Hi All,

Happy New Year!=20

Let's start with some questions to the WG and Chairs.=20

1. IRO-Survey (http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-dhody-pce-iro-survey/)
Should this informational survey be adopted and moved towards RFC?
		Or just dropped...

2. IRO-Update (http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-dhody-pce-iro-update/)
	WG Adoption Call?
		A simple I-D, should be fast tracked?=20
Other WG documents in PCE, TEAS are dependent on it.=20

3. Domain-Sequence (http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-pce-pcep-dom=
ain-sequence/)
Wenhu asked WG about the track of the document, What is the WG opinion=
? Does it needs to be on standards track? =20
Ready to be moved along towards publication...

Please provide your suggestions on progressing these documents...=20

Regards,
Dhruv (on behalf of co-authors)

	Filename : draft-ietf-pce-pcep-stateful-pce-gmpls-02.txt
	Pages : 15
	Date : 2015-01-07

Abstract:
The Path Computation Element (PCE) facilitates Traffic Engineering
(TE) based path calculation in large, multi-domain, multi-region, or
multi-layer networks. [Stateful-PCE] provides the fundamental PCE
communication Protocol (PCEP) extensions needed to support stateful
PCE functions, without specifying the technology-specific extensions.
This memo provides extensions required for PCEP so as to enable the
usage of a stateful PCE capability in GMPLS-controlled networks.

[JM] This was preliminary and necessary work for the following I-D. Not
sure the overhead from authors/chairs/shepherds to reach RFC is
required, but if the WG thinks otherwise, we may consider it.

[JM] This is the significant output of the above. We will proceed
accordingly.

[JM] Here, we really need to hear the WG's opinion. It is not too late
to change (again), but we need to see more views about this before
moving again.

The IESG has approved the following document:
- 'Conveying Vendor-Specific Constraints in the Path Computation Element
   communication Protocol'
  (draft-ietf-pce-rfc7150bis-01.txt) as Proposed Standard

This document is the product of the Path Computation Element Working
Group.

The IESG contact persons are Alia Atlas and Adrian Farrel.

A URL of this Internet Draft is:
http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-pce-rfc7150bis/

Technical Summary

The Path Computation Element communication Protocol (PCEP) is used to
convey path computation requests and responses both between Path
Computation Clients (PCCs) and Path Computation Elements (PCEs) and
between cooperating PCEs. In PCEP, the path computation requests
carry details of the constraints and objective functions that the PCC
wishes the PCE to apply in its computation.

This document defines a facility to carry vendor-specific information
in PCEP using a dedicated object and a new Type-Length-Value (TLV)
that can be carried in any PCEP object that supports TLVs.

This document obsoletes RFC 7150. The only changes from that
document are a clarification of the use of the new Type-Length-Value
and the allocation of a different code point for the VENDOR-
   INFORMATION object.

Working Group Summary

This bis versions became necessary because of an inadvertant
clash with codepoints used in another Internet-Draft that had been
deployed without IANA allocation. The PCE working group has
conducted a survey of implementations and deployments of RFC 7150
and considers that this change is safe and does not harm early
     implementers of RFC 7150.

Document Quality

Some implementations claim to use the extensions defined in the I-D. The original RFC 7150 already passed IESG review.

Personnel

Who is the Document Shepherd? Julien Meuric

Who is the Responsible Area Director? Alia Atlas

Hi, all:
One open issue when we discussed draft-dw-pce-service-segment-routing<https=
://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-dw-pce-service-segment-routing-00> in IETF 91 =
meeting is how to support service chain in the segment routing, Rob concern=
ed service chaining was not well supported in the current base segment rout=
ing draft(https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-pce-segment-routing-00).

We believe this is true. To address this issue, we propose to remove servic=
e chaining or service function related text from draft-dw-pce-service-segme=
nt-routing<https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-dw-pce-service-segment-routing=
-00> and use service segment to represent specific treatment offered by SR =
enabled node(s) in the path, e.g.,

[I-D.filsfils-spring-segment-routing-use-cases] describes using local servi=
ce- Segment to

stand for a BGP-VPN service.

We like to get people's feeling about this proposal before making update. T=
hanks.

Regards!

-Qin

Abstract:
A stateful Path Computation Element (PCE) has access to not only the
information disseminated by the network's Interior Gateway Protocol
(IGP), but also the set of active paths and their reserved resources
for its computation. The additional Label Switched Path (LSP) state
information allows the PCE to compute constrained paths while
considering individual LSPs and their interactions. This requires a
reliable state synchronization mechanism between the PCE and the
network, PCE and path computation clients (PCCs), and between
cooperating PCEs. The basic mechanism for state synchronization is
part of the stateful PCE specification. This draft presents
motivations for optimizations to the base state synchronization
procedure and specifies the required Path Computation Element
   Communication Protocol (PCEP) extensions.

Hi PCErs,=20

Here is an update addressing all comments received during WG LC.=20

The main differences are -=20

~ A separate capability flags for TRIGGERED-INITIAL-SYNC (F) and TRIGGERED-=
RESYNC (T) bits
~ Added Manageability Considerations
~ Updated Security Considerations
~ Introduction to all the procedures in section 1
~ Editorial changes as suggested during the review

Please have a look [http://www.ietf.org/rfcdiff?url2=3Ddraft-ietf-pce-state=

All,

Imho it can be adopted. It clarifies RFC5440 to state that IRO is
ordered and the role of L bit. Being involved in the domain sequence
draft that triggered this, and contributed to the survey, I am ok with
the outcome. That said, and for completeness, I remember someone
(Adrian?) mentioned in the past that not assuming ordering in IRO could
mean more flexibility to the PCE. Maybe this can be addressed in the future?

thanks
Ramon

support the IRO update document, and having it as RFC means it will not

become obsolete. If it is dropped, stating in the IRO update draft that
a surver was conducted would be enough.

the main and only change, iirc)

My thoughts...

As a contributor to the WG:
We needed this to be sure that changing the IRO behaviour would not severely
discombobulate anyone.
We do not need it archived as an RFC.
The I-D *is* now archived forever (even after expiring).
If we want the material to continue to live (I don't think we really do) then
putting it on the WG Wiki would be fine.

As an AD:
You will find it hard to get IESG support for publishing this as an RFC.

Adrian

Hi,

I have few comments on draft-ietf-pce-pce-initiated-lsp-02. Sorry for missi=
ng in the working group lc. Hope the comments can be handled along with IET=
F lc or AD review.

In section 3 -
To indicate a delete operation, the PCE MUST use the R flag in the
SRP object in a PCUpd message. As a result of the deletion request,
the PCC MUST remove all state related to the LSP, and send a PCRpt
with the R flag set in the LSP object for the removed state. See
   details in Section 5.4.

   But section 5.4 shows that
"PCE-initiated removal of a PCE-initiated LSP is done by setting the R
(remove) flag in the SRP Object in the PCInitiate message from the
PCE. The LSP is identified by the PLSP-ID in the LSP object."

   In section 5.3.1 -
The optional SPEAKER-IDENTITY-ID TLV defined in
[I-D.ietf-pce-stateful-sync-optimizations] MAY be included in the LSP
object as an optional TLV for LSPs for which the C-flag is 1, to
identify the PCE who initiated the creation of the LSP on all PCEP
sessions. If the TLV appears for an LSP for which the C flag is 0,
the TLV MUST be ignored the PCC MUST send a PCErr message with Error-
type 23 ("Bad parameter value") and error value 2 ("Speaker identity
included for an LSP that is not PCE-initiated").

C flag is carried in LSP object of PCRpt messages from PCC. And SPEAKER-=
IDENTITY-ID tlv is optional in that LSP object. How does PCC send PCErr mes=
sage with Error-type 23 ("Bad parameter value") and error value 2 ("Speaker=
identity included for an LSP that is not PCE-initiated") to PCE ?

Regards,
Venu

Abstract:
The Hierarchical Path Computation Element (H-PCE) architecture,
provides a mechanism to allow the optimum sequence of domains to be
selected, and the optimum end-to-end path to be derived through the
use of a hierarchical relationship between domains.

This document defines the Path Computation Element Protocol (PCEP)
extensions for the purpose of implementing Hierarchical PCE
procedures which are described in the aforementioned document. These
extensions are experimental and published for examination,
   discussion, implementation, and evaluation.
