Hi all,

I am not sure this is the right place to ask.

This is the feedback from the TEEP-wg after the virtual hackathon and interim meeting.

TEEP was using COSE_Mac_Tagged/COSE_Sign_Tagged/COSE_Mac0_Tagged/COSE_Sign1_Tagged.
Are these tags defined the value in some drafts or iana?
When we were trying to implement the teep, we could not put the bstr or int/uint for the tags.

I the draft-ietf-suit-manifest-01, it also using these tags in page 43,
https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-suit-manifest-01

as

SUIT_Authentication_Wrapper = [ + (
     COSE_Mac_Tagged /
     COSE_Sign_Tagged /
     COSE_Mac0_Tagged /
     COSE_Sign1_Tagged)
]

COSE_Mac_Tagged = any
COSE_Sign_Tagged = any
COSE_Mac0_Tagged = any
COSE_Sign1_Tagged = any

It was deleted in teep at the link bellow of the pull request after the discussion from the hackathon,
https://github.com/ietf-teep/teep-protocol/commit/151e72b0ea3ab8ff8f59ea42004180d90006f8c9
but would be nice to know if it was OK with similar bellow,

COSE_Mac_Tagged = 1
COSE_Sign_Tagged = 2
COSE_Mac0_Tagged = 3
COSE_Sign1_Tagged = 4

Thanks,
-Akira

These values are defined in RFC 8152, draft-ietf-cose-rfc8152bis-struct or
in the IANA registry.

Hi Jim,

I think I started figure out what was going on.

The RFC8152 describes as:
  COSE_Mac_Tagged   = #6.97(COSE_Mac)
  COSE_Sign_Tagged  = #6.98(COSE_Sign)
  COSE_Mac0_Tagged  = #6.17(COSE_Mac0)
  COSE_Sign1_Tagged = #6.18(COSE_Sign1)

and I was confused with the #6 and the brackets on the right side.
After reading the implementation of tinycbor and IANA,

Tinycbor
https://github.com/intel/tinycbor/blob/master/src/tags.txt
IANA
https://www.iana.org/assignments/cbor-tags/cbor-tags.xhtml

probably it is

  COSE_Mac_Tagged   = #6.97(COSE_Mac)

means that

  CBOR Tag is 97

and uses

COSE_Mac = [
    Headers,
    payload : bstr / nil,
    tag : bstr,
    recipients :[+COSE_recipient]
]

and the examples is,

    97(
      [
        / protected / h'a1010f' / {
            \ alg \ 1:15 \ AES-CBC-MAC-256//64 \
          } / ,
        / unprotected / {},
        / payload / 'This is the content.',
        / tag / h'9e1226ba1f81b848',
        / recipients / [
          [
            / protected / h'',
            / unprotected / {
              / alg / 1:-6 / direct /,
              / kid / 4:'our-secret'
            },
            / ciphertext / h''
          ]
        ]
      ]
    )

Thanks,

-Akira

Hi Akira, Hi Jim,

based on our TEEP conference call we reduced the size of options down to CO=
SE_Sign1. Hence, the rest is gone.
That should make things easier and COSE_Sign1 is defined in the COSE spec i=
tself.

I posted a PR with the new CDDL at https://github.com/ietf-teep/teep-protoc=
ol/pull/26

Ciao
Hannes

ged/COSE_Sign1_Tagged

Hi Jim,

I think I started figure out what was going on.

The RFC8152 describes as:
  COSE_Mac_Tagged   =3D #6.97(COSE_Mac)
  COSE_Sign_Tagged  =3D #6.98(COSE_Sign)
  COSE_Mac0_Tagged  =3D #6.17(COSE_Mac0)
  COSE_Sign1_Tagged =3D #6.18(COSE_Sign1)

and I was confused with the #6 and the brackets on the right side.
After reading the implementation of tinycbor and IANA,

Tinycbor
https://github.com/intel/tinycbor/blob/master/src/tags.txt
IANA
https://www.iana.org/assignments/cbor-tags/cbor-tags.xhtml

probably it is

  COSE_Mac_Tagged   =3D #6.97(COSE_Mac)

means that

  CBOR Tag is 97

and uses

COSE_Mac =3D [
    Headers,
    payload : bstr / nil,
    tag : bstr,
    recipients :[+COSE_recipient]
]

and the examples is,

    97(
      [
        / protected / h'a1010f' / {
            \ alg \ 1:15 \ AES-CBC-MAC-256//64 \
          } / ,
        / unprotected / {},
        / payload / 'This is the content.',
        / tag / h'9e1226ba1f81b848',
        / recipients / [
          [
            / protected / h'',
            / unprotected / {
              / alg / 1:-6 / direct /,
              / kid / 4:'our-secret'
            },
            / ciphertext / h''
          ]
        ]
      ]
    )

Thanks,

-Akira

Thanks, Hannes. Based on this, Henk and I have done some additional =

Makes sense. Let=E2=80=99s fix the definition of `SUIT-envelope` in the =

Henk and I created a cleaned up version of the CBOR encoding and =

We should check whether this encoding helps us and then integrate it =

Hi Carsten and Hannes,

https://github.com/ietf-teep/teep-protocol/pull/27

The new pull request reflects all the discussion points of converting
from map and using minimum major type size for the array member.

When I was reading the cddl draft, I was not quite sure how to
describe the array with the label name.
In your pull request,

query-request =3D [
     type: TEEP-TYPE-query-request,
     token: uint,

The above cddl description has label name type and token with semicolon.
We were trying to avoid having label name inside the array.
I thought I have to use =3D> for this purpose.

Other discussion we had with the teep is to use the same nonce as the
EAT defines.

nonce =3D> bytes,
to be
nonce =3D> bstr .size (8..64)

And the size of token we never really agreed about it.
How bout
  token: uint .size 4

The 32bit unsign integer seems to be reasonable for the usage in teep.

Best,
-Akira

Hello Akira,

in an array context, the name (aka label) is annotation only. It is not
transferred over "the wire", so we did not bother to define a
corresponding type.

In other words, you could simply omit "type: " and "token: " and nothing
would change. It is annotation for humans, basically.

See https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc8610#section-2.1

Viele Grüße,

Henk

Hi Henk,

Thanks for you comment.
I now am perfectly clear about the label name is just annotation for array in cddl.

Best,
-Akira

Hi all,

I would like to restart the discussion of Unique Identifier of TA_ID in
TEEP's QueryResponse which was one of the item came up at TEEP interim meeting
last week.

The discussion started between the Hackathon in Singapore and Berlin.

This is the link to the github.
https://github.com/ietf-teep/teep-protocol/issues/4

After going though again, I started to have my preference.

The usage of TA_ID in TEEP message is to distinguish the required TA in the device
by parsing of identification id.
The it will be good to be able to match the TA with one bstr for one TA.

I started to think hash value might work.
Using the hash value from the properties of Parameters in Section 5.4.1
in SUIT CBOR Manifest for each TA.

The generating hash from adding all the properties.
These are the requited parameters.
    -  Vendor ID.
    - Class ID. # Could be file name for SGX, uuid for op-tee. uuid is used
                   as file name in op-tee anyway
    - Image Digest. # This is version of TA
It is up to the user who would like to add optional parameters for the seed.

We have to consider which hash function to use too, and easiest to come up
is probably sha256.
The hash value of sha256 is 32 bytes which is still going to be second largest
member than NONCE in TEEP message.
I prefer smaller bytes to reduce the teep message size but raw parameters of
all three above would be larger than 32bytes, so it may be acceptable.

The purpose of the hash value here is mainly for
prevent colliding between different TAs or different version in the TAM server.

-Akira

Dear all,

as RIOT provides an open source implementation of SUIT, the below call for
contributions might be of interest for you.

In particular, SUIT-related talks, tutorials, or demos are very
welcome -- *both
online and onsite* -- on Sept. 14-15. Looking forward to your proposals!

Cheers,

Emmanuel

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

RIOT Summit 2020

September 14-15, 2020

Participation options: online & on-site
(f2f meeting to be confirmed, at Station F, Paris, France)

https://summit.riot-os.org

************************************************************************

RIOT is an open source operating system for microcontroller-based IoT
devices. Initially developed by folks from academia, the RIOT community
now consists of companies, makers, and hobbyist, distributed
all around the world.

The RIOT community gathers yearly at the RIOT Summit, which brings
together RIOTers, beginners, and experts, as well as people interested
in the IoT in general and decision makers who plan to deploy RIOT in the
future. The event combines plenary talks, hands-on tutorials, and demos.

Every year since 2016, the RIOT Summit was successful in providing
a forum to connect. We aim to continue this tradition in 2020,
with some changes catering for online participation. We will try
our very best to create the special RIOT Summit atmosphere online,
as well as onsite (f2f to be confirmed, at French Tech Central in
Station F, Paris, France).

The organizers of the RIOT Summit call for contributions that relate to
RIOT and the Internet of Things. If you want to present a talk, a
tutorial, or a demo (whether online or onsite!) please consider the Call
for Contributions:

Best regards,
the organizers, on behalf of the RIOT community
