The IESG has approved the following document:
- 'Signaling Root-Initiated Point-to-Multipoint Pseudowire using LDP'
  (draft-ietf-pals-p2mp-pw-04.txt) as Proposed Standard

This document is the product of the Pseudowire And LDP-enabled Services
Working Group.

The IESG contact persons are Alvaro Retana, Alia Atlas and Deborah Brungard.

A URL of this Internet Draft is:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-pals-p2mp-pw/

Technical Summary

This document specifies a mechanism to signal Point-to-Multipoint (P2MP)
Pseudowires (PW) tree using LDP. Such a mechanism is suitable for any Layer 2
VPN service requiring P2MP connectivity over an IP or MPLS enabled PSN.
A P2MP PW established via the proposed mechanism is root initiated. This
document updates RFC7385 by re-assigning reserved value 0xFF to be the
wildcard transport tunnel type.

Working Group Summary

The Working Group and its predecessor (PWE3) took a long time
to finish the document. There was not much comment on it in
WGLC. It is none-the-less a useful document which should be
published as part of completing the IETF work on "classical"
pseudowires.

Document Quality

This is a well written document that clearly explains how to
signal Root-Initiated Point-to-Multipoint Pseudowire using LDP.

The following errata report has been submitted for RFC8077,
"Pseudowire Setup and Maintenance Using the Label Distribution Protocol (LDP)".

You may review the report below and at:

Type: Technical
Reported by: JAYANT BHARDWAJ <jbhardwa@ciena.com>

Section: 6.1

Original Text
-------------
- Group ID

An arbitrary 32-bit value that represents a group of PWs that is
used to create groups in the PW space. The Group ID is intended
to be used as a port index or a virtual tunnel index. To simplify
configuration, a particular PW Group ID at ingress could be part
of a Group ID assigned to the virtual tunnel for transport to the
egress router. The Group ID is very useful for sending wildcard
label withdrawals or PW wildcard status Notification messages to
remote PEs upon physical port failure.

Notes
-----
The PW group can be created on basis of the transport tunnel index.

So Group Id can be used to send PW wildcard status notification to remote PEs on physical port failure or Transport tunnel failure.

Whilst the statement is correct, I interpret the sentence as providing
an example rather than a definitive list. Thus the proposed errata is
simply providing another use example. There will be no interworking
issues  or functional issues with the original text.

Looking at the errata acceptance criteria
https://www.ietf.org/iesg/statement/errata-processing.html I don't think
it makes the grade beyond hold for document update, but since I very
much doubt that this RFC will be revised in the foreseeable future I
would be inclined to reject it.

It is not clear to me that it will be possible to detect a tunnel failure, =
at any point in the corresponding tunnel LSP other than tunnel end points, =
except as a result of a physical port failure.

Subject: [Pals] [Technical Errata Reported] RFC8077 (5243)

The following errata report has been submitted for RFC8077, "Pseudowire Set=
up and Maintenance Using the Label Distribution Protocol (LDP)".

--------------------------------------
You may review the report below and at:
http://www.rfc-editor.org/errata/eid5243

--------------------------------------
Type: Technical

Corrected Text
--------------
- Group ID
=20
An arbitrary 32-bit value that represents a group of PWs that is
used to create groups in the PW space. The Group ID is intended
to be used as a port index or a virtual tunnel index. To simplify
configuration, a particular PW Group ID at ingress could be part
of a Group ID assigned to the virtual tunnel for transport to the
egress router. The Group ID is very useful for sending wildcard
label withdrawals or PW wildcard status Notification messages to
remote PEs upon physical port failure or transport tunnel failure.

Notes
-----
The PW group can be created on basis of the transport tunnel index.

So Group Id can be used to send PW wildcard status notification to remote =
PEs on physical port failure or Transport tunnel failure.
