Hi,

MOPS is not the only IETF WG that is very very quiet these days.

We thought we might try mixing things up a bit, and offer a =E2=80=9CChai=
rs=20
drop-in hour=E2=80=9D next week. This is not an interim or a formal mee=
ting=20
of any kind. It=E2=80=99s a time and a place that the chairs plan to be=20
available, if anyone would like to come by and talk about media=20
operations topics, brainstorm things for the meeting, etc.

	Thursday, February 25, 2021
	5pm UTC - 6pm UTC. (12pm-1pm EST, 9am-10am PST, 6pm-7pm CET)

Depending on whether it seems useful, we can do something similar (or=20
different!) again at a later time/different time slot, etc.

Would love it if people came by even to say =E2=80=9Chi!=E2=80=9D :^)

Leslie.

Hi,

In advance of our discussion at the 110 MOPS meeting, let me summarize=20
where I think we are with milestones=E2=80=A6

Where this:
> Mar 2021 Initial WG document on edge network operational=20
> considerations for streaming media
>

is expected to be the adoption of the AR document=20
(draft-krishna-mops-ar-use-case), I think we can reasonable propose to=20
update our milestones like this:

DONE: Feb 2020 Initial draft operational considerations for low latency=20
streaming video applications
DONE: Jul 2020 Revised draft operational considerations for low latency=20
streaming video applications
Mar 2021 Initial WG document on edge network operational considerations=20
for streaming media
Mar 2021 Draft documenting Streaming Video Alliance (SVA) reliance on=20
IETF protocols
Jun 2021 Last-call document on operational considerations for low=20
latency streaming video applications
Jul 2021 Draft documenting Society of Motion Picture and Television=20
Engineers (SMPTE) protocol reliance on IETF protocols
Nov 2021 IESG to decide whether continue, re-charter or close MOPS WG
Jul 2022 Last-call document on Streaming Video Alliance (SVA) reliance=20
on IETF protocols (including explicit outreach to SVA)
Jul 2022 Last-call document on Society of Motion Picture and Television=20
Engineers (SMPTE) protocol reliance on IETF protocols (including=20
explicit outreach to SMPTE)

Note that there are 2 milestones after the IESG planned review, but it=20
seemed useful to have them on a timeline, even if they have to be moved=20
elsewhere if the IESG decides to close this WG.

Leslie.

I believe Glenn Deen is going to come back with a proposal for who might=20
author the SVA document.
I believe Shuai Zhao expressed support for the edge network operational=20
considerations for streaming media document at the MOPS WG meeting =E2=80=
=94=20
not sure he volunteered? :^)

For the SMPTE document =E2=80=94 Kyle & I suggest pushing that off to sta=
rt in=20
May of next year, and we can revisit then whether we drop it altogether.=20
It still seems like an important document to have, but because 2020 is=20
2020, we aren=E2=80=99t getting the right participation to get it done.
