Administrative details:

The messages on urn-nid are:
https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/urn-nid/current/msg01428.html
https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/urn-nid/current/msg01429.html
https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/urn-nid/current/msg01430.html
https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/urn-nid/current/msg01431.html

The version of the URN definition attached to the message I'm replying
to (Roy.Harvey@osram.com, 7 Jan 2019) is the same as the "revised
definition" in the 3rd of the above messages (msg01430).

My opinion;

As I stated in the 4th of the above messages (msg01431), "Clearly, that
takes care of all my concerns." I believe we should approve this
application.

Dale,

Thanks for forwarding this to the urn list. I'm currently not monitoring ur=
n-nid so I didn't get Roy's message.

Two minor comments on this:
1) (procedure) RFC 8141 says that templates are to be sent to urn@ietf.org,=
not urn-nid@ietf.org. Since the application precedes RFC 8141, that should=
 be OK.
2) (template) Roy's mail talks about "the process and template in RFC 8141"=
but the registration template is the one from RFC 2141 and the text also r=
efers to RFC 2141. Since we've taken so long to process this registration, =
I don't think it would be fair to require the registrant to use the new tem=
plate from RFC 8141.

I vote for approval, too.

Best,

Lars

Dear URN@IETF,

About a week ago, I applied for a URN NID, "zcl", for the Zigbee Alliance. =
Shortly thereafter, Dale Worley kindly wrote on this mail list, "I believe=
 we should approve this application."

Since then, I have not seen further correspondence or confirmation.

RFC 8141, Clause 6.2, step 4 says, "If the Designated Experts approve the r=
equest and no
standardization action is involved, the IANA will register the requested NI=
D." Although this NID would become part of a Zigbee standard, the Zigbee A=
lliance does not seek standardization within the IETF.

I don't see in RFC 8141 how much time it takes for requests to be approved.=
Would you please advise when we can expect confirmation that the Designat=
ed Experts approved this request and that the NID "zcl" will be registered =
to Zigbee?

Thank you very much.
Best regards,

Roy Harvey

The version of the URN definition attached to the message I'm replying to (=
Roy.Harvey@osram.com, 7 Jan 2019) is the same as the "revised definition" i=
n the 3rd of the above messages (msg01430).

My opinion;

As I stated in the 4th of the above messages (msg01431), "Clearly, that tak=
es care of all my concerns." I believe we should approve this application.

Dale

Dale; all,=20

I approve this application as well.=20

There was not much information about the applicant (The ZigBee Alliance), b=
ut the ZigBee web site provided enough background information for me (see h=
ttps://www.zigbee.org/zigbee-for-developers/about-us/, for instance).=20

It would be nice to know a little bit more about the intended scope of urn:=
zcl, in order to maintain some understanding of what kind of items URNs are=
or will be applied to. =20

Best regards,=20

Juha

Best,

Lars

Apologies for not commenting on this draft until now...

Version 4 of PWID has matured considerably compared to version 3 and I thin=
k it needs at the most one or two more iterations until it's ready for regi=
stration.

I find the discussion about an IANA registry for names of web archives very=
interesting and would support the creation of such a registry. The number =
of such archives will probably be of manageable size (about the same size a=
s the number of national libraries...).

I also have a number of minor editorial issues but would wait with those un=
til the contents of the draft are more stable.

Best,

Lars
