Hi folks,

  Happy New Year!

We currently work on ad hoc trust establishment between mobiles using=20
social data [1]. To identify the technical meaning behind social trust,=20
we would like to invite you to participate in a survey. This survey is=20
implemented as Android App and will ask you to rate selected contacts=20
accordingly to trust and closeness. Results will be sent via email to us=20
after explicit confirmation. Any data that is exchanged between your=20
mobile and us will be displayed before using your standard email client.

Further details as well as source code and binary files are available
at:

  * http://skims.realmv6.org/evaluator.php

Please note that any data that is assembled by our app can be gathered=20
by any other application on your Android mobile. During installation you=20
will be asked to permit the app access to call and message logs. The app=20
does not need any Internet access.

Requirements to participate: Android mobile phone, 5 minutes of time:

  * https://skims.realmv6.org/evaluator.php#download

Thank you for your time and consideration!
  Sebastian and Matthias

Hi,

I significantly revised my slides for my course on P2P.
The most notable addition is a new part on privacy. For this reason my
course is now entitled
"Peer-to-Peer Applications : From BitTorrent to Privacy"

The slides are still under a Creative Commons License BY-NC-SA, which
means you can reuse anything as long as you give credit and don't make
money out of it.

You can get the latest version of the slides at this link:
http://cel.archives-ouvertes.fr/cel-00544132/en/

Comments are welcome.

Regards,
Arnaud.

The Tenth Annual IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing =
and
Communications (IEEE PerCom 2012 - www.percom.org) is pleased to provide
(partial) travel grants for students to attend the conference and =
co-located
events (Workshops, Ph.D. Forum, Demo session) to be held in Lugano, =
Switzerland
on March 19-23, 2012. Funds for this travel support have been provided =
to
PerCom by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) - www.nsf.gov.

This funding is available only for full time students attending US =
colleges and
universities (not necessarily US citizens or permanent residents). =
Minority and
women students from diverse institutions are particularly encouraged to =
apply.
Although student authors will be given priority for travel awards, =
however,
this is not a requirement. Post-doctoral students may also be considered =
for
support on a case-by-case basis. To be eligible, US based students =
(henceforth
referred to as "you") must apply via EDAS no later than January 30, =
2012. To
apply for this travel support, please do the following:

1. Obtain a letter from your advisor/professor confirming that:

a. You are currently a graduate (research) student in good standing,
working in areas related to pervasive computing.
b. You will be attending the entire PerCom conference (workshops, if
   appropriate).
c. The remainder of your travel support will be covered (indicate how).

2. Write a personal statement describing your research interests and =
how you
wish to benefit from attending PerCom 2012, student status, and location =
you
will be traveling from.

3. Upload the above documents, along with your two-page CV, on EDAS
(http://edas.info) as part of the PerCom 2012 (U.S. NSF supported travel =
grant
for students).

Please note that the PerCom conference may not be able to reimburse you =
for all
of your travel expenses due to limited budget. Expenses that are =
eligible for
reimbursement include advance student registration, hotel, and travel =
(air,
car, or train). Expenses that are not eligible for reimbursement include
regular and/or on-site registration, meals, and local transportation =
(taxis,
shuttles, parking, etc.). Student travel grants are available in the =
form of
reimbursements that are sent only after the completion of the conference =
and
receipt of all required documentation and receipts. The reimbursement =
amount
will be based on the number of awards and distance traveled, and will be =
capped
at $1,200 per student. For any questions, please contact the IEEE PerCom =
2012
Travel Award Chair, Sajal K. Das, at das@uta.edu.

Important Dates:

* January 30, 2012: Complete Application deadline (via EDAS)
*   February 10, 2012:  Award Decisions extended
*   March 19-23, 2012:  PerCom Conference/Workshops

        Call For Papers=20
 Social Network Systems 2012=20
In conjunction with EuroSys 2012=20
 Bern Switzerland, 10 April 2012

http://www.cambridgeplus.net/SNS12=20

The 5th Workshop on Social Network Systems (SNS 2012) will gather
researchers to discuss novel ideas about computer systems and social
networks. Online social networks are among the most popular sites on
the Web and continue to grow rapidly. Online social networks provide
mechanisms for establishing online identities and creating
relationships. The resulting social graph provides a network for
maintaining social relationships and for locating content, with the
potential of changing computer systems and applications, for example,
by providing new means to publish and find content as well as new ways
to reason about trust. The workshop complements the topics of the main
EuroSys conference, since the research issues with online social
networks span the topics of distributed computing, databases, and
storage systems as well as security and privacy. This workshop will
focus on the systems issues of online social networks. Broadly, a
systems issue of social networks comprises three main areas:

1. Infrastructure support for social networks (including distributed
systems, databases, and storage systems).
2. Ways of leveraging social networks in systems design.
3. Measurement and analysis of existing deployed social networks.

Topics for the workshop include, but are not limited to:

=95 Management and querying of large social graphs.
=95 Graph query engines and query optimization for online processing.
=95 Support for consistency among concurrent readers and writers to a =

distributed social graph.
=95 Partitioning large social graphs.
=95 Data storage and organization.
=95 Benchmarking, modeling, and workload characterization.
=95 Crawlers and other mechanisms for observing social network =
structure.
=95 Experiences with deployed systems.
=95 Leveraging social network properties in systems design.
=95 Issues of privacy and security.
=95 Tools for designing and deploying social networks.
=95 Application programming interfaces for social networks.
=95 System support for social analytics and network dynamics.
=95 Methods for integrating multiple networks.
=95 Performance measurement and analysis of online social networks =
systems.

Proceedings will be published in the ACM digital library.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Submissions may not exceed 6 pages double column, including everything
(i.e., figures, tables, references, appendices, etc.), and should use
a 10pt font (so specify \documentclass[10pt,twocolumn]{sigplanconf}).
Papers must be formatted according to the ACM SIGPLAN style, for which
templates are available for both LaTeX and Word (
http://eurosys2012.unibe.ch/submissions ). Please number pages. This
workshop is sponsored by ACM, ACM SigOps, and EuroSys.
