Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is proposed as an architecture
for the future Internet. The basic idea is to make units of
information accessible to the networking protocols and turn them into
the unit of networking. Main advantages are conjectured to come from
a much better support for mobility, data security, as well as caching
and replication. ICN has by now been investigated in a number of
projects.

This special issue aims to collect new, innovative material on the
theory, the design, and the practical applicability of ICN. In
particular, material that advances the level of maturity, scalability
and real-life dependability of ICN are welcome.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Analytic models for the behavior of information-centric networking,
  especially for scalability properties
- Models for workloads (both amount of traffic as well as kinds and
size of objects along with request patterns)
- Capacity analysis of ICN
- Caching in ICN, in particular, cache placement and cache management
(e.g., replacement algorithms) along with resource management for
  caches, links, and routers
- Coexistence of ICN protocol stacks with legacy stacks (e.g., IP) as
well as coexistence of multiple ICNs with each other on the same
  network fabric
- Suitability of ICN for all kinds of workloads, in particular,
  streaming and interactive multimedia workloads
- Security in ICN
- Mobility support by ICN
- Energy efficiency of ICN
- Active objects in ICN, adding functionality and execution semantics
  to information objects
- Consistency and coherence models for replicated, static or active
information objects, along with revision handling and updating
  protocols
- Structuring applications on top of ICN (both legacy and possible new
applications) as well as suitable application programming interfaces
(complementing or replacing a "socket"-style interface standard)
- Interoperability between different ICN solutions
- Practical experience, test-beds, open-source software

Call for Papers

Conference site: Grand Wailea Hotel, Maui, Hawaii
Dates: January 7th -10th , 2013

1) Minitrack Title : Secure Cloud Computing=20
Summary:
Cloud Computing offers SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS as cost effective ways of =
doing computation. Initiatives by Governments as well as large and small =
businesses are motivating the migration of localized data centers, and =
IT to Internet Cloud Computing facilities. This rapid deployment of =
Cloud Computing comes with a cost that can leave users open to =
vulnerabilities such as: Disruptions that may shutdown 24x7 computation =
availability of essential services since the concentration of government =
and or multiple businesses resources at a single site is a convenient =
target for effective cyber-attacks; Possible theft of Cloud resident =
software Intellectual Property and confidential Personal Information; =
and the unwarranted invasions of user data privacy because users and =
their data may reside in conflicting legal jurisdictions. Thus, building =
on the saliant security problem of Multi-tenancy we anticipate design =
science contributions with deep technical focus as well as broad =
management or legal orientation. The security challenges Cloud Computing =
is facing are enormus. In particular, the proposed minitrack attempts to =
bring together computer science and industrial researchers, as well as =
software architects and implementers that are currently working in this =
area. Consequently, with the above focus in mind, we anticipate =
submissions not limited to but in the scope of the following topics:

  - Security of Public versus Private Cloud services
  - Secure, virtual desktop deployment
  - Preventing Virtual-Machine co-residency attacks
  - Designing a secure Hyper-Visor
  - Preventing Intellectual Property and Personal Information theft
  - Monitoring, auditing Cloud Services
  - Cloud Computing Digital forensics
  - Guaranteeing =93Five 9=92s=94 availability
  - Methods to secure The Cloud against DDoS attacks
  - Vaccinating PaaS and IaaS Clouds against software viruses
  - Secure Cloud deployment of virtually accessible, confidential =
databases
  - Cloud based identity management
  - Data privacy and availability in Peer-to-Peer Clouds=20
  - Customer migration from one Cloud provider to another
  - Guaranteeing customer data storage remains in customer =
consistent legal jurisdictions
  - Securing backup, archival and retrieval of customer data against =
virtual as well as physical attacks.
  - Secure cloud interoperability and Service Level Agreements
  - Rights and Policy Management in Cloud Computing and Services
  - Governance, Risk and Compliance in Cloud Computing and Services
  - Security in the Social Cloud of Things
  - Ethical, social and legal issues in Cloud Computing

Important 2012 Author Deadlines:

Before June 15	Authors can email abstracts to minitrack-chairs for =
guidance and indication.

June 15 Submit full manuscripts. The review is double-blind, and=20
therefor, this initial submission must be without author names.=20

August 15 Notification of Acceptance by Review System to authors.

Sept 15 Final paper submission.

Oct 1 Early Registration fee deadline. At least one author of each=20
paper should register by this date in order secure publication=20
in the Proceedings.

While not mandatory, authors are encouraged to mail abstracts to the =
minitrack-chairs before June 15 for guidance if there is doubt to =
whether or not the topics that are covered in the paper are appropriate =
for the mini-track.

Accepted papers may be theoretical, conceptual, tutorial or descriptive =
in nature. Those selected for presentation will be included in the =
Conference Proceeding published by the IEEE Computer Society.

Scope:

As emerging technologies=2C Clouds and
Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) attract attention worldwide=2C rangin=
g from
casual Internet users to IT giants (e.g. Microsoft and Google). At the same
time=2C the innovations of Clouds and SOAs also offer many interesting aven=

research for scientific communities. Recent advances in Cloud and SOAs=2C
including computational power=2C storage=2C and networking=2C and infrastru=
cture innovations=2C
are providing exciting opportunities to make significant progress in
understanding and solving complex real-world challenges. Such challenges
typically require a system-level approach that models a complex system at
different levels of abstraction=2C helps to develop sound architectures for
addressing separate system requirements and concerns=2C and integrates dive=
rse
sources of knowledge on the system's components and their interactions.

There are strong needs for improving
dependability of service-oriented computing to make service-oriented system=
s
more reliable=2C secure and robust for service provision and delivery. Foll=
owing
the success of the first workshop held in 10th IEEE CIT last year=2C the th=

Introduction=20

Mobile and wireless networks are
regarded as the key underlying infrastructures for realizing the next
generation networking and computing=2C such as cloud computing=2C ubiquitou=
s
computing=2C and 4G networks. Compared to wired networks=2C mobile and wire=
less networks
are more vulnerable to different attacks such as denial of service=2C man i=
n the
middle=2C hijacking=2C spoofing=2C etc. In addition=2C mobile and wireless =
networks
usually have limited resources=2C which is a real problem in security solut=
ion
design. These unique characteristics of the mobile and wireless networks po=
se a
number of challenges in terms of security. We need to design secure and rob=
ust
solutions which are light enough to be supported by mobile terminals and
communications. Addressing these challenging issues can provide better secu=
re
services and increase the overall system performance. This symposium aims t=
o
identify and explore different issues and challenges related to security
aspects in mobile and wireless networks. For example=2C what are the benefi=
ts or
inconvenience of mobility on security? What are the appropriate mobility mo=
dels
to have a good level of security? Are classical IDS approaches appropriate =
for
mobile environments? How can we build up trusted platforms and trustworthy
systems for mobile and wireless networks?=20

This
symposium will be held in conjunction with the 11th IEEE International
Conference on Trust=2C Security and Privacy in Computing and Communications=
 (IEEE
TrustCom-12)=2C an ideal vehicle for bringing
together researchers=2C scientists=2C engineers=2C academics and students a=
ll around
the world to share the latest updates on new security technologies that wou=
ld
shape the next generation of mobile and wireless systems and technology
platforms.=20
