Thanks Avshalom for your target review.=20
If the rest of reviewers are fast enough and you can check if all your
comments are addressed, I can create a new version of the draft if some
modification is needed before the cut-off.

Dedicated Reviewers:

Please perform a targeted review of the revised data model, focusing on=20
ensuring that your concerns have been addressed. Please respond to me=20
and Alan with an estimated date by which you believe you can complete=20
this review. (I anticipate that such re-reviews will take a minimum=20
amount of time, and request that they be performed this week, if at all=20
possible).

After all five reviewers have completed their re-review, we will enter a

two-week working group last call period.

The plan is to have publication requested prior to our face-to-face=20
meeting in Vancouver, allowing us to concentrate on the event package=20
and protocol operations.

Thanks to the data model authors for the new revision, and again to the=20
dedicated reviewers for their efforts in improving the document.

Hello,

After the discussion of the new chatroom elements that should be include
in the data model. Here it's some more comments about the topic. If the
WG agree on that I'll add these elements in the next version of the data
model. Comments as [ON].

Cheers,

Oscar

I was under the impression that one could create conferences that
allowed general membership, without needing to add people to the
<allowed-users-list>. (If not, I think we'll run into problems).

[MB2] You can have conferences with general membership, BUT the
conferencing system associates an identifier with each user. The
framework does mention (section 5.3) that while the user identifier is
NOT required to join a conference, it is necessary to manipulate a
conference. Non-XCON aware users (for lack of a better term) aren't
expected to be aware of the user identifier - it's a system thing. But,
it might also be necessary to include in notifications to XCON-aware
clients as to conference membership, etc. I almost think the
<allowed-users-list> element should just be renamed <users-list> as I
think the other attributes, such as user-admission-policy, introduce the
"allowed" aspect - i.e., that list is all users associated that can
potentially be associated with the conference instance. [/MB2]

The PIN concept is pretty much what we're looking for here, but we need
a mechanism to extend it to other protocols. My reading right now is
that the PIN in the data model is good only for PSTN users.
[MB2] It's my understanding that a PIN concept could apply to any user
type. But, maybe I've misunderstood the data model. Actually, there may
be an inconsistency in the data model. It does say in section 4.1.2.
that a URI of PSTN-ISDN has a "PIN code" attribute, however, there is a
"join-handling" value of "IVR" in 4.5. which specifies that the user
must provide a PIN and I don't think that is restricted to the PSTN-ISDN
user. So, I wonder if that "PIN code" attribute is really necessary in
the PSTN-type definition? [/MB2]

[ON] In the version 06 of the data model we have modified the 'IVR'
value of the <join-handling> element for an 'authenticate' value. The
'authenticate' value is not restricted to the PSTN-ISDN users as the
'IVR' value. As well, the <conf-uris> element does not have the
<PSTN-ISDN> element anymore under <conf-uris>. These changes have been
done to validate the consensus achieve in the last ietf meeting. =20

In the next version of the draft we can add a new attribute 'conference
password' in the <conf-uris> element to complete the requirements of the
discussion above.=20

Ah, yes. I overlooked that. A service-uri pointing to a web-page with a
purpose of "recording" would certainly serve the purpose quite nicely.=20
I'll make a note of this. Thanks for pointing it out.

I think you misread what I was proposing. I was pointing out that the
<allowed-users-list> is where we keep information about users associated
with the conference but not currently participating in it. I said that
we need to add elements to these entries that contain ancillary
information, like name, nickname, email, etc.

[MB2] Okay, I see your point and agree that we would need to add that
additional info. [MB2]

[ON] We'll add the solution number one to the next version of the data
model [/ON]

> =20

Umm... I was under the impression that the language tag here indicated
what language was being used in the <conference-description>, not in the
conference itself. I guess one can take it as implied that the
conference will be in the same language as the description, but that
doesn't quite feel right to me. I would *personally* prefer it be more
explicit than that in the data model. If consensus is that we want to
necessarily use the language indicator in the <conference-description>
to *also* indicate the language used inside the conference, then such a
binding does, at least, need to be made explicit.

[MB2] Okay, I see your point here too and agree that we likely need
both. [/MB2]

[ON] We'll add a new element <language> under <conference-description>
to differentiate both cases. [/ON]

Oscar et. Al

I have reviewed this draft and most of my earlier comments have been addres=
sed. Those comments that have not been addressed in full are not critical e=
nough to warrant a rewrite. I noticed that the state attributes have been r=
emoved from this version and will now be defined in the event package exten=
sions draft. This makes this draft MUCH cleaner, thank you!

Couple of minor nits follow (none of which require a rewrite).

The first one is in section 4.5.4 is -- conference-floor-policy is defined =
as a mandatory element, however, the tree diagram does not show this as man=
datory.

The second one is in Section 6 titled "XML Schema Extensibility".

"The

IETF MAY extend the data model schema with extension elements from

the same namespace, but other instances are free to extend it from

   other than urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xcon-conference-info."

This should be corrected to read as follows.

"The

IETF MAY extend the data model schema with extension elements from

the same namespace in future. Other instances are free to define extensi=
on elements under any namespace other than urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xcon-conf=
erence-info."

Regards,
Srivatsa.

Subject: [XCON] New version of the Conference Information Data Model -06-

Hello,

You can find a new version of the Conference Information Data Model at:

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-06.tx=
t

In this version, we try to solve all the issues and clarifications of the f=
ive dedicated reviewers selected in the last meeting. You can find the revi=
ews in the XCON mailing list. Here you have the links:

Miguel's review:

http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02025.html

Avshalom's review:

http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02026.html

Ben's review:

http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02027.html

Srivatsa's review:

http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02028.html

Mary Barne's review:

http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02029.html

As well, we try to solve the open issues discuss in the IETF 69. You can fi=
nd the discussion in the minutes draft:

http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/07jul/minutes/xcon.txt

This version has quiet many changes compared to the previous version (relax=
ng, structure of the document, security considerations, ...). Here, we onl=
y try to summarized the three major changes/problems in this version of the=
 document:

- We have removed the roles from the document since we believe is much bett=
er to define the roles and their definition in a future policy document. Ma=
ny of the reviewers have some concerns about the roles chapter and we could=
see the definition of roles is not enough mature to add it in the data mod=
el.

- Few reviewers didn't like the idea to have a refer method in the <allowe=
d-users-list>, the initial concern is that this element is overloaded. We h=
ave decided to keep this element because in the IETF-60 meeting it was a co=
nsensus that a separate refer list was needed, mainly because the list is n=
ot a list of users that the focus invites to join the conference (dial-out =
list). Of course, we can discusses again this point and if the working grou=
p feels it's appropriate to remove this element from the data model we can =
do so in the next version.

- As it was decided in the IETF-69 we have collapsed all the sub-element of=
 <conf-uris> and <services-uris> into a single one.

Not need to mention that all your comments are very welcome!

Cheers,

Oscar

I re-reviewed the document, in particular the comments and nits I had
previously noted. All the nits I had identified have been addressed.
There are a few new nits I noticed and I have one remaining comment
related to my previous comments.

Comment:
--------
The one remaining comment is around the roles related to my previous
comment on the 2nd paragraph in section 3.2. My previous comment had
been primarily around the text in the 2nd paragraph which had some
inaccuracies and inconsistencies with the framework. =20

Per your past response to my comments that entire section discussing the
roles was to be removed. However, the concept of role remains and it's
definition has changed to "text" from the base "role-type" (Note that
the "single-role-type" is still defined in the schema). The "role"
element is used in the examples based on the previously defined types
and the introductory text in section 7 refers to those previously
defined types. I see that the reference for "roles" in section 4.6.4.4
is RFC 4575, however, that document doesn't give any information at all
about those types and just mentions that they'll be defined in the
future. I think this document should define them.=20

I can see that the text in the -05 and previous versions of this
document was based on the draft specifically on roles:
http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-morgan-xcon-roles-00 So, I don't think
we need a separate document. At a minimum, I would suggest just taking
some of that previous text in 3.2 and putting it in section 4.6.4.4.
something like:

This <roles> child element consists of a set of the following string
values:=20
   "administrator", "creator", "moderator", "participant", and
"observer". =20
A user with the role of "administrator" typically SHOULD be allowed
to make changes=20
to all conference variables during the full lifecycle of the
Conference Object.=20
A user with the role of "creator" SHOULD be allowed to modify
specific conference
variables, subject to local policy, of a conference reservation and
an active conference. =20
A user with the role of "moderator" has specific privileges, subject
to local policy,=20
that allow them to manipulate specific conference variables such as
adding new users=20
to an active conference or controlling when the media for a
conference. A user with a=20
role of "participant" typically is not allowed to modify conference
variables other than those
specific to the user's own media (e.g., "mute") or participation. A
user with a role of=20
"observer" typically can only receive media streams from the
conference.

Each user participating in a conference instance is an entity that
can assume one or more roles. If no roles are defined for an entity,
they SHOULD=20
by default be a "participant" but local policy MAY define an
alternative.
A Conference System MAY not support all roles. As well, additional
roles may be defined=20
in the future, as necessary, with their corresponding schema
extensions.

Nits:
-----
1) Section 3.3/Section 9.3: "XCON-URI" is used in section 3.3., but the
IANA registry uses "XCON_URI"

2) Section 3.3, Figure 2: for some reason the bottom of the box for BFCP
is skewed in the text version of the doc - it's fine in the HTML
version.

3) Section 4.6.2. Expand PSTN (I noticed this only because I was
double-checking the global changes of PSTN =3D> ISUP, etc. =20

-06-

Dedicated Reviewers:

Please perform a targeted review of the revised data model, focusing on
ensuring that your concerns have been addressed. Please respond to me
and Alan with an estimated date by which you believe you can complete
this review. (I anticipate that such re-reviews will take a minimum
amount of time, and request that they be performed this week, if at all
possible).

After all five reviewers have completed their re-review, we will enter a
two-week working group last call period.

The plan is to have publication requested prior to our face-to-face
meeting in Vancouver, allowing us to concentrate on the event package
and protocol operations.

Thanks to the data model authors for the new revision, and again to the
dedicated reviewers for their efforts in improving the document.

I apologize for the lateness of this re-review--It's been an
exceptionally busy couple of weeks.

Most of my comments have been addressed, or were really not important
enough to worry about. There is still one nit that does not appear to
be addressed, and I have a new concern that I failed to discover the
first time:

IANA Considerations:

This section seems lightweight compared to what I usually expect to
see. It has nice syntax definitions, but unless I am missing
something, doesn't offer specific instructions to IANA about what to
do with the definitions; i.e. what registries they go in, etc.
Furthermore, if the section on the XCON_URI is intended to register
the URI scheme, it does not follow the procedures for doing so as I
understand them.

Remaining nit:

Page 17, <video-layout> bullet, end of paragraph:

"The <layout> types are...": Unless I am missing something, I can find
no definition for a <layout> element. Perhaps this was meant to be
<video-layout>, or perhaps the word layout was not intended to be in
angle-brackets?

Hi:

This is the first part of a follow-up of the comments on the XCON data
model that I posted earlier. I haven't done the full follow-up, but I
think there is enough meat for discussion. I will try to complete the
follow-up sometime next week.

My original comments are:

http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02025.html

And I have been looking at their implementation in vesion -06 of the
data model:

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-06.txt

Let me highlight here issues that require a bit more of discussion. New
comments are preceded by "[MG]":

----
6) Figure 1. There are one or more objects called "Conference Object".
Each one contains just another object called "Conference Information
Data Model". According to the figure, the Conference Object just
contains a Conference Information Data model, nothing else, nothing
more. This makes me think that both things are the same. Or, in other
words, perhaps the "Conference information data model" should be removed
from the figure. Or, if it shouldn't, then you need to describe the
relation between both in textual form.

[MG] I haven't seen any action in the figure nor in the text.

-----

8) I miss a motivation for the existence of roles at the beginning of
Section 3.2

[MG] I noticed that the discussion about the actual values of roles have
been dropped. I don't have any problem about that (although I prefer to
have roles). However, there are some leftovers.

- Section 4.2.6:

       The <mixing-start-
offset> has the mandatory 'required-participant' attribute. This
attribute has one of 4 values: "none", "administrator",
"moderator", and "participant". This attribute allows a
privileged user to define when media mixing starts based on the
latter of the mixing start time, and the time the first
       participant, administrator, or moderator arrives.

So, I guess the 'required-participant' attribute is referring to roles,
and has 4 roles values... however the document does not define the
roles... so I see a contradiction here.

The same applies to the <mixing-end-offset>, <can-join-after-offset>,
and <must-join-before-offset> elements.

I think the draft is now lame, assuming certain roles but not clearly
indicating them.

--------

11) Section 4, the paragraph above Figure 2: it mentions the XCON-URI
without a reference to where it is defined. Then I saw it in the IANA
considerations section, so THIS might be the canonical document that
defines it. So, I think the XCON URI deserves a section by itself,
describing the semantics, syntax, etc.

[MG] While the section to the XCON URI has been devoted, I don't like
the fact that you write the syntax embedded in the IANA considerations
section. Such section is not the place for that. The current Section 3.3
needs to add a subsection where write the syntax of the URI.

---------

15) Section 4.1.1, second paragraph. The <mixing-start-offset> element
is mixing two semantics: one one side, it indicates whether mixing
starts according to either a specified time or when a participant with a
role joins. I think it would much clear to create three elements
instead: one is a <mixing-start>, which can take the values "by-time",
"by-joining-role", or "at-first-join". Another would be the existing
<mixing-start-offset>, which would be restricted to indicating a time,
and only available when <mixing-start> takes the value "by-time". A
third one is <mixing-start-role> which would take the values
"participant", "moderator", "administrator", and is only available is
<mixing-start> takes the value "by-joining-role".

[MG] What happened to this comment?

----

19) Section 4.1.5.1.1 defines the <mute> element and Section 4.1.5.1.2
defines the <pause-video> element. I think these two are very similar,
the only difference being that the former applies to audio streams, the
latter to video streams. I would like to see a single element, perhaps
called <output-stream-enabled> or something like that. This could apply
for any kind of media stream, even for MSRP.

[MG] What happened to this comment? I think we shouldn't be defining
specif actions on a per media stream basis. What we need here is an
element to disable a media stream, no matter whether the stream is of
type, audio, video, gaming, text, message, or something else.

------

20) Section 4.1.5.1.3 defines the <gain> element. I am missing
attributes that defines the minimum and maximum levels. Without it, if I
get that the mixing level is 10, I have now idea if it is 10 in a scale
1-10, 10 in a scale 1-100, or 10 in a scale 1-1000. Further more,
without the maximum/minimum level, it wouldn't be possible to create a
UI scale representation, making the control totally useless.

[MG] While the text now speaks about two attributes, 'min' and 'max',
the do not appear in the RelaxNG nor in the XML schema.

On the other hand, checking the RelaxNG schema, I have now realized that
there is a minInclusive and maxInclusive values, effectively putting
limits to the scale in the XML schema. I would like to ask opinions for
what is the desired option here. There are 3 of these options.

a) <gain> with limits (minInclusive, maxInclusive). So, this effectively
hard codes the limits of the <gain> scale in the schema. The minimum and
maximum values are <gain>-127</gain> and <gain>127</gain>.

b) <gain> with the 'min' and 'max' attributes. So, in this way, the user
controls the range of the scale. I could therefore say <gain min=0
max=10>7</gain>. The server would need to re-scale to whatever scale the
server implements.

c) <gain> with limits (minInclusive, maxInclusive) and 'min' and 'max'
attributes. I think this is the worst solution, because it has the
constraints of both solutions.

So, I think I am going to propose solution a), which is essentially
equivalent to withdrawing my initial comment. But I would suggest that
you mention the hardcoded limits in the text, to avoid mislead the
reader. My prposal for the description of the <gain> element in Section
4.2.10 is:

       * The <gain> element is used in conjunction with a media output
stream to indicate the amount of amplification of an audio
stream. The value is an integer number that ranges from -127 to
          127. If this control is not specified,
access to the control is not available to the client.

----

End of first part.

/Miguel

A new version of I-D, draft-ietf-xcon-framework-10.txt has been successfuly submitted by Mary Barnes and posted to the IETF repository.

Filename: draft-ietf-xcon-framework
Revision: 10
Title: A Framework for Centralized Conferencing
Creation_date: 2007-11-09
WG ID: xcon
Number_of_pages: 64

Abstract:
This document defines the framework for Centralized Conferencing.
The framework allows participants using various call signaling
protocols, such as SIP, H.323, Jabber, Q.931 or ISUP, to exchange
media in a centralized unicast conference. The Centralized
Conferencing Framework defines logical entities and naming
conventions. The framework also outlines a set of conferencing
protocols, which are complementary to the call signaling protocols,
for building advanced conferencing applications. The framework binds
all the defined components together for the benefit of builders of
conferencing systems.

Hi all,

This updated version is the result of IETF LC comments from the gen-art
and secdir reviews, along with some initial IESG feedback (OPS and
Security) (document was deferred from 11/1 telechat and is on the agenda
for 11/15). The summary of the changes is below. There shouldn't be
anything of controversy as these are all clarifications or corrections
to existing text. The diff is not yet available on the tools page, but
should be there shortly. In the interim, you can easily create your own
diff by using the rfcdiff tool:
http://tools.ietf.org/rfcdiff =20

Thanks,
Mary

1) Abstract and Section 1 (IESG (Dan Romascanu) Comment):

OLD:
The Centralized Conferencing Framework defines logical entities and
naming conventions, along with a high level conferencing data model.

NEW:
The Centralized Conferencing Framework defines logical entities and
naming conventions.=20

2) Section 5.2.1: removed confusing unclear 2nd sentence since it really
added no value(Scott Brim's comment from gen-art review) and changed the
tense of the 3rd sentence (editor's comment):

OLD: =20
In order to make each conference object externally accessible, the
conferencing system allocates a unique URI per distinct conference
object in the system. The conference object identifier is created
both by the conferencing system based on internal actions as well as
based on specific conference protocol requests. A conferencing
system will allocate a conferencing object identifier for every
conference blueprint, for every conference reservation and for every
   active conference.
NEW:=20

object in the system. A conferencing
system allocates a conferencing object identifier for every
conference blueprint, for every conference reservation and for every
   active conference.

3) Updates to security section based on secdir (Kurt Zeilenga) and IESG
(Tim Polk) comments:

3a) Section 10. Added a fourth paragraph about DoS attacks at the end of
that section just prior to 10.1:
OLD (last sentence 3rd paragraph):
    A final set of
issues involves the privacy and security of the identity of a user in
the conference, which is discussed in Section 10.2.

NEW:
   Another set of
issues involves the privacy and security of the identity of a user in
the conference, which is discussed in Section 10.2. =20

A final issue is related to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks on the
conferencing=20
system itself. In order to minimize the potential for DoS attacks, it
is=20
recommended that conferencing systems require user authentication and

authorization for any client participating in a conference. It is
recommended that the specific signaling and media protocols include
mechanisms=20
to minimize the potential for DoS.

3b) Section 10.1. Clarifying Authentication versus Authorization

3bi) Renamed section:
OLD:=20
   Authorization

NEW:=20
   User Authentication and Authorization

3bii) First paragraph: expanded acronyms and clarified text. Added 2nd
sentence (removed last sentence) and moved 4th and 5th sentences to the
end:
OLD:
Many policy authorization decisions are based on the identity of the
user or the role that a user may have. There are several ways that a
user might authenticate its identity to the system. The conferencing
system may know about specific users and assign passwords to the
users. The users may also be authenticated by knowing a particular
conference ID and a PIN for it. Sometimes, a PIN is not required and
the conference ID is used as a shared secret. The call signaling
means can provide a trusted form of the user identity or it might
just provide a hint of the possible identity and the user still needs
to provide some authentication to prove it has the identity that was
provided as a hint in the call signaling. This may be in the form of
an IVR system or other means. The goal for the conferencing system
is to figure out a user identity and a role for any attempt to send a
   request to the conferencing system.

  =20
NEW:
Many policy authorization decisions are based on the identity=20
of the user or the role that a user may have. Conferencing systems
typically
require authentication of users to validate their identity.=20
There are several ways that a user might authenticate its identity to
the system.=20
For users joining a conference using one of the call signaling
protocols, the=20
user authentication mechanisms for the specific protocol often
suffice.=20
The conferencing system may also know (e.g., out of band mechanisms)
about specific=20
users and assign passwords to allow these users to be authorized. In
some cases
additional authorization may be required to allow the user to
participate in the=20
conference. This may be in the form of an Interactive Voice Response
(IVR) system
or other means. The users may also be authorized by knowing a
particular
conference ID and a Personal Identification (PIN) for it. Sometimes,
a PIN is not=20

3biii) 3rd paragraph (change "authenticates" to "authorizes"):

OLD:
When guest users interact with the system, it is often in the context
of a particular conference. In this case, the user may provide a PIN
or a password that is specific to the conferences and authenticates
the user to take on a certain role in that conference. The guest
user can then perform actions that are allowed to any user with that
   role.

NEW:

or a password that is specific to the conferences and authorizes

the user to take on a certain role in that conference. The guest
user can then perform actions that are allowed to any user with that
   role.

3biv) 4th paragraph: Reworded to add detail about the number of
digits/characters associated with specific numbers of bits in first two
sentences:
OLD:
The term password is used to mean the usual, that is to say a
reasonable sized, in number of bits, hard to predict shared secret.
Today users often have passwords with more than 30 bits of randomness
in them. PIN is a special password case - a shared secret that is
only numeric and often contains a fairly small number of bits (often
as few as 10 bits). =20

NEW:
The term password refers to the usual, reasonable sized and hard to=20
predict shared secret. Today users often have passwords containing up
to=20
30 bits (8-16 characters). PIN is a special password case - a shared
secret=20
that is only numeric and often contains a fairly small=20
number of bits (often as few as 10 bits or 3 digits). =20

4) Updated references (gen-art review comment):
   OLD:
       draft-ietf-simple-message-sessions
       draft-ietf-xcon-bfcp-connection
   NEW:
       RFC 4975
       RFC 5018

5) Updated Chris' affiliation.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.
This draft is a work item of the Centralized Conferencing Working Group
of the IETF.

Title : A Framework for Centralized Conferencing
	Author(s) : M. Barnes, et al.
	Filename : draft-ietf-xcon-framework-10.txt
	Pages : 64
	Date : 2007-11-09

This document defines the framework for Centralized Conferencing.
The framework allows participants using various call signaling
protocols, such as SIP, H.323, Jabber, Q.931 or ISUP, to exchange media
in a centralized unicast conference. The Centralized Conferencing
Framework defines logical entities and naming conventions. The
framework also outlines a set of conferencing protocols, which are
complementary to the call signaling protocols, for building advanced
conferencing applications. The framework binds all the defined
components together for the benefit of builders of conferencing systems.

Hi all,

Just a note that this document replaces
draft-boulton-xcon-msrp-conferencing-05. The updates include a new
section to address some of the additional capabilities as identified in
draft-roach-xcon-chatroom-analysis-00, as well as updating to reflect
the current status of the SIMPLE WG chat document. It is still lacking
in detail in terms of protocol details, but we'd prefer to get feedback
on the general approach and to await further WG agreement on the way
forward for a detailed protocol before adding a lot more detail.

Thanks,
Mary and Chris.

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.

Title : Instant Messaging Sessions within a
Centralized Conferencing (XCON) System
	Author(s) : C. Boulton, M. Barnes
	Filename : draft-boulton-xcon-session-chat-00.txt
	Pages : 23
	Date : 2007-10-29

The document "A Framework for Centralized Conferencing" defines a
centralized conference as both signaling and protocol agnostic. The
primary examples within this framework focus on audio and video as the
media types for the session. This document describes the mechanisms, in
the context of this centralized conferencing framework, when using
instant messaging sessions as the media.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:

the message.
You can also visit https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/I-D-announce
to change your subscription settings.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After
logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-boulton-xcon-session-chat-00.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html or
ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-boulton-xcon-session-chat-00.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
	a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail
readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

*About the Conference*
======================

The CSE (International Conference on Computational Science and Engineering)
conference previously was held mainly as the International Workshop on High
Performance Scientific and Engineering Computing for tenth editions, mostly
in conjunction with International Conference on Parallel Processing (ICPP),
as COATA-98 (Orlando, USA, July, 1998), HPSEC-99 (Fukushima, Japan, September
1999), HPSEC-00 (Toronto, Canada, August, 2000), HPSEC-01 (Valencia, Spain,
September, 2001), HPSEC-02 (Vancouver, Canada, August, 2002), HPSEC-03
(Kaohsing, Taiwan, October, 2003), HPSEC-04 (Montreal, Canada, August, 2004),
HPCSE-04 with WCC-04 (Toulouse, France, August, 2004), HPSEC-05 (Oslo, Norway,
June, 2005), and HPSEC-06 (Columbus, USA, August, 2006).

After many successful editions, this conference will be organized independently
starting in 2008, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This Conference is sponsored by IEEE
TCSC Technical Committee on Scalable Computing and IEEE Computer Society.

*About Sao Paulo, Brazil*
=========================

Sao Paulo, the 19a richest city of the world, is officially inserted in a larger
metropolitan region which holds 39 towns in total, and a population of more than
19 million inhabitants (2005). It is one of the biggest financial centers of
Brazil and the world. Its economy is going through a deep transformation. Once
a city with a strong industrial character, Sao Paulo's economy has become
increasingly based on the tertiary sector, focusing on services and businesses
for the country.

Sao Paulo is located on a plateau, part of the vast region known as the Brazilian
Highlands, with an average elevation of around 800 metres (2,625 ft) above sea
level - though at a distance of only about 70 kilometers (43 mi) from the Atlantic
Ocean. This distance is covered by two highways, the Anchieta and the Imigrantes,
that roll down the range, leading to the portuary city of Santos and the beach
resort of Guaruja. Rolling terrain prevails within the urbanized areas of Sao Paulo
but in the North of the city - where the Serra da Cantareira Range boasts higher
elevations and a sizable remnant of the Atlantic Rain Forest.

[as chair]

As I mentioned two weeks ago, the chairs are now calling for consensus
regarding whether to adopt draft-srinivasan-xcon-eventpkg-extensions-02
as the basis for our charter item to update the conference event
package. The current document is available at:

http://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-srinivasan-xcon-eventpkg-extensions-02.txt

Please register agreement or disagreement with adopting the document as
a working group item by responding to this email. If you have no opinion
on the topic, please respond to this email with an active abstention so
that the chairs can register the total number of people who have
considered the motion, even those who choose not to voice an opinion.

Thanks.

[as chair]

The stated plan of action at the Chicago meeting was to call for
consensus on the event package document _prior_ to the Vancouver
meeting. This was an important part of the plan that the chairs worked
out with the area director prior to the meeting as part of a negotiation
to allow the working group to continue.

Anonymity has never been important to consensus (quite the opposite, in
fact -- the ability to anonymously object to a course of action without
being identified encourages obstructionism). Many working groups outside
of the Transport/RAI areas call for consensus at face-to-face meetings
with a show of hands, which is far from anonymous.

[as chair]

As I mentioned two weeks ago, the chairs are now calling for consensus
regarding whether to adopt draft-srinivasan-xcon-eventpkg-extensions-02
as the basis for our charter item to update the conference event
package. The current document is available at:

  =20
http://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-srinivasan-xcon-eventpkg-extensions-02.tx
t

Hello,

After the discussion of the new chatroom elements that should be include
in the data model. Here it's some more comments about the topic. If the
WG agree on that I'll add these elements in the next version of the data
model. Comments as [ON].

Cheers,

[MB2]

[ON] We'll add the solution number one to the next version of the data
model [/ON]

[/ON]

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Centralized Conferencing Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Conference Information Data Model for Centralized Conferencing (XCON)
	Author(s) : O. Novo, et al.
	Filename : draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-07.txt
	Pages : 69
	Date : 2007-11-19

This document defines an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-based
conference information data model for centralized conferencing
(XCON). A conference information data model is designed to convey
information about the conference and about participation in the
conference. The conference information data model defined in this
document constitutes an extension of the data format specified in the
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Event Package for Conference State.

A URL for this Internet-Draft is:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-07.txt

To remove yourself from the I-D Announcement list, send a message to
i-d-announce-request@ietf.org with the word unsubscribe in the body of
the message.
You can also visit https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/I-D-announce
to change your subscription settings.

Internet-Drafts are also available by anonymous FTP. Login with the
username "anonymous" and a password of your e-mail address. After
logging in, type "cd internet-drafts" and then
	"get draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-07.txt".

A list of Internet-Drafts directories can be found in
http://www.ietf.org/shadow.html
or ftp://ftp.ietf.org/ietf/1shadow-sites.txt

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-07.txt".

Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.

Hi folks,

First of all, I want to thanks all the reviewers to review (again) the
data model and to all your feedback. Thanks to Ben, Srivatsa, Miguel,
Mary, and Avshalom. You have done a good job!

In this new version we try mainly to fix the problems the reviews have
found in the data model, as well as, we have added the 'chatroom'
comments
(http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02062.html)
proposed in the mailing list.

To sum up:

- Fixed the IANA considerations (Ben's feedback)
- Fixed the "XML Schema Extensibility" text (Srivatsa feedback)
- Removed totally the roles the Schema (Mary and Miguel's feedback)
- Created a new subsection in the XCON URI section to define this URI
(Miguel's feedback)
- Defined the <gain> element with the limits (-127...+127) using the
'minInclusive', 'maxInclusive' from RelaxNG. (Miguel's feedback)
- Fixed some remain nits. (all reviewers feedback)
- Addition of a new element 'conference password' in the <conf-uris>
(Chatroom Consensus)
- Modification of the <provide-anonymity> element with the values
"private" and "semi-private" instead of Boolean. (Chatroom Consensus)
- Addition of a <denied-users-list> element (Chatroom Consensus)
- Addition of <target> element and the child element <email> under
<allowed-users-list> (Chatroom Consensus)
- Addition of the <language> element under <conference-description>
(Chatroom Consensus)

Miguel, some of your comments from your last (re)review I have already
answered to them some time ago. Check the next link:
=20
http://www1.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/xcon/current/msg02046.html

Please, Note that, even though, the roles are completely removed from
the data model, still some reviewers think it's important to keep some
role information in the data model. We could try to discuss this issue
in the face to face meeting in few weeks.=20

You can fetch the last version of the draft in:
http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-07
.txt

As you know, your feedback is welcome!

Cheers,

Oscar

[as chair]

Based on requests and active work items, we have put together a
preliminary agenda for the XCON meeting in Vancouver.

  http://www3.ietf.org/proceedings/07dec/agenda/xcon.txt

Note that the -07 version of the data model isn't appearing in the
rsync'ed version of the i-d repository at the moment, but can be found
in the online repository:

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-xcon-common-data-model-07.txt

Direct any comments to Alan and me.

/a
