hi all,

I wanted to know what information must be sent from the SCF to the SPIRTIS
Client
when the TDP is triggered ? Is the Information corresponding
to the Event Triggered (like calling party number ,called party number,
etc...)is
sufficient for the SPIRITS Client to make an Invite message and send it to the
Subscriber?

thanks

UCB,

The data that is SCF is sending to the SPIRITS Client upon encountering
TDP has to contain enough parameter information to uniquely identify
PIC. Please remember that we are talking about different national
dialects of INAP (possible different set of parameters). Also, please
remember that we cannot expect more parameter information from SCF than
SCF can give us.
To answer your question, "calling party number, called party number,
etc.", depending on the type of TDP, might or might not be enough to
satisfy the uniqueness requirement.

Regards,
Alec

That will depend on the DP; a list of possible candidates is listed in
Appendix A of
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-spirits-in-03.txt

Should be; although note that it is not neccessary for all cases that an
INVITE is sent from the SPIRITS client; many services will use a NOTIFY,
for instance. See the I-D
http://search.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-gurbani-spirits-location-00.txt
for a list of some such services.

hi all,
The INAP Parameters and Data Types are described in

the SPIRITS Protocol. Why this section is added must

     be clearly specified ? Is'nt it ?

Is the SPIRITS directly mapping the

Operations and the Data Types given in the IN?

I wanted to know how these Information Flows are

useful ? Since the SPIRITS Protocol does not talk about these.

The XML of the IFs are also described in the SPIRITS Protocol.

By this i understand the following.

For example in the ICW Service if the SUBSCRIBER (SPIRITS Server) wants to
   talk to

the Person who is calling after the Notification of the Incoming call then
   it send the

Connect message by filling the message in XML format and send it to the

SPIRITS Client through the SPIRITS Gateway. Then the SPIRITS Client will
   send it to the

SCF where its encoded and send to the SSF.

     Does it make any sense?

     thanks

     UCB

hi all,

Is the BCD encoding or decoding of all the parameters like callingPartyNumber
etc
are done at the SPIRITS Client ?
If not Where?

And my another question.
When the TDP is hit.
What information has to be sent from the SCP to the SPIRITS Client.
Is that the information about particular TDP which is specified
in the draft is to be sent ? and specify the DP that has been hit.

thanks
UCB

hi all,

One simple query. Generally the services sit at the SCF. But with this SPIRITS Protocol

where does actually the SPIRITS Services reside. If they are not residing at the SCF then

what actually the SCF role? Just acts as a supporter to the SPIRITS Services.

thanks

Slater

Michael and all,

SPIRITS Client is pretty much collocated with SCP-SCF. It's
functionality includes: subscription to the DP after
receiving properly made SUBSCRIBE, formatting appropriate
NOTIFY responses, decoding XML data into ASN.1 and encoding
ASN.1 subscribed parameters into XML.
It does not do much more, unless I am still jet lagged and
forgot something.

Regards,
Alec

Yes; when an INVITE (or NOTIFY) is send from the SPIRITS client to
the SPIRITS server, parameters will be encoded in *XML*. In fact,
the INVITE body will have multipart MIME (2 parts, one of which is
the DP information, and the other will be the SDP. The latter may
be 'held' SDP if your ICW -- since ICW uses INVITE -- does not
support VoIP).

Each DP will have a list of parameters which define the set of
attributes for the service. The SPIRITS client should send the entire
set to the SPIRITS server, which will in turn use them to execute
the service.

Appendix A of the IN parameter selection I-D
(http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-spirits-in-03.txt)
provides you more input on the selection of the information relevant
to a DP.

Just a quick followup; the whole idea of SPIRITS is that the service
of interest resides in the Internet. The SCF (through the SPIRITS
client) basically transforms the whole PSTN into a gigantic UA. Thus,
Internet SIP endpoints can subscribe to and receive notifications from
this PSTN UA as well as treat it as a peer UA if they get an INVITE
from it.

Hi,

being a rookie in the game of intelligent networks .. i was wondering what are the main differences between IN-CS1 and IN-CS2 in terms of the services that can be implemented.

any piece of information will be higly helpful :-)

Dear Baljeet,

CS-1,2,3, etc. are progressively increasing packages of
functional capabilities, called Capability Sets. A service
can be implemented using IN or without using IN. IN does not
standardize or define services, but rather does define and
standardize the means of their introduction into the
network.
The Delta between CS-2 and CS-1 includes:
Internetwork Freephone, Call Transfer, Internetwork Premium
Rate, Call Waiting, Internetwork Mass Calling, Hot Line,
Internetwork Televoting, Multimedia, Global Virtual Network
Service, Terminating Key Code Screening, Completion of Call
to Busy Subscriber, Message Store and Forward, Conference
Calling, International Telecommunication Charge Card, Call
Hold, Universal Personal Telecommunications.

The description of these services can be found in Q.1221,
Annex A.

Hope this helps,
Alec

hi Gill,

IN-CS2 can provide all the services that IN-CS1 supports.
But IN-CS2 can provide the Multy Party Call Handling .
The services like Call Waiting, Three Party Calling etc....
I think this is the main difference.

Does it help.

thanks
UCB
