CALL FOR PAPERS <apologies for any duplicates>

Special Issue on "Management of Softwarized Networks"
IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management
-- http://www.comsoc.org/tnsm/cfp/si-msn --

 * Paper submission date: February 15, 2016
 * Notification of acceptance: April 18, 2016
 * Publication date*: September 1, 2016

Currently, there is a strong interest in both industry and academia in
the softwarization of telecommunication networks and cloud computing
infrastructures. This evolution of network softwarization is enabled
by three paradigms: (i) Software-Defined Networking (SDN), which
allows network control to be separated from the forwarding plane and
allows for a flexible management of the network resources, (ii)
Network Virtualization (NV), which enables virtualization of network
resources, and (iii) Network Function Virtualization (NFV), which
focuses on virtualization of software-based network functions. Instead
of installing and managing dedicated hardware devices for these
functions, they are instead implemented as software components and
deployed on commodity hardware infrastructures. There are also ongoing
research efforts focusing on Software-Defined Clouds, including edge
clouds and Fog Computing.
In order to efficiently manage softwarized networks and to be able to
use them to their full potential, there are many interesting
challenges to be addressed (see the areas listed below).
We welcome submissions addressing the important challenges and
presenting novel research or experimentation results. Survey papers
that offer a perspective on related work and identify key challenges
for future research will be considered as well. We look forward to
your submissions!

Topics of interest for this special issue, include, but are not
limited to the following:
 * APIs and management protocols for software programmable networks
 * Management of SDIs (Software-Defined Infrastructures)
 * Virtualization of resources, services and functions in SDN and NFV
 * Management of software-defined datacenters
 * Resource management for SDN or NFV-based systems
 * Efficient management of cloud computing and softwarized edge
cloud infrastructures
 * Network softwarization for 5G networks
 * Life cycle management of virtual network functions, SFC modeling
and representation
 * Composition algorithms and automated deployment of Service
Function Chains (SFCs)
 * Algorithms for efficient orchestration in softwarized networks
 * Dynamic resource scaling and migration of network functions in
NFV-based systems
 * Efficient network and service monitoring for SDN or NFV
 * Security management for SDN and NFV-based systems
 * Automated configuration and repair of virtualized software-defined systems
 * Algorithms for diagnosis and correlation of events in SDN or
NFV-based systems
 * Availability and resilience of virtualized software-defined systems
 * Debugging and introspection of software-defined virtualized systems
 * Management of federated SDN/NFV infrastructures
 * Detailed experience reports from experimental testbeds
 * Transition strategies from existing networks to SDN/NFV

IMPORTANT DATES
. Paper Submission: January 31, 2016
. Notification of Acceptance: February 29, 2016
. Camera-ready Submission: March 13, 2016

SCOPE
The IEEE International Workshop on Security in Virtualized Networks (Sec-Vi=
rtNet 2016) will be held on June 10, 2016 in Seoul Korea along with the 2nd=
IEEE International Conference on Network Softwarization (NetSoft 2016). So=
ftware-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) t=
echnologies fundamentally change the network architecture as well as the wa=
y networks (e.g., mobile or transport networks) will be deployed and operat=
ed. This new generation of virtualized and multi-tenant networks comes with=
various promises (e.g., CAPEX and OPEX optimization) but also raises sever=
al new security challenges, in particular because network functions will no=
longer be embedded and thus "protected" within network equipments. Besides=
, network virtualization also brings various opportunities for security suc=
h as the possibility to offer software-based security appliances or Securit=
y as a Service.
The Sec-VirtNet 2016 workshop focuses on novel research topics dealing with=
security in these virtualized networks. Submitted papers should provide th=
eoretical or practical approaches to identify and address the critical secu=
rity issues of such virtualized networks or, conversely, to exploit these p=
romising virtualization and SDN technologies in order to offer innovative s=
ecurity services.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
Authors are invited to submit papers that fall into the area of software-de=
fined and virtualized infrastructures.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
. Security of Software Defined Networking (SDN)
. Security of virtualized network applications
. Security of SDN controllers
. SDN protocol hardening
. Security of Network Function Virtualization (NFV)
. Security of multi-tenant virtualized networks
. SDN/NFV-based security deployment
. Dynamic security assessment & testing
. Security assurance in virtualized networks
. SDN-based analytics for security
. Security-aware network service chaining and orchestration
. Security of network slicing
. Security of 5G network infrastructure including IoT & verticals
. Security services based on SDN and network virtualization
. Virtualization of security appliances (eg firewall, IDS)
. Security as a Service (SECaaS)
. Trusted computing in SDN and NFV environments
. Security & privacy policy management in virtualized network
. Enforcement of sovereignty policies in virtualized networks
. Regulation & liability management in software-based networks

PAPER SUBMISSION
Authors are invited to submit only original papers (written in English) not=
published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers can be up to 6 pa=
ges. Papers should be in IEEE 2-column US-Letter style using IEEE Conferenc=
e templates (http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/=
templates.html) and submitted in PDF format via JEMS at: https://jems.sbc.o=
rg.br/sec-virtnet2016.
Papers exceeding these limits, multiple submissions, and self-plagiarized p=
apers will be rejected without further review. All submitted papers will be=
subject to a peer-review process. The accepted papers will be published in=
the Sec-VirtNet 2016 Proceedings and appear in IEEE Xplore=AE.

<p class=3D"MsoNormal">The IEEE International Workshop on Security in Virtu=
alized Networks (Sec-VirtNet 2016) will be held on June 10, 2016 in Seoul K=

Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies fu=
ndamentally change the network architecture as well as the way networks (e.=
g., mobile or transport networks) will be deployed and operated. This new g=
eneration of virtualized and multi-tenant
networks comes with various promises (e.g., CAPEX and OPEX optimization) b=
ut also raises several new security challenges, in particular because netwo=
rk functions will no longer be embedded and thus “protected” wi=
thin network equipments. Besides, network virtualization
also brings various opportunities for security such as the possibility to =

of such virtualized networks or, conversely, to exploit these promising vi=
