Series on Adhoc and Sensor Networks of the IEEE Communications Maga=
zine intends to provide the latest developments in this very rich and e=
xciting domain. The Series explores in depth the concept of ad hoc and =
sensor networking, highlighting the recent research achievements in the=
field, and also providing insight into theoretical and practical issue=
s related to the development of these networks from different perspecti=
ves. This series offers a relevant forum for both academic and industri=
al research, covering, at the same time, the theory, the practice and t=
he state of the art of ad hoc and sensor networking.=20

The special focus of this FT aims to explore the ad hoc and sensor netw=
orks research and development related to social and mobile solutions: c=
ommunications, applications, algorithms and systems as well as services=
and computing. Thus, we are interested in articles that involve people=
, networked sensors, mobile phones and/or sensing context, how they int=
eract and how they perform.
Both original research and review papers are welcome. Possible topics o=
f social and mobile solutions in ad hoc and sensor networking include b=
ut are not limited to:

- Architectures and design=20
- Social and Mobile Systems
- Communication issues=20
- Pervasive computing=20
- Human Mobility =20
- Analysis, simulation, and measurement=20
- Real Experiments Campaign
- Social and Mobile Applications
- Mobile Phone Sensing=20
- Social and economic aspects=20

This list is not exhaustive; submissions related to new and interesting=
ideas relating broadly to Social and Mobile Solutions in Ad Hoc and Se=
nsor Networking are encouraged.

IEEE Communications Magazine is read by tens of thousands of Communicat=
ions Society members. The papers will also be available on the internet=
through Communications Magazine Interactive, the WWW edition of the ma=
gazine. Details about IEEE Communications Magazine can be found at http=
://www.comsoc.org/ci/.

te at: http://commag-ieee.manuscriptcentral.com/. You will need to regi=
ster and then proceed to the author center. On the manuscript details p=
age, please select Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks Series from the drop down=
 menu.=20

Articles should be tutorial in nature, with the intended audience being=
all members of the communications technology community. They should be=
written in a style comprehensible to readers outside the specialty of =
the article. Mathematical equations should not be used (in justified ca=
ses up to three simple equations are allowed). Articles should not exce=
ed 4500 words. Figures and tables should be limited to a combined total=
of six. The number of archivable references is recommended to not exce=
ed 15. In some rare cases, more mathematical equations, figures, and ta=
bles may be allowed if well-justified. In general, however, mathematics=
should be avoided; instead, references to papers containing the releva=
nt mathematics should be provided. Complete guidelines for preparation =
of the manuscript are posted at http://www.comsoc.org/commag/paper-subm=
ission-guidelines. Please submit a pdf (preferred) or MS WORD formatted=
 paper via Manuscript Central (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/commag-i=
eee). Register or log in, and go to Author Center. Follow the instructi=
ons there.=20
