A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Self-tuning Distributed Hash Table (DHT) for REsource LOcation And Discovery (RELOAD)
        Authors : Jouni Maenpaa
                          Gonzalo Camarillo

	Pages : 21

Abstract:
REsource LOcation And Discovery (RELOAD) is a peer-to-peer (P2P)
signaling protocol that provides an overlay network service. Peers
in a RELOAD overlay network collectively run an overlay algorithm to
organize the overlay, and to store and retrieve data. This document
describes how the default topology plugin of RELOAD can be extended
to support self-tuning, that is, to adapt to changing operating
conditions such as churn and network size.

This draft is a work item of the Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation Protocol Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Service Discovery Usage for REsource LOcation And Discovery (RELOAD)
        Authors : Jouni Maenpaa

	Pages : 19
	Date : 2014-05-10

Abstract:
REsource LOcation and Discovery (RELOAD) does not define a generic
service discovery mechanism as a part of the base protocol. This
document defines how the Recursive Distributed Rendezvous (ReDiR)
service discovery mechanism used in OpenDHT can be applied to RELOAD
overlays to provide a generic service discovery mechanism.

I have reviewed this document in preparation for IETF last call. It=E2=80=99s in
good shape and I have issued the last call. Below I have a few comments
and questions for you to address together with any last call comments.

Section 6:
"To calculate an appropriate stabilization rate, the
values of three parameters MUST be estimated: overlay size N, failure
rate U, and join rate L.=E2=80=9D

Seems like s/MUST/must/ is appropriate here =E2=80=94 the formula for the
stabilization rate is essentially infeasible to calculate unless the
implementation estimates these parameters in any event.

Section 6.3:
s/K is set 25%/K is set to 25%/

Section 6.5:
It would be useful to have text here or in Section 7 to motivate the
choice of 4 as the default value for number-of-peers-to-probe and to note
the implications of using a number smaller than 4.

Section 8:
s/help ensuring/help ensure/

Section 9.1:
s/3/0x3/ (for consistency with the IANA registry)

Thanks,
Alissa

The IESG has received a request from the Peer-to-Peer Session Initiation
Protocol WG (p2psip) to consider the following document:
- 'Self-tuning Distributed Hash Table (DHT) for REsource LOcation And
   Discovery (RELOAD)'
  <draft-ietf-p2psip-self-tuning-11.txt> as Proposed Standard

The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits
final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the
ietf@ietf.org mailing lists by 2014-06-11. Exceptionally, comments may be
sent to iesg@ietf.org instead. In either case, please retain the
beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting.

Abstract

REsource LOcation And Discovery (RELOAD) is a peer-to-peer (P2P)
signaling protocol that provides an overlay network service. Peers
in a RELOAD overlay network collectively run an overlay algorithm to
organize the overlay, and to store and retrieve data. This document
describes how the default topology plugin of RELOAD can be extended
to support self-tuning, that is, to adapt to changing operating
conditions such as churn and network size.

I have reviewed this document in preparation for IETF last call. It=E2=80=99s in
good shape. I have one question before I issue the last call, though.
Given that the base RELOAD spec already defines a discovery mechanism for
TURN, I was surprised to see TURN as the only service registered in the
new namespaces registry. What was the rationale for that decision?

Some nits to be resolved with any last call comments:

Section 2:
s/"turn-relay=E2=80=9D/=E2=80=9Cturn-server=E2=80=9D/

Section 4.2:
"It is RECOMMENDED that Lstart is set to 2.=E2=80=9D

It would be helpful to add some text here to motivate the decision to use
2 as the recommendation.

Section 4.5
s/note: within the entire tree/note: within the entire tree node/

Section 5:
s/every kind which is storable/every Kind which is storable/

Section 6:
s/REDIR kind/REDIR Kind/

Section 8:
s/"REDIR=E2=80=9D kind/"REDIR=E2=80=9D Kind/

Section 9:
Seems like this section deserves a mention of the fact that a new access
control policy had to be defined for Redir.

Section 10.4:
s/IANA SHALL create/IANA is requested to create/

Thanks,
Alissa
