The following errata report has been submitted for RFC6824,
"TCP Extensions for Multipath Operation with Multiple Addresses".

--------------------------------------
You may review the report below and at:
http://www.rfc-editor.org/errata_search.php?rfc=6824&eid=3578

--------------------------------------
Type: Technical
Reported by: Kasper Dupont <rfc@wgdfq.01.apr.2013.kasperd.net>

Section: 3.1

Original Text
-------------
Note that new subflows MUST NOT be established (using
the process documented in Section 3.2) until a Digital Signature
Standard (DSS) option has been successfully received across the path
   (as documented in Section 3.3).

Corrected Text
--------------
Note that new subflows MUST NOT be established (using
the process documented in Section 3.2) until a Data Sequence
Signal (DSS) option has been successfully received across the path
   (as documented in Section 3.3).

Notes
-----
In this document DSS is indicated as short for both "Digital Signature Standard" and "Data Sequence Signal". I guess the reference to "Digital Signature Standard" was a mistake.

Instructions:
-------------
This errata is currently posted as "Reported". If necessary, please
use "Reply All" to discuss whether it should be verified or
rejected. When a decision is reached, the verifying party (IESG)
can log in to change the status and edit the report, if necessary.

Hello,
I believe that this errta is correct. But, the type should be editorial
since this is nothing more than an editorial mistake.
I think we'll need confirmation from authors to proceed this.

Thanks,

Folks,=0A=
=0A=
As a follow up to my presentation in Orlando, our congestion control algori=
thm (OLIA: =93Opportunistic Linked Increases Algorithm=94) is now part of t=
he Louvain MPTCP Linux. =0A=
  =0A=
If you want to use the OLIA, that guarantees optimal resource usage in the =
network and solves problem identified with the "Linked-Increases Algorithm"=
, you have to: =0A=
=0A=
1. Configure it via the kernel-option: =93Networking support->Networking op=
tions->TCP: advanced congestion control=94 and enable =93MPTCP Opportunisti=
c linked increase=94.=0A=
=0A=
2. Then, after the machine booted, you choose olia-congestion control with:=
 sysctl -w net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control=3Dolia.=0A=
=0A=
To get more information about OLIA, and also the performance issues with LI=
A, please check our paper at Conext 2012, or our drafts:=0A=

Hello,

As you know, the design of Multipath TCP has been heavily influenced by
various types of middleboxes that process/modify/... various fields of
the IP/TCP packets. Multipath TCP is in theory capable of handling these
middleboxes and either go through or at worst fallback to regular TCP.

In order to check this fallback mechanism, we ask your help to perform
test behing as many real middleboxes as possible. To ease the testing,
we have placed a modified kernel inside a virtualbox image, added
several measurement scripts to automate the test and collect packet
traces. The tests run on Linux and MacOS. They do not currently work on
Windows. You can download the virtualbox image from :

http://multipath-tcp.org/pmwiki.php?n=Users.AboutMeasures

The script needs about 15 minutes to complete and you will have access
to a trace of all the packets sent and received by your virtualbox and
our server if you'd like to check the interference caused by your
middleboxes. We'd appreciate tests in networks that are more likely to
include middlboxes such as entreprise networks, WiFi hotspots or
cellular networks.

From a technical viewpoint, the tests use various applications
including traceroute, ftp (to trigger NAT ALG), http, https, scp. We use
multipath subflows (1 and 4) and a modified Multipath TCP kernel that
provides more debugging and also three different schedulers. The first
scheduler is the standard MPTCP scheduler that sends packets over the
best subflows, a second scheduler that sends packets in strict round
robin and a scheduler that copies each packet over all subflows to
detect the impact of retransmissions.

Since Multipath TCP has never been deployed/tested on a large scale,
these tests might trigger some alarms from firewalls/IPS/DPI boxes that
could detect unknown behaviour. If this happens, please send a report to
Fabien Duchene indicating the type of alarm.

All the data collected will be analysed and if the wg is interested, we
could present the results of the analysis at the next IETF.

Thanks for your help,

Olivier Bonaventure

Hi all,

A new update is now available at [1]. This patch fixes a number of known
stability issues (see changelog [2]). The readme [3] has also been
updated. As with v0.2, this release code is considered to be of alpha
quality.

Cheers,
Nigel, Lawrence and Grenville

Hello,

I installed multipath tcp in two different hosts.

In host 1, I have two real NICs eth0 and eth1.

In host 2, same like setup eth0 and eth1.

How can I send a tcp stream from ost 1 via eth0 and eth1 and properly
receive it in eth0 and eth1 of host 2.

I checked any examples in manuals, but didn't find.
Any help on this.

Thanks,
SJK

did you install the Linux Kernel implementation of MPTCP?

(you should move the discussion then to the mptcp-dev list, which is there to
handle this kind of questions -

You should check if you have correctly configured the routing tables:

Biggest Fake Conference in Computer Science

We are researchers from different parts of the world and conducted a study on
the world’s biggest bogus computer science conference WORLDCOMP
( http://sites.google.com/site/worlddump1 ) organized by Prof. Hamid Arabnia
from University of Georgia, USA.

We submitted a fake paper to WORLDCOMP 2011 and again (the same paper
with a modified title) to WORLDCOMP 2012. This paper had numerous
fundamental mistakes. Sample statements from that paper include:

(1). Binary logic is fuzzy logic and vice versa
(2). Pascal developed fuzzy logic
(3). Object oriented languages do not exhibit any polymorphism or inheritance
(4). TCP and IP are synonyms and are part of OSI model
(5). Distributed systems deal with only one computer
(6). Laptop is an example for a super computer
(7). Operating system is an example for computer hardware

Also, our paper did not express any conceptual meaning. However, it
was accepted both the times without any modifications (and without
any reviews) and we were invited to submit the final paper and a
payment of $500+ fee to present the paper. We decided to use the
fee for better purposes than making Prof. Hamid Arabnia (Chairman
of WORLDCOMP) rich. After that, we received few reminders from
WORLDCOMP to pay the fee but we never responded.

We MUST say that you should look at the above website if you have any thoughts
to submit a paper to WORLDCOMP. DBLP and other indexing agencies have stopped
indexing WORLDCOMP’s proceedings since 2011 due to its fakeness. See
http://www.informatik.uni-trier.de/~ley/db/conf/icai/index.html for of one of the
conferences of WORLDCOMP and notice that there is no listing after 2010. See Section 2 of
http://sites.google.com/site/dumpconf for comments from well-known researchers
about WORLDCOMP.

The status of your WORLDCOMP papers can be changed from scientific
to other (i.e., junk or non-technical) at any time. Better not to have a paper than
having it in WORLDCOMP and spoil the resume and peace of mind forever!

Our study revealed that WORLDCOMP is a money making business,
using University of Georgia mask, for Prof. Hamid Arabnia. He is throwing
out a small chunk of that money (around 20 dollars per paper published
in WORLDCOMP’s proceedings) to his puppet (Mr. Ashu Solo or A.M.G. Solo)
who publicizes WORLDCOMP and also defends it at various forums, using
fake/anonymous names. The puppet uses fake names and defames other conferences
to divert traffic to WORLDCOMP. He also makes anonymous phone calls and tries to
threaten the critiques of WORLDCOMP (See Item 7 of Section 5 of above website).
That is, the puppet does all his best to get a maximum number of papers published
at WORLDCOMP to get more money into his (and Prof. Hamid Arabnia’s) pockets.

Monte Carlo Resort (the venue of WORLDCOMP for more than 10 years, until 2012) has
refused to provide the venue for WORLDCOMP’13 because of the fears of their image
being tarnished due to WORLDCOMP’s fraudulent activities. That is why WORLDCOMP’13
is taking place at a different resort. WORLDCOMP will not be held after 2013.

The draft paper submission deadline is over but still there are no committee
members, no reviewers, and there is no conference Chairman. The only contact
details available on WORLDCOMP’s website is just an email address!

Let us make a direct request to Prof. Hamid arabnia: publish all reviews for
all the papers (after blocking identifiable details) since 2000 conference. Reveal
the names and affiliations of all the reviewers (for each year) and how many
papers each reviewer had reviewed on average. We also request him to look at
the Open Challenge (Section 6) at https://sites.google.com/site/moneycomp1

Sorry for posting to multiple lists. Spreading the word is the only way to stop
this bogus conference. Please forward this message to other mailing lists and people.

We are shocked with Prof. Hamid Arabnia and his puppet’s activities

keyword worldcomp fake for additional links.

Hi All,

We have released a tech report "Design Overview of Multipath TCP version
0.3 for FreeBSD-10" [1]. Within is a broad overview of the architecture
and design decisions behind our implementation (such as changes to
protocol control blocks, socket buffers, segment reassembly...).

cheers,
nigel

Hi all,

the Simula Research Laboratory in Fornebu, Norway (https://simula.no/) is
currently building up a large-scale Internet testbed for multi-homed
systems.
Therefore, this could be of interest for all researchers doing work on
congestion control for multi-homed systems, i.e. particularly also for
multi-
path transport protocols like MPTCP and CMT-SCTP.

Our website http://www.nntb.no/ now contains some up-to-date information on
the NorNet project. The NorNet project is funded by the Research Council of
Norway (Forskningsr=E5det) as part of the INFRASTRUKTUR programme and will =
be
an
open platform for all researchers on multi-homed systems, probably in a
similar way as PlanetLab. Also, within the next few months -- possibly in
the
late summer/early autumn -- we will provide a workshop for interested
researchers at the Simula Research Laboratory in Fornebu. More details will
follow soon on our website.
