Bert,

I've checked recently posted IESG status reports and can't find evidence
that the PCLS draft has made any progress. Has it? When will it?

TIA,
Larry

The IESG has approved the Internet-Draft 'Policy Core Information Model
Extensions' <draft-ietf-policy-pcim-ext-08.txt> as a Proposed
Standard, updating RFC3060, Policy Core Information Model - Version 1
Specification, also a Proposed Standard.

This document is the product of the Policy Framework Working
Group. The IESG contact persons are Bert Wijnen and Randy Bush.

Technical Summary

This document specifies a number of changes to the Policy Core
Information Model (PCIM, RFC 3060). These changes include both
extensions of PCIM into areas that it did not previously cover,
and changes to the existing PCIM classes and associations.
Both sets of changes are done in a way that, to the extent
possible, preserves interoperability with implementations of
      the original PCIM model.

Working Group Summary

The working group reached consensus on this document as a Proposed
    Standard.

Protocol Quality

This document was reviewed for the IESG by Harald Alvestrand and
    Bert Wijnen.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Policy Framework Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Policy Core LDAP Schema
	Author(s)	: J. Strassner, R. Moore, R. Moats, E. Ellesson
	Filename	: draft-ietf-policy-core-schema-16.txt
	Pages : 57
	Date : 2002-10-11

This document defines a mapping of the Policy Core Information Model
to a form that can be implemented in a directory that uses Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) as its access protocol. This model
defines two hierarchies of object classes: structural classes
representing information for representing and controlling policy data
as specified in RFC3060, and relationship classes that indicate how
instances of the structural classes are related to each other. Classes
are also added to the LDAP schema to improve the performance of a
client's interactions with an LDAP server when the client is retrieving
large amounts of policy-related information. These classes exist only
to optimize LDAP retrievals: there are no classes in the information
model that correspond to them.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-policy-core-schema-16.txt

To remove yourself from the IETF Announcement list, send a message to
ietf-announce-request with the word unsubscribe in the body of the message.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the username
"anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After logging in,
type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-policy-core-schema-16.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-policy-core-schema-16.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

FYI: A new PCLS draft is in the IETF Internet Draft repository at:

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-policy-core-schema-16.txt

This -16 version of the draft was created as a result of the IESG's
review of the -15 version. The changes are summarized as follows:

-References updated, including addition of recently published LDAP RFC's
-Changed MUSTs and MAYs to plain English phrases where appropriate, in
reference to characteristics of DIT Content Rules, DIT Structure Rules,
and Name Forms, per review comments from IESG reviewer.
-Typos and acronyms corrected, plus acronyms are now spelled out on
first use.

The IESG just approved this document.
Formal announcement to be posted by IESG secretary
in a few days.

Thanks to the WG and specifically to the authors/editors.

Appologies that it took so long and so many cycles.
