The minutes note consensus in the meeting on several topics. I'm =
attempting to capture them here.

The mailing list is always the final word on consensus. If you object =
to any of the following, you should speak on list now!

If I've missed something noted in the minutes, you should speak on the =
list now!

If you think there was consensus on a topic not noted in the minutes - =
see previous message about the deadline for corrections.

In the discussion of draft-ietf-sidr-bgpsec-protocol:

consensus to remove origin validation
check from this document and add text explaining the oddly appearing
case of OV invalid, BGPSEC path authentic/valid.

Discussion has not converged <consensus that there was no consensus on =
signature choice>

In the discussion of draft-ietf-sidr-as-migration:

    1) What status should this document be?
Concensus appeared to be the same status as BGPSEC
      =20
    2) Should this document be merged into BGPSEC-Protocol
Concensus appeared to be not to merge
      =20
    3) Should this document "Update" BGPSEC-Protocol
Concensus appeared to be that an update header is not needed if =
both=20

In the discussion of Router Keying Communication of cert to CA:

Concensus <sic> appeared to be that one ASN per router certificate is
sufficient.

Speaking as regular ol' member:

The opsec bgp security draft is in IETF last call.

John Scudder made an interesting observation, which looks of interest to =
this group.

it has to happen occasionally, but jgs was not completely correct, as

it was intended more as prefer valid. but i take your point. do remind
me when we have gained enough experience to rev 7115

true, if they are notfound, then they can not be either valid or invalid
as there is no covering roa.

you have a sick mind.:) yes, this is possible. so perhaps qualify the
recommendation.

in a configuration when some announcements may be checked and others
not, it is possible that a prefix may be marked both notfound,
because of not being checked, and [in]valid, because it is checked.
in this configuration, we recommend that the operator prefer valid
   over notfound.

It has been some months. Sean Turner did respond to the last point. Is =

Helo from sidr-co-chair:
Are there no more comments and concerns and improvements and "Hey,
awesome draft!" things to be said about this draft?

With no input it's a tad hard to judge the quality of the draft and
it's applicability to SIDR in general...

-chris
(note, I've read the draft and think it's helpful to migrating
operational networks together... in a land where SIDR is in play)

i think i already said this. but i have reviewed. the scheme is
solid. the document is in scale to the scope of the problem
(unfortunately not simple). ship it.

The document is stable, and well written.

I re-read it (even with jetlagged eyes) and saw nothing that caused
concern. The corollary, and as mentioned in the draft, is that without
_really_ understanding the companion document in IDR any attempts to pick
this text up to read as a standalone is pointless.

I think this document can move forward.

Folks,

we, a group of researchers, try to better understand the deployment of
RPKI and DNSSEC. It's not always easy to find technical reasons for what
we observe. To get more insights why you deploy or don't deploy RPKI or
DNSSEC, we would like to ask you to participate in the following brief
survey:

                http://eSurv.org?u=rpkidnssec

We really appreciate your time. It should not take more than 5 minutes
to complete the survey.

The survey is anonymous. The results are only used to improve research
on inter-networking. If there is interest, we will post the results to
the list.

Fell free to contact me offlist in case of further questions or
comments.

Many thanks!

matthias
(on behalf of the team)

A couple of comments here:

- I have the feeling that it'd be good to begin referring to locators as
just 'URIs' instead of insisting on them being 'rsync URIs'. If the
group ever decides to address the subject of repository transport, and
since we are revisiting 6490, we might save little work down the road.

- A two or more URI example would be a good addition.

regards

Carlos

There's been no comment in the wg on this draft, but the changes came =

attention.

The authors and chairs are satisfied that this draft is ready for a =

A couple of comments here:

- I have the feeling that it'd be good to begin referring to locators as
just 'URIs' instead of insisting on them being 'rsync URIs'. If the
group ever decides to address the subject of repository transport, and
since we are revisiting 6490, we might save little work down the road.

- A two or more URI example would be a good addition.

regards

Carlos

I support the publication of this document as an RFC.
I have read the revised -02 version carefully.
The description of the methodology is clear, and no inconsistencies found=20
with reference to the BGPsec protocol draft [draft-ietf-sidr-bgpsec-protoco=
l].=20

I thank the authors for incorporating most of my earlier comments/suggestio=
ns.
Some minor nits/editorial comments follow:

1. Figures 3 and 4 from the companion I-D draft-ietf-idr-as-migration are r=
eferenced=20
several times in this document. It would be easier for the readers if those=
 two figures=20
are reproduced in this document when they are first referenced.=20
Readers can then avoid having to go back and forth between the two document=
s.

2. The meaning of this sentence on p.4 is lost on me.=20

"Since they
are using methods to migrate that do not require coordination with
customers, they do not have a great deal of control over the length
of the transition period as they might with something completely
under their administrative control (e.g. a key roll)."

For me, "do not require coordination with customers" and=20
"completely under their administrative control" are on the same=20
side of the equation.

May be this paraphrasing will help:
"Since they
are using interim methods to migrate that seek to postpone
 requiring coordination with
customers, they do not have a great deal of control over the length
of the transition period as they might with something completely
under their administrative control (e.g. a key roll)."

3. Sentence on p.5 reads:

"Assuming that this mismatch will be allowed by vendor implementations
and using it as a means to solve this migration case is likely to be
   problematic."

Please consider changing it to (for grammatical accuracy):

"Assuming that this mismatch will be allowed by vendor implementations,
using it as a means to solve this migration case is likely to be
   problematic."

Thanks.

uh, having data in two places is a recipe for trouble. this is why we
do references. i really don't like copy and paste between docs. but
perhaps i am alone in this.

rest of your comments fool me into belief :)
