A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Path Computation Element Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Inclusion of Manageability Sections in PCE Working Group Drafts
	Author(s) : A. Farrel
	Filename : draft-ietf-pce-manageability-requirements-09.txt
	Pages : 12
	Date : 2010-04-01

It has often been the case that manageability considerations have
been retrofitted to protocols after they have been specified,
standardized, implemented, or deployed. This is sub-optimal.
Similarly, new protocols or protocol extensions are frequently
designed without due consideration of manageability requirements.

The Operations Area has developed "Guidelines for Considering
Operations and Management of New Protocols and Protocol Extensions"
(RFC 5706), and those guidelines have been adopted by the PCE Working
Group.

Previously, the PCE Working Group used the recommendations contained
in this document to guide authors of Internet-Drafts on the contents
of "Manageability Considerations" sections in their work. This
document is retained for historic reference.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-pce-manageability-requirements-09.txt

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP at:
ftp://ftp.ietf.org/internet-drafts/

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

Dear WG,

We had some discussion on the mailing to move forward from now on with
RFC 5706 and request to adopt draft-ietf-pce-manageability-
requirements as an historic RFC.

There was a good consensus during the WG meeting in Anaheim but as
usual let's confirm on the mailing list.

If you are opposed to this approach, please let us know by April 9.

Thanks.

Working group,

As discussed in Anaheim, I updated this draft to set it up as Historic as
the WG switches over to use RFC 5706.

As far as I am concerned, the draft is now done and I'd be happy to see a
last call.

Comments are always welcome.

Thanks,
Adrian

Hi.
*
The consensus is confirmed: we will move forward by making
draft-ietf-pce-manageability-requirements a historic RFC.

Hi all.

As some of you may have noticed, the minutes of the PCE meeting in
Anaheim have been on line for a few days:
http://www.ietf.org/proceedings/10mar/minutes/pce.htm

If you like them, you should thank Dan, our secretary; if you do not,
please contact the chairs and explain the issue: we will try to address it.

Best regards,

Julien

Hi All,

The authors of draft-ietf-pce-pcep-p2mp-extensions-10 recently submitted a
new version of our document to address some IETF Last Call and IANA
comments. The main changes were the IANA updates below:

- Section 3.16 PCEP NO-PATH Indicator
The NO-PATH object bit has been updated from "0x24" to "bit 24"
http://www.iana.org/assignments/pcep/pcep.xml#pcep-tlv-type-indicators

- Section 3.3.2 P2MP END-POINTS Object
We have now added two new END-POINTS Object-Types for Object-Class 4
(END-POINTS) in our IANA Considerations
http://www.iana.org/assignments/pcep/pcep.xml#pcep-objects

- Section 6.5 PCEP Objects
Since the last version of our draft we have noticed another document has
been assigned the previous PCEP Object-Class values we requested (25, 26, 27
and 28) so we have updated our draft accordingly. We also updated the text,
we underline that we are requesting four new PCE Object-Classes and eight
new Object-Types.
http://www.iana.org/assignments/pcep/pcep.xml#pcep-objects

- Section 6.8 SVEC Object Flag Field
We documented our request in the IANA considerations section of our
document. Specifically we have requested two new bits in the SVEC Object
Flag field.
http://www.iana.org/assignments/pcep/pcep.xml#svec-object-flag-field

- Section 3.1 PCE P2MP Capability
We have cleaned up our text and requested a new OSPF Capability Flag to be
used to indicate P2MP path computation capability.

Subject: MPLS 2010 Conference - Call for Presentation Abstracts
To: mpls@ietf.org

The MPLS 2010 International Conference, the 13th Annual International
Conference on MPLS and Related Technologies, will be held October 24 -
27, 2010, in Washington, DC. The Technical Program Committee is
soliciting abstracts summarizing a proposed presentation representing
original/unpublished work covering cutting-edge topics.

Presentations covering new technologies and operational experience are
solicited from network equipment vendors, service/transport providers,
government agencies, the research community, and enterprise users.

The deadline for submission of presentation proposals is April 23, 2010.

If you want further information on MPLS 2010 or want to submit a
presentation abstract, please see the following URL:

http://www.isocore.com/mpls2010/call_for_papers/cfp.htm

Many of these topics have been of interest to members of the MPLS WG
in the past, and several people active in the working group have been
presenters at past events.

Regards and thanks,
Andy Malis
Co-chair, Technical Program Committee - MPLS 2010 Conference
