Communication through the language barrier in relation to the Internet of T=
hings.
=20
There is a document available on the web.
=20
http://www.iso.org/iso/internet_of_things_report-jtc1.pdf
=20
Section 4.1 of the document has the following as the definition for the Int=
ernet of Things.
=20
=E2=80=9CAn infrastructure of interconnected objects, people, systems and i=
nformation resources together with intelligent services to allow them to pr=
ocess information of the physical and the virtual world and react.=E2=80=9D
=20
I have not got very far with thinking about how localizable sentences would=
 work with the Internet of Things, yet it does seem to me that with such an=
 infrastructure it could be helpful if a person could select, from a cascad=
ing menu system on his or her computer or mobile telephone, a localizable s=
entence displayed in his or her own language and then a language-independen=
t code could be transmitted automatically to an "intelligent" object, and t=
hat any response from the "intelligent" object to the person could be a lan=
guage-independent code that could be localized automatically in the person'=
s local computer or mobile telephone, then that could be a useful way in th=
e Internet of Things for "intelligent" objects to work in a language-indepe=
ndent manner and people to work each in their own language.

Hi Alexey,

Thank you for your help. Section 5.4. (unchanged)

<says>
    An offer or answer indicating written Greek both ways:

       m=text 45020 RTP/AVP 103 104
       a=hlang-send:gr
       a=hlang-recv:gr

Similarly, Spanish is referred to as "sp".
</says>4

<It should say>
    An offer or answer indicating written Greek both ways:

       m=text 45020 RTP/AVP 103 104
       a=hlang-send:el
       a=hlang-recv:el

An occurrence of "sp" as a language tag should be replaced with "es".
</It should say>

<note>
The language tags to represent Greek and Spanish are "el" and "es" per
BCP 47, respectively.

The IANA Language Subtag Registry has the following entries:

Type: language
Subtag: el
Description: Modern Greek (1453-)
Added: 2005-10-16

Type: language
Subtag: es
Description: Spanish
Added: 2005-10-16

Dan

By the way, the draft does correctly use 'es' to refer to Spanish in =

several places before erroneously using 'sp'. It only refers to Greek =

once (and erroneously, as you caught).
