A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Constrained RESTful Environments WG of the IETF.

Title : Combining EDHOC and OSCORE
        Authors : Francesca Palombini
                          Marco Tiloca
                          Rikard Hoeglund
                          Stefan Hristozov
                          Goeran Selander
	Filename : draft-ietf-core-oscore-edhoc-00.txt
	Pages : 12
	Date : 2021-04-01

Abstract:
This document defines an optimization approach for combining the
lightweight authenticated key exchange protocol EDHOC run over CoAP
with the first subsequent OSCORE transaction. This combination
reduces the number of round trips required to set up an OSCORE
Security Context and to complete an OSCORE transaction using that
   Security Context.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Constrained RESTful Environments WG of the IETF.

Title : Observe Notifications as CoAP Multicast Responses
        Authors : Marco Tiloca
                          Rikard Hoeglund

	Pages : 68
	Date : 2021-04-01

Abstract:
The Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) allows clients to
"observe" resources at a server, and receive notifications as unicast
responses upon changes of the resource state. In some use cases,
such as based on publish-subscribe, it would be convenient for the
server to send a single notification addressed to all the clients
observing a same target resource. This document updates RFC7252 and
RFC7641, and defines how a server sends observe notifications as
response messages over multicast, synchronizing all the observers of
a same resource on a same shared Token value. Besides, this document
defines how Group OSCORE can be used to protect multicast
notifications end-to-end between the server and the observer clients.

This draft is a work item of the Using TLS in Applications WG of the IETF.

Title : Update to Verifying TLS Server Identities with X.509 Certificates
        Author : Rich Salz

	Pages : 5
	Date : 2021-04-01

Abstract:
In the decade since [RFC6125] was published, the
subjectAlternativeName extension (SAN), as defined in [RFC5280] has
become ubiquitous. This document updates [RFC6125] to specify that
the fall-back techniques of using the commonName attribute to
identify the service must not be used. This document also places
some limitations on the use of wildcards in SAN fields.

The original context of [RFC6125] using X.509 certificates for server
identity with Transport Layer Security (TLS), is not changed.

	Date : 2021-04-07

Abstract:
Looking globally, IPv6 is growing faster than IPv4 and this means
that the collective wisdom of the networking industry has selected
IPv6 for the future. This document provides an overview of IPv6
transition deployment status and a view on how the transition to IPv6
is progressing among network operators and enterprises that are
introducing IPv6 or have already adopted an IPv6-only solution. It
also aims to analyze the transition challenges and therefore
encourage actions and more investigations on some areas that are
still under discussion. The overall IPv6 incentives are also
   examined.

Abstract:
This document provides test vectors to validate implementations of
the two mandatory authentication algorithms specified for the TCP
Authentication Option over both IPv4 and IPv6. This includes
validation of the key derivation function (KDF) based on a set of
test connection parameters as well as validation of the message
authentication code (MAC). Vectors are provided for both currently
required pairs of KDF and MAC algorithms: one based on SHA-1 and the
other on AES-128. The vectors also validate both whole TCP segments
as well as segments whose options are excluded for NAT traversal.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the DNS PRIVate Exchange WG of the IETF.

Title : Recursive to Authoritative DNS with Unauthenticated Encryption
        Authors : Paul Hoffman
                          Peter van Dijk
	Filename : draft-ietf-dprive-unauth-to-authoritative-00.txt
	Pages : 11
	Date : 2021-04-12

Abstract:
This document describes a use case and a method for a DNS recursive
resolver to use unauthenticated encryption when communicating with
authoritative servers. The motivating use case for this method is
that more encryption on the Internet is better, and some resolver
operators believe that unauthenticated encryption is better than no
encryption at all. The method described here is optional for both
the recursive resolver and the authoritative server. This method
supports unauthenticated encryption using the same mechanism for
discovery of encryption support for the server as
   [I-D.rescorla-dprive-adox-latest].

NOTE: The file name for this draft, draft-ietf-dprive-opportunistic-
adotq, is now incorrect. This draft only covers unauthenticated
   encryption, not opportunistic encryption.

Abstract:
   <FAb>

This memo discusses setting up special-purpose network connections
using existing IETF technologies. These connections are called IETF
network slices for the purposes of this memo. The memo discusses the
general framework for this setup, the necessary system components and
interfaces, and how abstract requests can be mapped to more specific
technologies. The memo also discusses related considerations with
   monitoring and security.

This memo is intended for discussing interfaces and technologies. It
is not intended to be a new set of concrete interfaces or
technologies. Rather, it should be seen as an explanation of how
some existing, concrete IETF VPN and traffic-engineering technologies
can be used to create IETF network slices. Note that there are a
number of these technologies, and new technologies or capabilities
keep being added. This memo is also not intended presume any
   particular technology choice.

   <DAb>

This document provides a definition of the term "IETF Network Slice"
for use within the IETF and specifically as a reference for other
IETF documents that describe or use aspects of network slices.

The document also describes the characteristics of an IETF network
slice, related terms and their meanings, and explains how IETF
network slices can be used in combination with end-to-end network
   slices or independent of them.

Abstract:
Several IPv6 transition technologies have been developed to provide
customers with IPv4-as-a-Service (IPv4aaS) for ISPs with an IPv6-only
access and/or core network. All these technologies have their
advantages and disadvantages, and depending on existing topology,
skills, strategy and other preferences, one of these technologies may
be the most appropriate solution for a network operator.

This document examines the five most prominent IPv4aaS technologies
considering a number of different aspects to provide network
operators with an easy to use reference to assist in selecting the
technology that best suits their needs.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Reliable and Available Wireless WG of the IETF.

Title : Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) features for RAW
        Authors : Fabrice Theoleyre
                          Georgios Z. Papadopoulos
                          Greg Mirsky
	Filename : draft-ietf-raw-oam-support-00.txt
	Pages : 13
	Date : 2021-04-19

Abstract:
Some critical applications may use a wireless infrastructure.
However, wireless networks exhibit a bandwidth of several orders of
magnitude lower than wired networks. Besides, wireless transmissions
are lossy by nature; the probability that a packet cannot be decoded
correctly by the receiver may be quite high. In these conditions,
guaranteeing the network infrastructure works properly is
particularly challenging, since we need to address some issues
specific to wireless networks. This document lists the requirements
of the Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) features
recommended to construct a predictable communication infrastructure
on top of a collection of wireless segments. This document describes
the benefits, problems, and trade-offs for using OAM in wireless
networks to achieve Service Level Objectives (SLO).

This draft is a work item of the SIDR Operations WG of the IETF.

Title : Problem Statement and Considerations for ROA containing Multiple Prefixes
        Authors : Zhiwei Yan
                          Randy Bush

	Date : 2021-04-24

Abstract:
The address space holder needs to issue an ROA object when it
authorizes one or more ASes to originate routes to multiple prefixes.
During the process of ROA issuance, the address space holder needs to
specify an origin AS for a list of IP prefixes. Besides, the address
space holder has a free choice to put multiple prefixes into a single
ROA or issue separate ROAs for each prefix based on the current
specification. This memo analyzes and presents some operational
problems which may be caused by the ROAs containing multiple IP
prefixes. Some suggestions and considerations also have been
   proposed.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Domain Name System Operations WG of the IETF.

        Title : DNS Error Reporting
        Authors : Roy Arends
                          Matt Larson
	Filename : draft-ietf-dnsop-dns-error-reporting-00.txt
	Pages : 12
	Date : 2021-04-27

Abstract:
DNS Error Reporting is a lightweight error reporting mechanism that
provides the operator of an authoritative server with reports on DNS
resource records that fail to resolve or validate, that a Domain
Owner or DNS Hosting organization can use to improve domain hosting.
The reports are based on Extended DNS Errors [RFC8914].

When a domain name fails to resolve or validate due to a
misconfiguration or an attack, the operator of the authoritative
server may be unaware of this. To mitigate this lack of feedback,
this document describes a method for a validating recursive resolver
to automatically signal an error to an agent specified by the
authoritative server. DNS Error Reporting uses the DNS to report
   errors.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Deterministic Networking WG of the IETF.

Title : Framework of Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) for Deterministic Networking (DetNet)
        Authors : Greg Mirsky
                          Fabrice Theoleyre
                          Georgios Z. Papadopoulos

	Pages : 13
	Date : 2021-04-25

Abstract:
Deterministic Networking (DetNet), as defined in RFC 8655, is aimed
to provide a bounded end-to-end latency on top of the network
infrastructure, comprising both Layer 2 bridged and Layer 3 routed
segments. This document's primary purpose is to detail the specific
requirements of the Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM)
recommended to maintain a deterministic network. With the
implementation of the OAM framework in DetNet, an operator will have
a real-time view of the network infrastructure regarding the
network's ability to respect the Service Level Objective, such as
packet delay, delay variation, and packet loss ratio, assigned to
   each data flow.

Abstract:
This document specifies a CBOR encoding of X.509 certificates. The
resulting certificates are called C509 Certificates. The CBOR
encoding supports a large subset of RFC 5280 and significantly
reduces the size of certificates compatible with e.g. RFC 7925, IEEE
802.1AR (DevID), CNSA, and CA/Browser Forum Baseline Requirements.
When used to re-encode DER encoded X.509 certificates, the CBOR
encoding can in many cases reduce the size of RFC 7925 profiled
certificates with over 50%. The CBOR encoded structure can
alternatively be signed directly ("natively signed"), which does not
require re-encoding for the signature to be verified. The document
also specifies COSE headers as well as a TLS certificate type for
   C509 certificates.

NOTE: "C509" is a placeholder, name to be decided by the COSE WG.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Autonomic Networking Integrated Model and Approach WG of the IETF.

Title : Delegated Authority for Bootstrap Voucher Artifacts
        Authors : Michael Richardson
                          Wei Pan
	Filename : draft-ietf-anima-voucher-delegation-00.txt
	Pages : 15
	Date : 2021-04-28

Abstract:
This document describes an extension of the RFC8366 Voucher Artifact
in order to support delegation of signing authority. The initial
voucher pins a public identity, and that public indentity can then
issue additional vouchers. This chain of authorization can support
permission-less resale of devices, as well as guarding against
business failure of the BRSKI [I-D.ietf-anima-bootstrapping-keyinfra]
   Manufacturer Authorized Signing Authority (MASA).

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the IP Security Maintenance and Extensions WG of the IETF.

Title : TCP Encapsulation of IKE and IPsec Packets
        Authors : Valery Smyslov
                          Tommy Pauly
	Filename : draft-ietf-ipsecme-rfc8229bis-00.txt
	Pages : 30
	Date : 2021-04-28

Abstract:
This document describes a method to transport Internet Key Exchange
Protocol (IKE) and IPsec packets over a TCP connection for traversing
network middleboxes that may block IKE negotiation over UDP. This
method, referred to as "TCP encapsulation", involves sending both IKE
packets for Security Association establishment and Encapsulating
Security Payload (ESP) packets over a TCP connection. This method is
intended to be used as a fallback option when IKE cannot be
   negotiated over UDP.

TCP encapsulation for IKE and IPsec was defined in [RFC8229]. This
document updates specification for TCP encapsulation by including
additional calarifications obtained during implementation and
deployment of this method. This documents makes RFC8229 obsolete.
